However, Max, who managed to infiltrate KAOS headquarters, manages to temporarily halt the super robot by stealing his remote control. However, after some modifications, Groppo comes back under KAOS' control and after killing his creator goes on the hunt for Hymie. However, Hymie wants to make friends with Groppo instead of fighting the giant. Max, along with Dr. Harris and agent 42 decide to confront the giant robot. Unfortunately, none of the weapons they use are able to destroy him. Will Hymie change his attitude and fight Groppo and if he does will he be able to destroy him before Groppo destroys him?

During a track meet between athletes from the Free World (America) and the Iron Curtain, the American athletes are experiencing several accidents that could cost them the meet. Hymie is brought in and his electronic brain concludes that the accidents are being caused by Mr. Sneed and Mrs. Neal of KAOS' Contrived Accidents Division (CAD). After one athlete is incapacitated due to poison soap, Hymie is put in charge much to the consternation of Max. Hymie then suggests that the athletes should stay at Max's apartment where another attempt is made on their lives. The next day the team's leading discus thrower and high jumper are drugged by a paralyzing gas. Hymie is then chosen to compete in their place and in the process breaks the world records for both events. However, Mrs. Neal kisses the CONTROL robot with a special lipstick that drains his batteries just before he is to compete in the mile run. Will Hymie be able to compete in the mile run and win the competition for the Free World?

While attending a funeral for a murdered double agent, someone attempts to murder both the Chief and his KAOS counterpart. Following the attack, Max informs both chiefs that it was the work of Atrocities, Cruelties and Brutalities, better known as ACB, a third spy network bent on destroying both CONTROL and KAOS. Max is assigned to find ACB's leader Kubacek, a former KAOS agent who tried to defect to CONTROL but was rejected. Kubacek also happens to be an ambidextrous table tennis player and master of disguise, which makes identifying him all the more difficult. Max is also given a new partner in a jive talking rookie by the name of Samuels. He also is given the cover of the Masked Marvel, the only player to have ever beaten Kubacek in a match. Max, 99 and Samuels eventually go on a world wide tour in an attempt to ferret out Kubacek before he kills any more agents.
