The Christening

Whilst Stacey is thrilled to be living back home Gavin tries to come to terms with the culture shock of working with his new Welsh colleagues. Nessa, now living with Dave, throws a christening party for baby Neil, attended by the Shipmans and Smithy and Rudi and their narcoleptic mother Cath. Bryn's lusty singing at the church inspires Pam in her desire to be on "Britain's Got Talent" but Smithy, having paid for the christening, is annoyed to learn that it is doubling as Nessa and Dave's engagement party. Gavin and Stacey, however, are inspired by the occasion to consider starting their own family.

Job Interview

Despite a savage dummy interview from Bryn, Stacey gets a job as a waitress as Marco's Café. Dave Coaches is not happy when Nessa and the young Shipmans take baby Neil to Essex but cuts his losses when Nessa's father offers a weekend watching porn. In Billericay, Pam and Mick order a huge Indian takeaway for the family and a surprisingly quiet Dawn and Pete. Stacey wants Gavin to slip away from the party and make a baby with her but he gets drunk and passes out. The next morning, Nessa and Smithy wake up in the same bed.

Cardiff

After agreeing to build Pam and Mick a conservatory, Smithy joins his mates for a lads' weekend in Barry, staying with Bryn, who goes clubbing with them in Cardiff and ends up being sick. Stacey and her friends link up with the boys, Nessa telling Smithy the date of her wedding to Dave Coaches, but Stacey is perturbed by her continuing failure to get pregnant, especially as she has stopped taking her contraceptive pills.

Wedding Vows

After receiving unwanted sex advice from Gwen and Bryn, Gavin takes Stacey to a doctor who tells them that he has a very low sperm count. They drive in silence to Essex where, to Mick's irritation, Dawn and Pete are renewing their marriage vows in a lavish ceremony. Smithy has even bought a suit in which to give Dawn away but the couple doesn't disappoint when, after a perfect ceremony, Dawn finds fault with Pete's new wedding band, leading to a row. Smithy offers to help Gavin out by impregnating Stacey but drops a bombshell in an argument with Dave Coaches by telling him he slept with Nessa on her last visit to Essex.
Episode 5
The Beach

Pam and Mick arrive to spend a sunny Bank Holiday on the beach with the Wests and Doris, and are joined by Nessa with baby Neil, escaping the atmosphere between her and Dave Coaches. Smithy also turns up and Gavin feels envious watching him, and Nessa make sandcastles with their son but perks up after a heart-to-heart with Mick about other options. Later they have a barbecue with stolen meat and Dave Coaches and Smithy call a truce as the wedding approaches, but Bryn is embarrassed to be reminded that Jason will be attending. After all, something "happened" between the two once on a fishing trip.
Episode 6
Nessa's Wedding

The wedding day dawns. Bryn and Jason put their secret to bed while Stacey has wonderful news: All 34 pregnancy-test kits have turned out positive. Nessa's ex-lover John Prescott is invited to the wedding, but after watching her mother get married nine times, she does not wish baby Neil to attend and gives him to Smithy to look after while she and Dave Coaches go on honeymoon. To the strains of "Suddenly", the bride and groom stand at the altar but Smithy bursts in with Neil, advising Nessa against marrying Dave Coaches as she does not love him and is only looking for a father figure for Neil, something he himself can provide. Dave Coaches agrees with him and the wedding is off. Six months later, Nessa, Smith, Gavin, and pregnant Stacey sit on the seafront and Smithy asks Nessa "What's occurrin'?".
