Episode 1
They're Back

Gavin and Stacey return from honeymoon to be greeted at the airport by Gavin's parents waving a banner which embarrasses Mick and Pam recalling her dreadful holiday in Corfu. The two families end up at the Shipmans', where Smithy is angry that Gavin never rang him while on honeymoon and Stacey is perturbed that Nessa has not told Smithy of her pregnancy. However, at the local Italian restaurant, where Dawn and Pete are coming to terms with a failed threesome, Pam and Gwen overhear Stacey urging Nessa to come clean. Eventually everybody ends up in the toilet except Bryn and Smithy, who is the last to hear the news.

On the Run

Annoyed that he was the last to find out about Nessa's situation Smithy disappears. His sister Rudi has no idea where he is, but eventually Gavin tracks him down at a golf driving range and brings him home to face Nessa. Smithy is prepared to do the decent thing and stand by Nessa, but she makes it clear that she has no wish for him to see the baby. Gwen suggests that Nessa moves into Stacey's old room but Stacey, already feeling homesick, sees this as a severance of her links with Barry and is not impressed to find that Gwen has brought a lorry-load of her belongings to Billericay.

The Scan

Unable to get a job in Essex and missing Gavin while he's at work, Stacey is thrilled to visit Barry with him and Smithy for Nessa's baby scan. Nessa herself, rehearsing for the karaoke competition with Bryn, shows every likelihood of getting back with her old flame Dave Coaches, who runs the local travel service. Smithy stays with Bryn, who indulges in some homo-erotic gym exercises with him, stripped to the waist, which rather shocks Gavin. Then he goes to the hospital with Nessa for the scan but they make it clear to the nurse that they are not a couple.

House Hunting

Mick is interviewed on the television news after finding a corpse in a car park, which is the cause for a small celebration at the Shipmans, even though Dawn and Pete argue as usual. Stacey, however, still unemployed, is not in party mood and only to glad to pay another visit back to Barry with Gavin and Smithy. At least this time Nessa and Smithy are civil to each other, she even asking about his girl-friend - whom nobody has ever seen. Indeed after Nessa has impressed Smithy with her perfect strikes at the bowling alley they go home to indulge in a bucket of K.F.C, where corn-on-the-cob takes on a new erotic meaning.

Birthday Party

Gwen's birthday is coming up and Bryn wants to organize a surprise party for her but is dismayed that nobody seems to want to come, so he has to consider asking people she dislikes. Eventually he manages to get together a line-dancing evening, where he and Nessa perform 'Islands in the Stream' but the real surprise of the evening is the unexpected arrival of Stacey's musician brother Jason. For Gavin the shock of the night is when Stacey tells him she feels isolated in Essex and is leaving him to remain in Wales.

Boys Night Out

Pam and Mick try to effect reconciliation over the phone with Gwen after Stacey moves in with Bryn. They also try to take Gavin's mind off things by involving him in a protest against the erection of a radio mast, after which Smithy takes him on a boys' night out, which he does not appreciate. Stacey goes to the bingo with her family, but the couple are unhappy apart and end up ringing each other to determine how to get back together again.

The Baby

Stacey returns to Essex and Gavin, but when Pam and Mick offer to put down the deposit on a house for the couple, she gets cold feet and still believes they would be better off living apart. The news comes through that Nessa has gone into labour a month early. Pam, Mick, and Stacey head for Barry while Gavin hunts for Smithy, and after a row at the Severn toll bridge, where Smithy breaks the barrier, they arrive in time to see the new baby, Neil.

Christmas Special 2008

The Wests plus Nessa and her boyfriend Dave Coaches with baby Neil come to spend Christmas at Billericay where Mick cooks a handsome turkey dinner for them all. Gavin announces that he has got a job in Cardiff, later explaining to Smithy that it was the best thing he could think of to save his marriage. Smithy comes to accept it but feels pushed out of Neil's life when Nessa accepts Dave's marriage proposal.
