Episode 1
First stop is 1900 to 1909, where the Robshaws find themselves in their middle class home. They have a 'maid of all works', Debbie, to do all their cooking and cleaning. One of her first tasks is to cook a meat heavy 3 course evening meal; however the next morning's breakfast of lamb chops leaves the Robshaws feeling overfed. In a later visit to The Savoy, Mr and Mrs Robshaw are introduced to a lighter French haute cuisine, which is more to their taste. Debbie has to prepare an 8 course menu for a dinner party for 8 people and Mr Robshaw's reputation and place in society rests on the its success. Later, Mum Rochelle and daughters organise a tea party for the local ladies in order to further cement the family's social standing. At the end of this decade the family celebrate the success of the UK/French 'Entente Cordiale' by serving sandwiches and chocolate eclairs to their friends.
