Episode 1
Sun, Feb 2, 202546 mins
Sophie and Dennis are facing challenges, both together and individually. The "together" issue is that they cannot be together until Dennis is divorced, especially problematic if the paparazzi, who are following her, catches them, the divorce which proves to be more challenging to achieve than he expects. And individually, they cannot work together in Dennis being banished from the network and Sophie being under contract, thus Ted directing what she can and cannot do professionally. What is in the works for her is a spin-off of her Barbara character, Ted wanting Clive or someone like Clive back in the picture. What is most problematic for her is that the all-male old boys creative team have no idea how to write a modern young female character. And Dennis, with Bill and Tony still by his side in their next project, is saddled with a diva and divo with unreasonable demands as leads.

Due to the failure of the initial episode of Just Barbara, Sophie is able to convince Ted to rehire the old team of Bill, Tony and even Dennis to work on Just Barbara version 2.0. But they all realize that the old spark doesn't seem to be there in their situations being different, including Sophie no longer being the real Barbara to insert her real-life experiences into the conversation. But the bigger issues are the unofficial push and pull between Bill and Tony in especially the latter feeling somewhat unsettled in his personal life in comparison, and the strain evident between Sophie and Dennis pervading the situation. As such, Sophie hedges her bets in looking for other acting opportunities. The strain is also evident between Sophie and her father, she who may not be aware it having to do with her mother about who she has been thinking more of late. With Diane now literally and figuratively moving to behind the camera, Sophie gets some assistance in trying to locate her mother. Marjorie becomes more militant in organizing her fellow female colleagues to fight for pay equal to their male colleagues. And in running into Edith and Vernon, Dennis is goaded into appearing on Vernon's stuffy debate show Pipe Smoke to talk about the issue of sitcoms. Dennis agreeing to it is despite he knowing that it is purely a power play by Vernon to show his superiority in he and the other guests ganging up on Dennis and his work.
