Two weeks have passed since Stephanie has started middle school, she becomes friends with Mickey, a seventh grader. Stephanie notices Gia and Mickey are smoking, she becomes uneasy over the situation and she leaves the bathroom. Meanwhile, DJ, Steve, and Kimmy help Jesse and Joey with their radio show, but the two get into a dispute over the name. Stephanie anonymously calls the radio station by pretending to be "Olga" and she reveals how she was pressured into smoking cigarettes. DJ, Steve, and Kimmy give the anonymous caller advice on how bad smoking is and the consequences it has. Danny praises Stephanie for not giving into smoking, but Stephanie still wants to be friends with Mickey. The next day, Stephanie sees Gia, her friends, and Mickey entering the girls bathroom and she finally stands up to Gia. Mickey decides to hang out with Stephanie and she reveals that she has decided not to smoke. Gia leaves the bathroom with her friends and she is forced to go to detention.

Jesse's beloved grandfather from Greece, Papouli, comes to San Francisco to visit the Tanners. His visit is highlighted by bonding with Jesse's nieces, D.J., Stephanie and especially young Michelle. One evening, Papouli promises Michelle that he will visit her first-grade class to teach them a Greek dance the next day. Sadly, the bonding activities foreshadow the very worst: That night, Papouli dies in his sleep. Jesse is devastated, believing he could have done something to save Papouli's life. However, the family has just as difficult a time convincing Michelle that Papouli is dead and will not be visiting her class after all. Eventually, both Jesse and Michelle help each other come to grips with the loss of Papouli and grieve in each other's arms. In the end, Michelle - with help from Danny and Jesse - does the only thing possible: Go to class, share the news about Papouli's death, and then teach a basic Greek dance to the class in celebration of his life.
