Writer, broadcaster and restaurant critic Giles Coren hosts the first edition of the TV version of the BBC Radio 4 arts and culture show. Giles is joined in the studio by BBC Radio DJ Nihal Arthanayake and writer and comedian Viv Groskop to discuss their cultural highlights ranging from books they have read to art installations that have captured their imagination. Interviewer John Wilson talks to British film director Michael Winterbottom about his new film 'On the Road (2016/II)' - a fictional love story filmed on tour with the band Wolf Alice - and the range of films and television programmes he has directed. Nihal and Viv engage in fierce debate over the literary merits of the Harry Potter books and review Channel 4's '"Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams' (2017)'. Welsh actor, rising Hollywood star and avid art collector Luke Evans acts as a guest interviewer as he visits one of the most creative and challenging artistic double-acts in Britain - Gilbert and George, to discuss free artworks, beards, living sculpture and how the pair first met. Back in the studio Wolf Alice are the show's first musical guests as they perform the first single from their new album.

First, Amol travels to Chicester to talk to Sir Ian McKellen about his title role in Jonathan Munby's striking adaptation of King Lear, his career and future plans. John Wilson interviews Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling about the eagerly-anticipated Blade Runner 2049 - the long-awaited follow-up to Ridley Scott's seminal Science Fiction thriller. Australian musician and comedian Tim Minchin is the final guest and Amol talks to him about his new-found role as an author of children's books before Tim performs his song "When I Grow Up", taken from the stage-play version of Roald Dahl's "Matilda".

Giles is joined in the studio by guests, writer and broadcaster Rachel Johnson and comedy writer John O'Farrell. They will be discussing political satire, Rachel's brother Boris Johnson and two political satires from James Graham which are running in London theatres. Graham is interviewed about the plays, his work in film and television and politics in general. Kirsty Lang interviews Michael Fassbender about his starring role in the film adaptation of Jo Nesbø's novel The Snowman and his acting career from Band of Brothers to 12 Years A Slave. Samira Ahmed then interviews Kate Winslet about her role in another new film set in snowy climes, the romance-disaster film The Mountain Between Us. Back in the studio Giles, Rachel and John review Channel 4's Danish crime drama Norskov and ask if the British public have had their fill of the Scandi-Noir genre. Norwegian songstress Susanne Sundfør performs live in the studio.
