David hunts on land and sea for two classic Hawaiian favorites: poke and a smash burger. But things head south during his nighttime hunt when he fails to bag the invasive axis deer. He turns to Maui's food-producing communities for help, but will it be enough?
Episode 2
Once again, David is back in the water, facing his fear of free diving. This time, he's hunting one of the most dangerous fish in the sea: the invasive lionfish, whose venom can be fatal. He'll also be dodging lobster claws and climbing trees for avocados, making him wonder if the producers are trying to make room for a new host.
Episode 3
Time for a legendary ingredient: Canadian maple syrup. David has been pining for this moment since he was a kid (or maybe we should say maplie-ing). Tackling the traditional sugar shack meals of the Canadian winter, David makes pork cretons (pâté), seasonal poutine, pouding chômeur, and cucumber salad, and gains 50 pounds.
Episode 4
David heads to Utopia Bagels in Queens, New York, winner of 2024's Best New York Bagel. In a unique episode, he travels around the world to harvest the ingredients for this very international of sandwiches: salmon from Norway, Oregon, and British Columbia; lox from Nova Scotia; poppy seeds from Poland; capers from California; and flour and cream cheese from upstate New York.
