As the years go by, Jim begins taking her down a self destructive path, and when she tries to break free and live healthy, as well as reunite with her first girlfriend, he reacts vindictively by leaking her true sexual nature to the boxing community. When that doesn't work his next reaction is violent, as he attacks her leaving her fighting for her life, and if she survives, likely traumatized for the rest of her life.
