A storm has wrecked the camp, the plane wreck, the supplies and, worst of all, moral. Lex soon comes up with practical solutions again, but Taylor has gone completely silent, Eric pulls out hoping to have more spare time without doing any chores, Jackson refuses to remain leader.

Sleeping all is one tent since the storm destroyed the camp, the kids decide they must built another shelter, so the genders can sleep separately again. Eric finds a washed-up, locked wooden box. Everybody dreams about it containing some dearly missed treats. Lex however fears it may be old ammunition. Jackson realizes from the start Daley's suggestion to decide by voting isn't realistic, and is proven right almost instantly. The content, its origin and effects are surprisingly inspiring.

Nathan is too much obsessed with whether to declare his love to Daley to concentrate on the shelter building according to Lex's back-breaking design. Taylor guesses his feelings and tells Eric, feeling such couple would outvote the lazybones systematically. So they approach Melissa and Jackson. But every indication makes Taylor change her theory.

Eric becomes "tired" of carrying water from the well to the campsite and since the only way to purify the water is by boiling it, he decides to hide the lighter (their only source of getting fire) to get out of doing his assigned job. He hides the lighter in the dirty laundry, Daley begins washing the clothes with Eric still thinks that the lighter is in there. But the lighter actually fell out of the clothes and got covered in the sand. Nathan drives the shovel into the sand breaking the lighter. Everyone else wonders how the lighter got there, they ask Eric who of course lies, while they others already know that he is lying. Also a large lizard is found in the tent, and after Melissa suggests it, everyone agrees that Eric should go in there and get it out as punishment for what he did. Eric goes into the tent and handles the lizard without any hesitation and takes it into the bushes. After everyone else leaves, Melissa walks over to Eric who thanks her for not revealing that the reason he was unafraid about handling the lizard was because he has one as a pet back home.
Episode 5

Everyone is still upset with Eric for breaking the lighter and everyone gets a new responsibility except for him. Nathan is still trying to talk to Daley about their "relationship" now that she knows about Nathan's crush on her but she keeps changing subject. They then find that the plane has washed up on the shore and alert the others to their good fortune. They begin to decide whether to move up to the campsite, but realize they need more food, water, and fire before they begin. Taylor begins to make a diary by filming people as they collect food and back at camp, Nathan works to start a new fire. Nathan walks by Eric as he lays in the sand and accuses him of being unhelpful, when Eric asks what he could do to help, they walk over to the plane and Nathan tells him to begin taking things out to lighten the load. Nathan climbs on top of the plane and then gets his legs trapped under it as it tips over on him. Eric remains by his side for much of the time until the others return from their food search. The group returns with its fruit after an amount of time of going in circles. They find Eric's note, rush over to Nathan and rollover the plane to rescue him. After a hard day of teamwork, Eric surprises everyone by doing something productive and fixing the lighter.
Episode 6

At the evening of day 15, Taylor forgets to charge the batteries for the flashlights and then she proceeds to light a dozen or so candles by the firepot, using the last of the lighter fuel. A sudden rainstorm erupts and puts out all the candles and the fire. The castaways decide they need a bigger shelter with a solid roof to keep dry and warm, and that would be the downed plane. A discussion ensues about whether they could or should attempt to move the heavy plane up the beach nearer to the fire pit by rolling it on logs and pulling it with ropes. They take a vote and end up with a split decision. The tie is unexpectedly broken by Taylor who votes to move the plane to higher ground even though it means a lot more work. As they are finding logs to roll the plane on, Jackson and Taylor have a few minutes of unexpected interaction away from the group. Taylor has damaged the battery charger and tells Jackson she has really messed up. Jackson tells her not to worry and just be yourself. Taylor questions Jackson saying "It's easy criticize just being yourself when nobody really knows who you are." and he responds by producing the guitar, playing and singing a verse of a song he wrote, allowing her to see a little about who he is. The crew ultimately gets the plane up on the logs and tie ropes to the front in preparation for moving it to higher ground and converting it into a safer shelter. Daley gives a short motivating and thank you speech and Eric, not one to be outdone verbally, says a few words of his own. The crew of castaways pulls and strains to move the heavy plane wreckage up the hill and they succeed in moving it several feet, proving to themselves they can work together and accomplish something good. Deciding that "It's a start," they head back to the fire pit for the night. Since they no longer have a lighter or batteries for the flashlights, Taylor produces a charged flashlight. Lex says you fixed the charger. Day 16 ends with Jackson working hard at starting a fire with the usual stick and bow, as Taylor says, "Maybe you need a little less muscle and a little more touch, like playing an instrument." Taylor takes over and with the fine touch of a cellist, the flame begins.

With hopes for a better chance of survival, the castaways attempt to move the plane wreckage off the beach and head for higher ground.

Everybody finds mysterious notes, saying "It's coming". Everyone thinks it's Lex, until it appears to be Taylor, who wants to organize a (gasp) holiday! She wants that everyone dresses up and gives a present to the group. Everyone has problems with this until they finally come around and admit that they like the idea of a holiday. Except Daley, who appears to have bad memories of holidays in general, because they are tied to her memory of her mother. Reversely, Lex has a good association with holiday, because when he and his mother celebrated their first Christmas together with Daley and her dad, he felt for the first time like a family. Daley and Nathan have 'the talk', and Daley basically laughs it off, saying that she can't imagine her and Nathan together. Come the big holiday dinner, and everybody fights. Jackson does a (rare) a cam-diary. Jackson saves the day by giving his present, playing the guitar. Taylor is very impressed and exchanges smiles with Jackson. Melissa sees that and is jealous and flees to go talk to Daley, who sits alone on the beach. Daley explains that she turned Nathan down because she thinks a relationship on the island is bad, but actually, she really likes him.
Episode 9

Jackson is cutting firewood but has a bad stomach-ache. At first they have no clue of how Jackson became sick. Melissa, Lex and Eric come to his rescue. Melissa remembers when she first met Jackson... the first look into their past. Everyone helps out still wondering what is wrong with Jackson. It is revealed that Jackson became sick from drinking unsafe water. Melissa blames herself because she was the one who voted for Jackson to come to the island.
Episode 10

Eric finds driftwood proving there's a strong current from Guam which may well mean a way off, the island. The group votes for his plan to build a raft to test if the current heads west, as required. Because Jackson is still tenderly recovering and the others aren't good swimmers, only Nathan and Daley, who opposed the plan, have to man it. Although Eric has an ingenious raft design prepared, it ultimately unravels, while the explorers, who started to enjoy the expedition, foolishly headed dangerously far. The others can only watch from the beach.
Episode 11

Two weeks ago, Abby left a message and slipped off to look for the pilot's party. The others cope reasonably well in practical terms, but start to worrying most of all about their social life, as democracy is popular but dangerously inefficient, and sensitivity as delicate as rudeness. When Abby finally returns, having failed and is badly wounded after a landslide that tempted her to give up, she's changed into a selfish predator who cares for none of the others.
Episode 12

Lex discovers a wounded chicken and points out that must have been brought to the island by people. He wants to nurse it and hopes for an egg-laying hen. Eric wants to eat it and hopes to hunt more poultry. Now utterly egotistical bitch Abby makes the dispute a test-case for the viability of the democracy she openly loathes. Only Jackson can stop her killing what actually turns out to be a hen.
Episode 13

The chicken or eggs dispute's escalates into Daley's obsession with 'democracy' being questioned by others. Eric's plan to join Abby when she leaves on another journey to search for the pilot's party makes everyone doubt again. Daley calls for a vote on maintaining democracy, but looses it gloriously. Even Melissa decides to join Eric in the expedition party, so as to even up the groups.
