Arrival

Ten LA class mates plus clever kid-step brother Lex saved up and washed cars to afford their dream class trip, camping on Palau (Micronesia). But captain Russell's airplane crashes on an unidentified other South Sea island, without radio contact. Class clown Eric's attitude is to enjoy making the best of being 'stuck' on the beach. As the pilot is a lazy idiot, some teenagers try to take charge of getting organized for long-term survival, but junior genius lex is the one with the bright ideas.

The Quest for Fire

Nathan feels his scouting experience may make him the natural camp leader but Daley invokes her irrelevant class election, so neither has any actual authority. Good decisions get made only when Lex's brilliant ideas are listened to, which Daley can't seem to learn except the hard way: leech-sucked. Lazy bones Eric and the princess brat Taylor bond idly. Melissa finds the matches but ruins them by swimming. Jackson's secret weapon saves the day.

Nathan and Daley both campaign to be elected leader, mainly picking on each-other. Their attitude, incompetence and bribery only prove neither is competent. Melissa's video diary inspires Eric to shoot a survival 'movie' starring Taylor, which uses up the battery. Lex and Jackson save the day every time. The vote surprises both contenders.

Not a Drop to Drink

Jackson was voted leader, although not standing as a candidate, by everyone except both incompetent-found contenders, who now just bicker on about the blame. He initially refuses the job, but has to reconsider when a crisis arises about the depleted potable water supply. Several people wasted or stashed bottles, but various efforts to find alternative water ultimately succeeds. Jackson decides to accept the leadership, but only as coordinator of a team of 'specialist' with individual tasks while Lex will be the brain behind the throne.

A Fish Story

Now Jackson's system is in place, everyone tries doing their chores. Jackson tries fishing, but needs help, notably several suggestions on anonymous notes from 'a friend'. Eric gets tired of carrying water, so he eagerly accepts Melissa's help after a light injury he cunningly exaggerated. The others try gathering fruit, which Nathan insists doing the hard way, climbing coconut trees.

Now Jackson's chores system is in place, people apply themselves with greatly different zeal, in Eric's case to cleverly covering up an actual lack of it. Nathan's efforts on the signal kite prove ill-considered, and after Lex's instructions help him out still wasted. mandated to judge her by Jackson, Daley threatens lazy brat Taylor with starvation to force her to dig a latrine, but Eric inspires sweet (yet not exactly) revenge.

Eric overhears Melissa is secretly in love with Jackson, and blackmails her to do his water carrying chore as hush price. Nathan tells Eric about his embarrassingly 'intimate' rash. Lex finds unidentifiable wild oysters, but tasting as safety test is a risk, taken by Jackson. Snobbish airhead Taylor only eats it when told it's like sushi. Daley proposes seaweed. Eric gets seafood allergy. Luckily the emergency kit contains the necessary medicine.

Although the kids do well practically, the bleak prospect for rescue is hitting moral badly. Jackson even tries building a raft. So Lex, whose birthday seems forgotten, tries to mount a carnival, in fact a relay teams obstacle course. Nathan inadvertently insults 'outsider' Jackson, who decides to seek revenge in the race. The losers become the winners's slaves for a week. Jackson makes that work out remarkably.

Episode 10

Eight Is Enough

The girls have a silly fight over who gets a necklace they found in the airplane wreck, or rather over selfishness and Daley's arrogance. Searching for fruit with Nathan, Eric finds a not 'help' none of the gang could have left. Jackson divides the search party in two. He and Eric find a survivor from the pilot's party. It's Abby, fainted from exhaustion and dehydration. Melissa proves her first aid skills.

Abby Normal

After a week, the group was falling into place, but Abby's return overhauls the social dynamic. Even Melissa feels pushed out by her best friend, who appeals to the boys. The chaos gets so bad negligence even leads to a fire wrecking half the camp. Abby also reports about a terrible storms which knocked her out so she got cut off from the other survivors, and the island must be even bigger then they thought. Lex still manages to see positive prospects and convinces the others to make up by mounting a dance party with Abby.

Until Proven Guilty

Several people freak out when it looks like their secrets may be exposed since the video diaries have disappeared. After frantic detective work, the tapes are found where apparently only Lex could have put them. Eric suggests a jury trial, presided over by Jackson. Eric eloquently acts as prosecutor. Daley does a dry but effective defender's job. She comes to conclude from the fact the camera wasn't stolen that the motive must be less then obvious. That theory ultimately exposes several wrongdoers.

Scratch

As the trial closes, Jackson thanks Lex for his kind discretion but lets his video-diary be disclosed. It says he embraced the trip to escape home, unhappy with his foster family. Next he goes missing. Eric, who was least willing to join the search, finds him and convinces the leader to return by admitting it's scary without the strongest guy. Ultimately, Jackson confides he got entangled in a brawl with an accidental death, and fears to be wanted by the police although innocent.
