Episode 1
A massive apartment fire nearly takes Repo's life. This, coupled with the death of his father, causes Repo to reevaluate his life and make some fundamental changes that dramatically affect his new platoon at the West End Fire Station. Grievous is upset by a newspaper article that erroneously identifies Tex as the heroic firefighter who rescued a baby from the fire.
Episode 2
Georgie Parker, Peter Phelps, Andy Anderson and Aaron Jeffery head up the cast in this series about a group of 'firies' in Queensland. A new female recruit battles sexism in the male-dominated workplace. Meanwhile the police suspect that a serial arsonist is a member of the squad - as if their lives weren't hot enough already.
Episode 3
The Arson Squad approaches an indictment of Repo who has been stripped of his Station Officer duties by Spit. Tex is forced to confront her future when she learns that she is pregnant. A new publicity campaign with Tex as the poster girl once again has Grievous up in arms. Delores cooks up a special meal for Spit and Detective Lucas, who is back at the station interviewing the firefighters as part of the investigation against Repo. Mary and Tex are called upon to "disengage" a man from a vacuum cleaner.
Episode 4
When Seldom and Tex get trapped inside a burning building, Repo goes into the building and rescues them singlehandedly, proving himself to the platoon but at the same time earning Spit's wrath for deviating from what he considers to be proper officer behaviour. Tex terminates her pregnancy.
Episode 5
Seldom has become East End's new station officer. Spit sees in him a kindred personality given their similar backgrounds but it is with Mary with whom he discovers he shares a common pastime. Grievous learns that he is the father of a child born to lesbian parents - a son named Narwhal. During routine fire-safety inspections, Seldom and the platoon cross paths with nightclub owner Jimmy Runyon, an old adversary of Seldom's from his days in the police service.
Episode 6
Seldom is charged with assault and attempted murder in connection with his altercation with Jimmy Runyon but the case against him is quickly dismissed by a friendly judge - but not before it is revealed one of Seldom's colleagues is prepared to testify against him. An aggressive insurance claims investigator talks Seldom into testifying against Jimmy in a separate case and Seldom perjures himself in order to get the conviction. Seldom seeks out Jean Diamond, who is now drinking away her life while on sick leave, to help him nail Jimmy. The platoon plays a practical joke on Mary hoping to change his violent beliefs. Spit takes an interest in a chatty entomologist. Repo warns Seldom that his vendetta against Jimmy could jeopardise his career.
Episode 7
TNT informs the platoon of an impending strike order from the union. A massive out-of-control fire causes the platoon members to consider drastic actions to protect themselves from danger. Jean Diamond returns to work with the Arson Squad in order to pursue Jimmy Runyon. Seldom's actions on the fire ground lead to his suspension on a charge of mutiny. Quentin and Sophie spend the day together.
Episode 8
Seldom crashes Jimmy Runyon's daughter's wedding reception. The firefighters meet a young fire-bug whom they believe to be a victim of abuse, but are unable to intervene to help him. Spit surprises the platoon by bringing Sophie to a Father's Day party thrown by Delores. Seldom's daughter goes missing. She is quickly found, but not before Seldom confronts Jimmy thinking him to be responsible. Seldom tells Repo the reasons for his vendetta against Jimmy.
Episode 9
Seldom is brought to trial on the charge of mutiny. Jimmy asks Seldom to stop the vendetta. Jean Diamond's crusade against Jimmy Runyon comes to a violent end. TNT is transferred out of the West End Fire Station for his actions during Seldom's trial. Spit calls a sudden end to his relationship with Sophie after she crosses the line between his personal and professional lives.
Episode 10
Grievous' young daredevil cousin, Greta, joins the platoon. Along with Nugget and Repo, Greta is sent into a ship where several of the crew have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. An incident at Delores' birthday party becomes the focus of a crusading gender equality official.
Episode 11
Grievous, Seldom, and Tex are sent up to Cairns to appear as witnesses in an arson inquest but their hopes for a tropical vacation are quickly quenched. Tex's decision to pose for a firefighter calendar draws the scrutiny of the Fire Commissioner. Foreseeing a difficult time in regards to the incident between Nugget and Garbo, Repo calls on TNT for help in dealing with the matter. The "hand of fate" strikes Grievous while he's in Cairns bringing about a sudden lifestyle change. A charge of sexual harassment is officially lodged against Nugget by the Equal Opportunities Board.
Episode 12
Repo and Mary get stuck in traffic - an opportunity Repo seizes upon to make some quick cash. The pair are also called upon to attempt the rescue of a police officer and a suicidal man dangling precariously from a bridge. The charge against Nugget gets more serious as Pru and Wendy meet with the platoon to discuss the sexual harassment claim. Greta is feeling pressure from all fronts and considers quitting her job.
Episode 13
With the platoon on the verge of self-destructing, they are called on to respond to a fire alarm at a hotel. There, the platoon finds itself confronted by an armed madman who has taken over the hotel, setting booby traps and shooting at bystanders from a balcony. A selfless act of heroism has a fatal outcome for one of the platoon.
