One of the unsung heroes of the Second World War, Dowding was responsible for the air defence system employed during the Battle of Britain, and was intensely dedicated to the safety and success of his pilots. The film also reveals Dowding's later interest and participation in spiritualism.

Showing the vital role that women played throughout the Battle of Britain and beyond, serving in the WAAF (Women's Auxilliary Air Force) in the factories and airfields, radar stations and operations rooms across Britain, and in the ATA (Air Transport Auxilliary) flying and delivering Spitfires and Hurricanes wherever needed. Featuring interviews with many of the brave women who performed this crucial work.

Telling the story of the many fighter pilots who came from near and far to fly and fight for the Royal Air Force in the Battle of Britain. Featuring interviews with veterans from Poland, India, Canada, Britain and the USA.
Episode 4
The moving stories of those who experienced the ferocity and intensity of German bombing, as the Luftwaffe targeted the major cities of Britain. Featuring interviews with residents of Hull, Southampton, Bristol, Coventry and London, who miraculously survived the Blitz.
