Episode 1
Old Trafford, April 2003. Manchester United take on Real Madrid in a star-studded footballing spectacle, unaware that in the crowd is a little known Russian billionaire - Roman Abramovich. That night the course of English football was changed forever, as Abramovich decided there and then to buy a piece of the action. Three months later he snaps up Chelsea for £140m and sets out on a record spending spree in search of instant success.
Episode 2
The Premier League soap opera has a charismatic new lead - José Mourinho. Fans and media alike are left swooning at his swagger, a larger than life personality for a truly global league. Before even winning a game at Chelsea he's been dubbed "The Special One". Abramovich's cheque book may be open, but the pressure is on. Mourinho's predecessor has just been sacked for finishing second, now he must single-mindedly set out to land Chelsea's first title for 50 years.
Episode 3
The Premier League is awash with cash - star players are being enticed from around the world. The newly enriched clubs are hungry for talent - young men from working class homes in Britain can see the path to fame and fortune is open to all. Wayne Rooney breaks onto the scene in sensational style at Everton, quickly becoming one of the league's most coveted strikers. At Arsenal, a 15 year old Jermaine Pennant makes history when he signs for £2m, a record fee for a teenage talent.
Episode 4
Following a two-year honeymoon period at Chelsea where everything they touched turned to gold, the relationship between Mourinho and Abramovich begins to sour. After Manchester United reclaim the Premier League title, Mourinho is encouraged to sign players who aren't on his wish list. Then Abramovich employs Avram Grant as Director of Football - a move seen by some as putting a spy in the camp.
