The Caribbean has always been a dream destination for holidaymakers dreaming of that perfect getaway, and Antigua has long been a favourite for the British. Of course, it spent several centuries under British rule, and the connections endure in names such as Nelson's Dockyard and English Harbour. Today though, it's the 365 beaches, year round sunshine, and colourful cocktails that bring the visitors. Alex Outhwaite lives the dream, snorkelling in the warm turquoise waters, swimming with stingrays, and gently kayaking amid the mangroves. From relaxing floating bars, to the bustling markets of the capital, St Johns, Alex discovers the many delights that await the tourists, whether they come by plane, or on one of the many gleaming yachts that bob up and down along every coastline. And there's no shortage of adrenalin either, as she heads off road on a buggy safari, flies across canyons at the Rainforest Canopy zip wires, and zooms along the coast on a jet ski. And of course, with any holiday island there are amazing people, such as the famous and eccentric hot-sauce maker, and equally amazing parties - both on land and at sea.
