The plot begins with the story of two different woman: international piano player Monica Serrano and Adriana, a girl who works in a bar to pay her university tuition. Monica is just passing by for her last concert in town and accidentally meets Adriana. Before Monica leaves she realize that a very strange collar has came out of her purse and decides to find her. Now Monica and Adriana will become one.

We meet our 2 main characters. Adriana - a young bar waitress in Mexico, and Monica - a famous pianist in Los Angeles. Adriana's brother, Jacinto, has racked up gambling debt and is in trouble with Adriana's boss, Carlos. Monica is woozy after a piano concert and taking medication. Monica and Adriana meet when Monica's limousine accidentally knocks Adriana over. They share a ride and bond - however Adriana loses her pendant in the car, which a Shaman said helps stop her soul from wandering. Monica is heading home where she will be reuniting with her 2 daughters Camilla (estranged) and Emiliana. Carlos' goons beat up Jacinto because of his debts. Adriana goes to Carlos to help sort out her brothers' gambling debt but Carlos is not interested in money.
