Everybody remembers Josh's birthday except Drake, which thoroughly bums out Josh (especially when Drake throws a surprise birthday party for his new 5-day girlfriend, Tabitha, whose birthday befalls the same day). To make up for it later, Drake acquires tickets to a live taping of The Oprah Winfrey Show, whom Josh adores. In seeking the best parking spot, however, Josh runs down Oprah with his car. Drake and Josh try to apologize to her in the hospital, but their ruse to get past two bodyguards lands Josh in the biohazard ward for a chemical bath. In the end, Josh finally gets his heart's desire - a signature from his favorite celebrity (though at the bottom of a restraining order).

When Josh volunteers to watch his teacher's (Mrs. Hayfer's) house, Drake tags along. Josh's teacher didn't mention that her dog, Tiberius, is a big, scary Rottweiler. Animal Control arrives. Now there are three guys taking refuge in Mrs. Hayfer's bathroom.

The day of their Great-Aunt Catherine's wedding, Drake and Josh are enlisted to drive separately from their parents and sister so they can pick up the wedding cake. The only reason they are attending the wedding is because Aunt Catherine has a spacious beach house. Seeing as she's 89 years old, the family wants to be sure that they're left the beach house in her will; however, Drake unknowingly lends Josh's friend the car keys, leaving them to drive Drake's friends' beat-up car. Halfway to the wedding, with the cake in the back, they encounter car trouble in the middle of nowhere and have no idea what to do.

After Josh's girlfriend, Mindy Crenshaw, tells Josh she loves him, Josh is unable to answer and slams the door in her face. The next day at school, when Josh explains everything to Mindy, she's very understanding and gives him the weekend to sort out his feelings; Drake however suspects foul play. He thinks that, since the annual science fair is next week and Josh needs to finish his project this weekend, Mindy is trying to distract him so he won't be able to focus on his project and she'll win first prize. Josh believes him, but later finds out that Mindy was serious when she professed her love to him.

The family acquires an uninvited house guest when Josh recognizes his childhood idol, Henry "The Great" Doheny, but the once famous magician quickly wears out his welcome, whereby Drake grudgingly agrees to help Josh revive the man's dead career at The Premiere to be rid of him. To everyone's horror, an unrehearsed new trick goes awry for the aged magician. With folks gathered at the funeral to properly consign the once great Doheny to the great beyond, nothing short of a return from the dead can assuage the boys' sense of guilt.

As an anniversary gift for their parents, Drake and Josh agree to have their living room renovated by the company of a show called "Pimp My Room." Unfortunately, instead of fixing their living room, the company robs them of their furniture while they are kept out of the house. In order to pay for the robbed items, Drake and Josh decide to work at a fish factory packaging sushi. Of coarse, it doesn't go so well.

Tired of fighting over the family car, Drake and Josh want to buy their own but only have $1200. Walter offers to meet them halfway but Drake and Josh can't decide which car to buy. Later, Drake takes the money and buys the car dealer's mascot, an orangutan named Bobo, to potentially raise a lot more than $2400 in paid performances, which doesn't go over well at first. An eccentric doctor with exotic tastes buys the animal from the boys for a large sum of money. They are ecstatic until Megan finds out that the doctor may be up to no good.

Grammy sends Josh a model rocket, which goes off accidentally and burns down the neighbor son's tree house. A true accident. Josh, Drake and Megan are all tasked with rebuilding the tree house, which causes Megan to miss a birthday party for her friend Janie. Neither Josh or Drake admit it wasn't Megan's fault (which it wasn't), but she gets payback when the boys seal themselves in the new tree house before cutting open a doorway, slowly going hungry while missing a double date with twins.

Due to Drake's negligence leaving Josh stranded at home, Josh arrives late to school and misses an important Chemistry exam. This is the last straw for Josh, who cuts all ties with his stepbrother. It's not until Drake breaks down in Chemistry class (having to stumble forward on his own for a change) and realizes the importance of Josh's friendship that the pair can reconcile over a game of ping pong.

Eric, imitating a move from a chop-socky flick, accidentally knocks Drake out cold, leaving him with a black eye and derision, and Eric with sudden, unexpected popularity. While Drake discovers an ally in wanting things back the way they were (for a song), Josh becomes intensely jealous when ex-girlfriend Mindy hangs out with new fella Chad.

Josh and Drake take a picture of Megan's beloved pet hamster, and, in reaction, the furry little creature drops dead. Afraid of what Megan might do to them when she discovers the truth, Drake and Josh are on pins and needles waiting for her to get her revenge.

The boys get caught using fake I.D.s. Since grounding doesn't seem to keep them from getting into trouble, Walter and Audrey sign the boys into the Steered Straight program, meant to show juveniles the down side of being incorrigible lawbreakers. Unfortunately, a professional burglar hijacks the squad car carrying the handcuffed boys in the backseat. Figuring safety lies in pretending to be hardened criminals, the boys get stuck with an unwanted third partner in a proposed house-raiding scheme (their own), then with a gang of thugs in a kidnapping ploy.

Drake and Josh figure out that Megan is dating a boy and spy on her and her "boyfriend", Corey, on their date to the movie theater. During the movie, Corey attempts to kiss Megan, but Drake and Josh intervene, resulting in Corey breaking up with Megan because he thinks she comes from a "freak family". Later, when Megan refuses to leave her bedroom, and their dad forces them to fix the situation, Drake and Josh invite Corey over and beg him to get back together with Megan. He agrees, that is, if Drake and Josh give him their alarm clock, Drake's guitar, and both boys' pants. Later in the episode, after Corey and Megan get back together, Josh goes to the movie theater, where he works, to collect his paycheck and he sees Corey there with another girl! Drake and Josh once again meddle in Megan's life, and schedule a meeting between Corey, Megan, and "Girlfriend #2", Monica. Both girls break-up with Corey and the episode ends with Megan telling Drake and Josh she loves them. (Drake and Josh were both beat up by Corey and are wearing casts, slings, and bandages all over their bodies).

Drake and Josh get invited to the most popular kid in school's 16th birthday party. They are then uninvited when Drake makes out with the kid's girlfriend. Drake offers the kid his autographed Beatles album to the kid in exchange for entrance to the party, but the kid just takes the album and goes back inside to the party. Drake and Josh then sneak in to get back the album.

A new movie comes out called Helicopper. While buying tickets, Drake wins a contest to go skydiving. When his parents hear of this, they forbid him to go. He goes anyway, telling his mom he's going with Josh to the waterpark, so Josh covers for him and races after him, ending up in the helicopter with Drake. When the pilot tries to break up a fight, he is knocked out cold. He revives; but, while holding a parachute, Josh knocks him out of the helicopter, leaving the boys alone in a dire situation.

At Eric's birthday party, everyone thinks Josh should enter the local dance contest with his crazy, innovative moves. Meanwhile, Drake learns he's failing gym class, which will prevent him from graduating eleventh grade. These issues dovetail when Drake learns that winners of the state-sponsored dance contest will earn a high school extra credit, which Josh doesn't really need but Drake does. When Drake steals Josh's dance partner, the brothers clash - but so do their partners - leaving the boys with a desperate, last chance idea for winning the contest.
