The Bet

Drake and Josh make a bet to swear off junk food and video games. Megan makes both of them swear to dye their hair pink. When Drake and Josh's mom and dad discover them making a bet, they both make a bet as well. When things get really crazy, Drake and Josh can't hold onto their bet much longer and decide to break it.

Guitar

Drake wins an autographed guitar signed by Devin Malone, lead singer/guitarist for Drake's favorite band, Zero Gravity; however, Josh accidentally blows it up with an faulty amplifier, so he buys another guitar that looks exactly like Drake's. After finding out Zero Gravity is playing in San Diego, Josh tracks down Malone at the concert arena and asks him to sign it, which he does. When Josh accidentally breaks Malone's hand by slamming it shut on the guitar case, the band manager begs Drake, who finds Josh at the arena, to fill in for Malone. After a successful concert, Drake receives $1250 from Zero Gravity's manager but decides to give it to Josh, who eventually uses it to buy a tanning bed.

Episode 3

Movie Job

Josh inadvertently makes Crazy Steve, a somewhat unstable employee of The Premiere, quit his job. After witnessing it, Helen DuBois, the manager, hires Josh to replace him. Drake, tired of always running out of money for movie tickets, decides to get a job there, too. Helen, unfortunately, admires Drake's work quality rather than Josh. Josh decides to come up with a marketing plan, putting gold balls in multiple buckets of popcorn. Whoever finds one will win free movies for a month. Unfortunately, the plan goes haywire with everyone wrestling and punching in trying to find them. Soon after, Helen orders Drake and Josh into her office. Drake, feeling that Josh loves working at The Premiere, takes the heat for it and is fired. Later, he tells Josh that he deserves to work at The Premiere, since he's the better employee.

Football

Drake, tired of being embarrassed by Josh every time he talks to someone, wants him to try out for the football team and be cool. Much to Drake's disgust, Josh becomes equipment manager for the team. When Josh offers to bake brownies for the team, Megan puts flower dirt inside the batter. The team's quarterback gets so sick from the brownies that Josh, thanks to Drake, ends up taking his place for the upcoming game. Josh, worried that he will get mauled by the opposing team, wants to drop out, but Drake has an idea. They hire Zeke Braxton, the school's janitor, who used to be a pro football player until a head injury ruined his career and memory, to stand in for Josh for $10,000. On game night, Braxton get mangled by the opposing team but also gets his memory back. Without a quarterback, Coach Davis must forfeit the game. Josh, who doesn't want to let the team and school down, decides to play for real. Belleview wins the game, and Josh gets to keep the winning football as well.

Pool Shark

Josh becomes Drake's private gold mine when his natural brilliance at billiards emerges. Josh enjoys the brother-brother time, unaware of Drake (inspired by Megan) hustling as many marks as he can. Discovery of the hustles puts a wedge between the step-brothers, but Josh eventually agrees to one more. Unfortunately, it's right in front of a pool hall for a rough crowd, and it's the worst time for Josh to get cocky in his hustler role, making Drake rightly fear for their very lives.

Drake wants to date smart girl Michelle, even though she well out-classes his intellectual circle. Using Josh's help to impress her lands him on her Academic Team. An earpiece with Josh broadcasting at the other end sounds like the right solution to Drake. Meanwhile, Josh wants revenge on Megan for her ongoing pranks, but she's always one step ahead.

As Drake prepares for a talent show, Josh appears on his dad's weather show and discovers that he has stage fright, twitching and sweating on TV live. The forecast was unfortunately viewed by many in San Diego and Josh gets teased by viewers. At the talent show, a boy band steals the song Drake was originally going to perform with his band, forcing them to improvise. To also restore Josh's reputation, Drake offers to let Josh in his talent show audition and perform the song "Soul Man" (run by Helen at the Belleview Premiere). Drake, along with a no-longer-stage-frightened Josh, wins the contest with a great rendition of Soul Man.

Episode 9

Driver's License

Walter is very excited that both of his sons are going to get driver's licenses; however, Drake fails the test and doesn't get one. He doesn't tell Dad and has Josh drive him everywhere. Later, when Drake wants to impress a girl, he tells her that he has a driver by the name of "Chives" (who unfortunately turns out to be Josh). During the ride, Drake and Josh switch positions so that Drake is driving. He gets pulled over by a cop, and, of course, has no license. He explains that Josh was driving most of the way, who ends up getting another ticket.

Number One Fan

Overwhelmed (tied up) by Megan's Campfire Kids troop, Walter shifts complete troop leadership onto Josh. Josh loves to lead kids, but the troop is never serious about learning anything. One troop member, Wendy, has an unbalanced crush on Drake and does not make it easy for him to let her down gently as he approaches his radio performance debut on a radio station.

Mean Teacher

Drake's latest girlfriend has a laughing problem. He badly wants to break up with her but can't. She's the daughter of his mean English teacher who hates him but threatens him with summer school if he breaks up with her precious daughter. Seeking a way to make the girl break up with him, Drake invites her to dinner, where he presents himself as a total slob, but that doesn't seem to be enough.

The Gary Grill

Drake and Josh sell Gary Coleman grills for two men named Buddy and Guy, but the grills are hot merchandise and Drake and Josh get arrested. Megan gets Drake and Josh out of prison by tricking the two thieves, but then Drake and Josh run into Gary Coleman and trick him into a prison cell. Gary soon gets to Drake and Josh's house and, compensating for his loss, confiscates nearly everything that the boys spent their ill-gotten money on.

Drake backs away from spending every waking moment with Josh, forcing Josh to find new runaround buddy Drew, a nearly exact replica of Drake. Feeling replaced, Drake responds by befriending a new runaround buddy of his own - Jerry - a nearly exact replica of Josh. Now, after Megan makes sure to drive the point home, Josh feels replaced. Eventually, an LA TV producer approaches the two boys with a lucrative offer.
