Three part documentary on the 1970s phenomenon that was disco. Items discussed include: the underground origins of the music in it largely being dance music of the oppressed and marginalized in American society; the development of what became known as the disco sound; the move from the margins of society to the mainstream while keeping true to its origins; the role of the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever (1977) in fueling that phenomenon; the downfall of disco largely due to over-saturation which was driven by anyone and everyone trying to capitalize on the craze; and what has happened to dance music for the that population of the marginalized that drove disco to begin with.
