As a group of astronomers witness a rare stellar collusion on a cliff, British professor Bertrand Sworder, who became famous predicting it falls off a cliff while they allegedly all watch the moment through their telescopes. The evidence suggests suicide, as the investigation reveals that the man was being accused of plagiarism of his most famous theory, but the discovery of a half-finished crossword puzzle in this pocket contradicts the idea that he planned to kill himself, leaving the detectives questioning how someone could have pushed the man over the cliff without anyone else hearing it. Attending more then amateur astronomer Sunil Singh Kirmani, who runs an Indian observatory, claims he just reached a financial settlement not to publish a recording proving he actually devised Sworder's theory. Fresh widow Miriam is suspiciously uncooperative. Meanwhile Marlon feels somewhat threatened by Trainee Officer Darlene Curtis's exam success, while she feels passed-over by his dealing with former fellow thief and possible witness Eddie Marlow, while romance blossoms between Neville and Sally Blake and Selwyn moodily avoids facing his ex, retreated on a yacht.

Englishman Kit Martin, junior member and financier of a local preppers commune, is poisoned by coffee in their locked apocalypse bunker. No one witnessed him entering and the camera-angle did not allow seeing anyone entering until the team arrived, yet suicide is disproved. Neville's team find every surviving member had a motive, none apparent opportunity. Justin West's adulterous wife Raya West is caught digging the grave of Luna Jones, whom she accidentally shot fatally. DI Neville Parker and his date Sophie have a jet ski accident, causing her repatriated after agreeing not to attempt a long distance relationship. The murderer passed a cup of coffee with cyanide down to Martin in a blind spot of the camera Charlie Banks installed, Neville charges another with manslaughter. Marlon Pryce wants to enter the Sergeants exam but is daunted by the manual to study and the commissioner warning he still lacks experience, but Naomi Thomas calling him the team's wild card makes him persevere. Parker says goodbye to Sophie, while Justin West watches.

The skull-smashed corpse of real estate agent Cheryl Horner is found on the beach of the island she was showing as exclusive holiday home or investment to four potential clients, who were to bid with a 20% down-payment before midnight. However it was a scam, including her name, actually Darianna, with a long fraudster record. Only the four had apparent opportunity, but provide each-other's alibi. Scottish businessman Peter Galbraith also was her lover. Ryan Cook was actually her novice accomplice, who just found out she skinned their joint account from £200,000 previous loot. Hannah Roberts came to confront Darianna, having found out her Miami scam unsettled her brother, who thus died in a car crash, but she also teamed up with Ryan. Meanwhile Marlon, who finds his sergeant's exam manual too daunting, hopes to score credit with commissioner Selwyn Patterson by finding and trapping a counterfeit cigarettes operation, and pulls that off, but culprit shopkeeper Jermayne Boon actually also inspires Neville, who still pouts over Sofie, to tie him to the murder case crucially.

DS Naomi Thomas returns to her home island of St Barnabas for her best friend Monique Hays's wedding, when father of the bride Rex Hays wanders into the after-party with a knife in his chest, accusing his ex-wife and mother of the bride Odette Hays, who is however, recorded on a senior wedding guest's smartphone video during the murder. Neville Parker goes to St Barnabas with Marlon -sharing a bedroom uneasily- and trainee Darlene Curtis, teaming up with the local police chief, Naomi's youth-long mentor, to discover who in the wedding party is the killer, although everybody has an alibi. This includes working out various beefs with the deceased -including his firm right hand- and the reason discredited Odette left 15 years ago as alleged arsonist was bogus. On Saint Marie, Catherine cues the Commissioner to reconnect with his daughter, who will visit the island to discover her roots.

A celebration of a local children's home at its annual fundraiser ends in tragedy when one of its most famous former residents, millionaire contractor Vincent Petit, who just testified how the warm orphanage gave him the crucial start in life, is found fatally stabbed. Staffer Marianne Laforge claims responsibility, holding the apparent murder weapon, but that isn't the knife, the real one is later found miles away at an unrelated child's birthday party. Nudged, she says to be covering for a seventeen year old charge, who denies, despite her having blamed her father's fatal construction site accident on Petit, whose mystery childhood flame becomes key to Neville's solution. Meanwhile, the Commissioner's attempts to connect with his finally visiting daughter ends in the ingrate reproaching him lack of interest in her childhood. Marlon sits his sergeant's exam, alas ill-prepared. Sophie returns to the island to live with Neville and for a month, but they find his Shack messed up by an intruder.

Water taxi driver Jake Dalton is murdered on his boat just moments after Neville receives a letter warning him a murder is about to take place. Initial evidence points towards his neighbor, retired British criminologist and police consultant David Cartwright, albeit circumstantial. As his emotions begin to get the better of him, Neville becomes frustrated and storms round to confront him, but moments later, Cartwright is subsequently found stabbed to death. With no clear explanation for how the murder was committed, the team have no choice but to arrest Neville - but does the beloved detective really have it in him to commit murder? Dalton's wife Rose has an affair with Henry Baptiste, who has an alibi, and there was an identity swap. The commissioner gives Marlon a hard time for failing his sergeant exam.

After DI Parker tells the commissioner he plans to resign and return to the UK, a murder is committed, apparently right under his nose. Elijah St John, the husband of retired calypso star Babette Francois, is craftily poisoned by opiates OD -hus ow medication- in Kenton Sealy's famous rum bar. . Neville's crisis of confidence built upon his previous failure to recognize Sophie's duplicity,who in prison, asked if any of their relationship had been "real", says she never had romantic feelings for him but had come to like the character she pretended to be when she was with him. This closure enables him to concentrate on the current case. Emais show Elijah was contacted under alias by Babette's bastard daughter, which he abandoned to a Guadeloupe orphanage, fitting bar client *Romy Christophe, but the DNA paternity test is negative. Having failed to outbid Elijah at auction for a collection of calypso memorabilia, someone broke in to steal a demo, proving Babette's greatest hit was actually written by Kenton Sealy. After realizing the murder was carried out with a chemistry and rum switch trick, Neville arrests the killer and agrees to stay on Saint Marie.
