New York-based shipping magnate Phillip Carlton is found dead on the beach at a Christmas party, apparently having shot himself after recording what seems a goodbye video. London cab driver Colin Babcock reports having received a Christmas card from Saint Marie claiming Carlton was murdered. Commissioner Patterson orders Neville Parker, who was about to return home to Manchester for Christmas, to investigate the family. The Commissioner also recruits retired officer Dwayne Myers to assist as Florence Cassell is away spending time with her family. Suspects include Carlton's wife, her lover, Phillip's first wife, Carlton's daughter, and his poorly rewarded long term employee Bruce Garrett. Surprisingly, Colin Babcock arrives in Saint Marie with the Christmas card and an attempt on his life fails while he sleeps at Neville's. On a video call to Florence, Neville asks her out, but the computer screen freezes so he cannot see her reaction. Dwayne and Marlon are on a wild goose chase after suspected witness Zelda Moncrief on Guadeloupe. It turns out Philips's family secrets are the key to the case and his fortune.

Rich, devout Gabriel Taylor is fatally stabbed at a desolate telephone box after following elaborate cash delivery instructions from his brat teen daughter Clarissa's kidnappers and she was released. The phone box was the location for the final confirmation of her release after dropping off the money. Marlon and the also cocky new detective sergeant Naomi Thomas seem mutually attracted. Parker and team find the wife-mother Mia was a drug user and served a prison term, Clarissa's penniless dreamer boyfriend Jason Clarke was disliked by her parents, and incredulous Mia recognized a lurker as Otis Benjamin, released after ten years in Jamaica, her boyfriend and drug dealer there whom 'love rival' Taylor git convicted. The commissioner wrecks Neville's nerves by making him prepare and even host his club's charity quiz, Florence adding alcohol to his antihistamines causes a physical collapse, they finally establish they can only be good friends. After he cracks mystery has been, the team are shocked that innocent-found but repatriated parole-breaking suspect Otis was shot dead in Jamaica.

Bradley Faircroft visits brother Connor Faircroft, who runs a golf course on St. Mariewith his wife Holly and their teen son Jake. Islander Desreta, the club president, overhears Connor and Bradley fighting. Holly later receives a phone call from Bradley where he at first talks about Connor, then starts begging him to put something down before clearly being hit multiple times. Holly and Jake find Bradley struck over the head, the police find a bloodied golf club in Connor's locked locker. Yet Connor was caught smoking elsewhere on CCTV throughout the entire phone call. So who killed Bradley Faircroft and blames his brother? The answer is in family troubles including infidelity, poor management and gambling debts. Neville tries golfing and restores a good working relationship with Florence after agreeing to stay friends but Florence is also chosen to possibly go undercover in a drug operation to discover who killed Otis on Jamaica. Naomi discovers Marlon's useful ex-offender skills.

High-profile rising social media platform CEO Zach Ogilvy organizes a group parachute jump to welcome company executive recruit Alessa, insisting that they jump over a point with high wind risk. The others refuse and jump safely back to base, then call the police when Zach, having indicated that he would make the risky jump alone, doesn't return. A honeymoon couple finds him fallen in a tree, and it is discovered he was stabbed to death. A video shows Zach jumping from the plane, thus the only apparent possibility is that he was stabbed in mid-air, since the tree would have been too high for anyone to reach him there. Everybody has an alibi but also a motive, as Zach was a sadistic tyrant - even the pilot has a bone to pick with Zach. Meanwhile Florence is chosen to go undercover looking after the daughter of Miranda Priestley, the leader of a drug operation. Although recommended by the commissioner and Neville, she is scared to accept after her double Patrice trauma.

Florence has infiltrated the inner circle of drug baroness Miranda Priestley by posing as au pair Celeste, babysitting her adopted daughter Dolores. Unexpectedly, Miranda returned with "Celeste", Dolores, Miranda's sister Karin and 'security chief' Liam Calder to St Marie to negotiate with local businessman Harley Joseph. Florence witnesses Miranda and Harley arguing and then is woken by a gunshot during the night but is confronted by Miranda and told to get back to bed. The next day Harley is found dead in Harley's shed, where Miranda retrieved something, so the team must interrogate and solve the case all while not breaking Florence's cover, but she communicates her suspicion by Dictaphone hijack. The case is found to revolve around the murder years of ago of devout mother Priestley, linked to the earlier-murdered Otis.

Famous singer Ayana, finally declared clean in drug addiction, is found dead in her rehab room after an allergic reaction to aspirin which was substituted for her usual medication. Freshly recruited nurse Darlene Curtis, Dwayne's ex-girlfriend and friend of Selwyn's, who supposedly mixed up the pills despite aspirin not being prescribed at all, convinces him of her innocence. So the team concentrates on the other suspects: the victim's mother, the doctor in charge Mark Fuller, who left a famous Mayo clinic after intriguing allegations, her fellow patients and an mysterious outside stalker. To Neville's anxiety, his troublesome sister Izzy Parker arrives on a surprise visit to the island, disastrously taking over his beach hut. Naomi is temporarily promoted to DS after Florence's departure, but wonders what would happen if she could stay DS permanently, while Marlon forces her to a minor birthday celebration.

A group of Irish tourists, including Eve Wilding, visit St Marie to scatter the ashes of their friend. Eve leaves their hotel to phones the police, reporting a murder, but can't say which. Neville and the team arrive too late: they find Eve strangled and dumped in the pool, but Naomi is able to resuscitate her although she remains unconscious. The team are left speculating if it was her own murder she was attempting to report or the cremated man's, and what happened to Eve as the only way to reach the pool was through the room, and the suspects never left each other's sight. Neville remains still annoyed with his sister Izzy's presence on the island and their disturbed lives. Darlene becomes distracted by someone not having their wedding table toppers being delivered, but Marlon and her going after the obvious usual suspect stumbles onto something which blow the murder case wide open.
