August 10th, 2020, hurricane-force winds blast through Iowa battering the city of Cedar Rapids. In a state familiar with tornadoes, this rare Derecho packing powerful straight-line winds takes the city by surprise and leaves behind a trail of destruction. During the hour-long onslaught, two cousins shelter beneath a big rig as their farm is ripped to shreds. A father and son heading home rescue a long-distance trucker whose trailer has been blown off the road. While broadcasting live on social media, friends capture the moment their apartment's roof is torn apart.

September 16, 2020, slow-moving Hurricane Sally makes landfall along Alabama's gulf coast, the first tropical cyclone to do so since 2004. Intensifying to a Category 2 storm and turning east just prior to landfall, Sally catches many residents along the panhandle by surprise. Beach towns in Alabama and Florida are swamped by storm surge, while colossal rainfall floods areas inland. As Sally rages onshore, a massive barge breaks free of its mooring and threatens to demolish a couple's bay side home. In Orange Beach, a man and his wife watch the surge rise in their beachfront house and race to safety on their jet ski.

Years of drought turn much of California wildlands into a tinderbox, all that's missing is the spark. On August 17, 2020, a series of lightning strikes ignite multiple fires around Napa Valley, fanned by intense winds they rapidly intensify into the LNU Fire Complex. Surrounded by flames, a husband and wife must survive on a pontoon boat as the fire torches a marina. A family of former firefighters go head to head with the fire to save their ranch. During evacuations, two fire chiefs make an incredible discovery. To the south, the Creek Fire explodes on September 4th. Relentless Diablo winds spread the fire at breakneck speed, and the inferno quickly burns out of control. Around the rugged Mammoth Pools Reservoir, hundreds of visitors find themselves surrounded by flames as a National Guard helicopter is sent on a nighttime rescue mission.

August 4th, 2020, Hurricane Isaias slams into the North Carolina coast before tracking northwards, spawning 37 tornadoes in 8 states and causing catastrophic flooding in Pennsylvania. The flash flooding in Pennsylvania traps a young family on the roof of their car and good samaritans must pull off a dangerous rescue. Teachers try to protect their students at a daycare center as it is smashed by a tornado.

March 3rd, 2020, a supercell makes its way across Kentucky and sets its sight on Tennessee. Not long after 10 pm, an EF1 tornado touches down in Gibson County in West Tennessee. This is just the beginning of a night of terror. At 12:30 pm, an EF3 hits Nashville, carving a path of destruction as it heads east. In the end, Cookeville Tennessee is hit the hardest, when the same supercell spawns an EF4 tornado around 1:50 am and lays waste to residential Cookeville taking 19 lives, 5 under the age of 18. That night 10 tornados ranging from EF0 to EF4 touched down in Tennessee, leaving approximately 1.6 billion dollars in damage and taking 25 lives.

Just after shuttering many businesses in response to the Pandemic, Jonesboro takes another hit from Mother Nature. On March 28th, 2020 at 4:58 pm an EF3 tornado touches down on the south side of the city and plows its way across the busiest parts of Jonesboro. The Mall, the Airport, and several subdivisions take direct hits as the tornado travels approximately 12 miles before finally dissipating. With one possible reason being the COVID shutdown, there are only 22 minor injuries, and thankfully no lives were lost.

April 9, 2015 - a devastating tornado causes havoc in Illinois. In Rochelle, many locals become trapped - in their homes and on the highway. Local restaurant customers seek shelter in a cellar. As the tornado continues to tear through Illinois towards the small town of Fairdale, the onslaught creates challenges to the emergency personnel as they search for survivors.

As Laura does her worst, NICU nurses rush to bring babies to safety as the Hospital is hit; storm chasers turn rescuers pulling a man and his dog from their flipped trailer home; The Weather Chanel's very own Stephanie Abrams finds herself in the path of near-deadly debris.
