Lawyer of the Year

Ken's delight at being nominated for Lichfield's Lawyer of the Year takes a knock on discovering that he is competing with high-powered colleague Jane so Lorna tries to fix it for him to win. His success is only partial but Dale's attempt to get as job and enable him to marry Rachel by entering into a partnership with Steve's new bar gives far more cause for concern.

The License

Following his outburst at the awards ceremony Ken is suspended from the firm for a month - which he keep[s from Lorna, accompanying her to a nursery to place their son Sid. Due to a misunderstanding Sid is enrolled but everything falls apart at a children's party. Steve and Dale attempt to procure a liquor licence for their bar but have to resort to bribery.
Episode 3
Ken's New Friend

Initially annoyed by new neighbour Lloyd's noisy birthday party Ken is won over by their mutual love of Vespa scooters and they become friends. Meanwhile Dale discovers that Ken is still on suspension and is persuaded to keep the news from Lorna whilst Ken must keep from Lloyd the fact he called the police to stop the party, leading to Lloyd's girlfriend being deported. When the truth comes out things look bad for Ken twice over.

Trapped

After Lorna turned him out for lying Ken sleeps at Steve's club but gets boarded up by the builders. Breaking free he inadvertently reunites Steve and Connie, the latter having briefly been Dylan's girlfriend. Dale meanwhile is over-joyed to think he could be a father but disappointment follows.

Walkabout

Still under temporary suspension from work Ken is puzzled to find Rachel missing and horrified to learn that Dale has fulfilled her desire for "more space" by stranding her in the Pennines. He bundles Dale into the car to find her and return to Lichfield in time for the meeting to save his job. The former is more successful than the latter.
Episode 6
Opening Night

Ken plans to charm his colleagues into reinstating him by asking them out to dinner but it means missing the opening night of Steve and Dale's club. Rachel has accepted a job in Sierra Leone, which also involves missing the occasion. Steve attempts to save the situation for Ken by asking his work-mates to the club but Dale has to decide whether to go with Rachel or stay. Fortunately Steve provides the solution.
