Based on DNA evidence, Mac suspects it's his friend who's behind it but he denies it. Meanwhile back in New York the team is placed in danger by the stalker. Because of the DNA evidence Mac says the only possible suspect is his friend's brother but he doesn't know what happened. Mac later realizes his friend's brother and Stella's suitor Drew Bedford are the same. So he goes looking for him but is captured. So the team tries to find him.

Mac thinks someone tried to use the gun to kill someone but it misfired, it was used to bludgeon the person and then thrown out a window and when it struck the statue it fired. He finds the one who was beaten, a family court judge. Mac learns that the man is not exactly popular and there are a lot of people who didn't like him including his own daughter. Flack goes looking for Danny who didn't come in. He goes to his place and finds material on the man who was responsible for the death of his neighbor.

A burning corpse slams to the front of a fire brigade vehicle at high speed. The victim is identified as the underground street luge racer Declan Hollister (nicknamed "Demon"), who reputedly broke a speed race record just days before his death. The main suspects for his death are his competitors Mercury and Sandra Polk (nicknamed Concrete Cowgirl), though they both claim to have had a friendly rivalry with him. The CSI team has to determine whether his death was accidental or intentional. In the other case of the day, the social worker Vanessa Matlyn drowned when a high-tech public toilet inexplicably flooded with water. Her body reveals that she had recently survived a knife attack. Traces of the DNA of the convicted killer Seth Riggin are found on her fingernails, though the man has been serving a prison sentence for half a decade and could not have been present at the time of her death. While the CSI team investigates Vanessa's personal life and shady contacts, Seth starts claiming that his evil doppelganger is responsible for the crime.

Several months ago, an anonymous female assassin killed a judge, an internet celebrity, and a high-profile politician. She then vanished without a trace, despite the efforts of the CSI team to stop her escape. In the present, the police gets a tip about the assassin's hideout. When they get there, they apparently find the assassin herself tortured to death. While investigating her death, the police realize that this woman is not the real assassin. An executive assistant named Katie Mann (who had a similar appearance to the assassin) was kidnapped and surgically altered to look identical to the assassin. She was then tortured for weeks, before being left for dead. The CSI team figures that the assassin wanted to fake her own death. Katie was the assistant and right-hand-woman to local politician Jordan Gates. The police fear that the assassin will try to assassinate Jordan and other politicians during a public event, using information gained from Katie during her captivity. Their goal is to prevent any assassination and to capture the assassin.
