(SPOILER) Investigation by Conrad into the romantic relationship between Sara and Grissom may lead to Sara departing the LVPD CSI.

Grissom and Catherine investigate the double homicide of a married couple in a motel room. Both were shot and there is evidence of sexual activity in the room. Their concern turns to the couples children and when one is found dead in her bed at home, the police desperately search for the second daughter. The case is tied to the self-styled Rev. Rhodes who also happens to be a registered sexual offender. Now working on the day shift with a new partner, Ronnie Lake, Sara investigates the death of a homeless man.

Brown and Stokes investigate the death of a young man found hanging from a tree. They believe this to be a hate crime as the man had breasts and is believed to be a pre-operative transsexual. As the investigation continues however, they learn he worked at a local water treatment plant and may have been up to something else entirely. Sidle and Lake investigate when a skeleton is found at the construction site for a new hotel. The site was once the Rampart Hotel owned by Catherine Willows' father. Her mother provides valuable information on the case. Grissom and Sidle decide on their future.

The Chick Chop Flick Shop

The team investigates the murder of Weatherley Adams, a horror/slasher film actress found on the set with an ax in her back. The autopsy reveals that she was gored but that the ax wasn't the murder weapon. There was also too little blood at the scene leading them to believe the body was moved. When Ronnie Lake discovers a second body at the studio hanging from the rafters, she also comes face to face with the killer. Sara Sidle despairs at having to face 'death everyday.

In a crossover episode with Without a Trace (2002) Catherine and Grissom work with FBI Agent Jack Malone when a palm print at a Las Vegas crime scene matches that taken at a New York crime scene 6 years previously. In the older case, a babysitter was killed and the four year old in her care, Jason Taylor, was kidnapped. In the Vegas case a woman, Carmen Davis, and a young boy are killed in her home. DNA confirms that the boys are not the same person but confirms that the perpetrator was responsible for at least two other murders. When a patrolman is killed, the killer has yet another victim. (the story continues on Without a Trace Episode. 6.6)

Sara Sidle comes face to face with an old, unresolved case when she investigates the death of Keira Dillinger. The young woman was a freshman the University of West Las Vegas and she fell, or was pushed, from her eighth floor dormitory room window. Sara learns that until recently, she had been dating Marlon West who had previously been found not guilty of murder when his sister Hannah falsely confessed to the crime (see Episode 6.18). Hannah is a certified genius and Sara is again convinced that she is being manipulated by her. Overall, Sara is depressed and has grown weary of the death around her and what she sees as the futility of what they try to accomplish.

You Kill Me

Hodges gets Wendy and others on the staff to play murder games where they have to "process" imaginary crime scenes Hodges has sketched out. Wendy informs him that she is thinking of taking the CSI field test. It also turns out that Hodges has a specific reason though for engaging his colleagues in the game. Everyone is worried about Grissom but he doesn't want to talk to anyone about Sara.

Cockroaches

The team investigates two deaths after the police chase a garbage truck. The driver, Brody Biggs, was killed when he was struck by a car and a club owner, Jason Crewes, whose body was compacted with the garbage. They find a link between the garbage truck and a former member of an old-time mafia crew, Lou Gedda, who now owns a popular strip club. Warrick is working the case but prescription drug use and his divorce are having a negative impact on the job. Warrick's troubles are compounded when one of the strippers is found dead in his car.

Lying Down with Dogs

The body of a wealthy socialite, known for her charitable contributions, is discovered in a dumping ground along with the bodies of several dogs. The investigation reveals the victim was involved in illegal dog fighting and may have tortured some of the animals at a kennel. Meanwhile, Warrick tries to prove he is innocent of murdering an exotic dancer whose body was found in his car outside a nightclub.

Bull

Grissom and Willows investigate the death of a rodeo star found in middle of the bull ring. He was at the end of his career but was a champion bull rider. When, a few hours after his death they discover the body of a prostitute who had been staying in his hotel room, they're sure they have a double homicide. The trick, as always, is to try and determine who killed who. Although the woman had been run over by her the rodeo star's truck, the pathologist determines that he died before she did. So determining just who was driving the pickup truck - and the reason they were in a rush - provides the solution to both deaths.

Grissom's Divine Comedy

Grissom is dragged into work from his sick bed when Deputy DA Madeline Klein sees her 10-month investigation into a Latino gang killing falling apart. Her key witness, who can put one of the gang leaders at the scene of a murder, has been brutally killed. She needs Grissom to find forensic evidence that will lay the witnesses murder at the gang's feet. When the gang leader's apartment is destroyed just as Warwick and Grissom arrive to examine it, it is obvious that there is an information leak somewhere in the system.

A Thousand Days on Earth

Grissom leads the team in the investigation of a murdered 3-year-old child found in a cardboard box near a parking lot. The child died from a severe blow to the head and had chemical burns on much of her body. Catherine Willows in particular takes the death quite hard and will stop at nothing to find the killer. When the box she was found in is traced to a registered sex offender, Willows ignores other evidence that calls his guilt into question.

Drops' Out

Grissom and the CSI team deal with what appears to be two related deaths. In the first, a young woman is found dead in an apartment, the victim of multiple gunshot wounds. When they find blood dripping through a hole in the ceiling, they find another victim in the upstairs apartment. When the autopsy reveals that different guns killed the two victims, the only connection they have left is that a man who has been in jail for several months rented both apartments.

The Theory of Everything

Things get off to a hot start when a prisoner under interrogation tries to force his way out of the police station. When pepper spray doesn't stop him, he is tasered but he bursts into flame. The autopsy also reveals that he has green blood. When others are brought into to the morgue with green blood, the CSI team is able to trace a common thread running through all of the victims and a homemade drug all of them were using.

Two and a Half Deaths

Tv series star Annabelle Fundt, a vicious diva, is murdered by smashed skull in her Vegas hotel, and shortly after her surgically enhanced lookalike-PA Natasha Steele in a sabotaged car in Hollywood. The team considers possible motives from studio politics, revenge or greed on the part of a lover, either co-star and heir Bud Parker or a scorned former flame.

For Gedda

Warrick claims amnesia when arrested, found covered in the blood of his mob nemesis Lou Gedda in his nightclub Pigalle, chained with Warrick's handcuffs. CSI has to transfer the case officially to IA officer Wagenbach, but Grissom manages to conduct an unofficial investigation, which gets may take over if they can prove a link with the case of Warrick detective friend, who was also murdered, his corpse only discovered because the coffin it was hidden in below another broke down. After forensics show how it was done and identify a cop mole, his presumed accomplice higher up the chain strikes again.
