During a performance of the world famous circus-act "Cirque du Soleil" the young investor Robert O'Brien's body is found dead on stage, apparently having shot himself. The gun belonged to co-investor Joe Hirschoff, who inherits his Eclipse shares and was deep in debt; however a rare muscular disease can explain O'Brien's finger position. In the Las Vegas club Ka, the young Celia Noel's body is found on stage; security cameras noticed her slip in back-stage with Arnie Clifton. Brass receives a high-profile honor, but puts the plaque away considering he committed an unforgivable rookie's error. The next morning Catherine wakes up naked in a bedroom, neither hurt nor robbed, but takes the evidence in rape-cases from herself.

The death of the washed-out pop star Izzy Delancey slumped over his kitchen table is investigated by Det. Sofia, Grissom, Sara, Nick and Greg. There is an identical miniature of the kitchen and Izzy's body, including the pool of real blood around his head that intrigues the team. The person that killed him had access to the house and there are many suspects: his wife Madeline; his nanny and mistress Annie Lansfield; his ex-wife Dusty; his stepson Sven. However none of them is the criminal and Grissom does not have any other suspect. Meanwhile, Catherine investigates her assault and only Sara knows what happened to her last night. While Catherine is driving Lindsey home after a dance rehearsal, her car is t-boned by another car and her daughter is kidnapped. Catherine is forced to disclose what happened to her to Grissom and to Sam Braun, with tragic consequences.

A terribly violent gang wearing hoods terrorizes Las Vegas with blind violence. First a Latino man is beaten to death during a robbing, then a Jewish female tourist is kicked in hospital so she fears for permanent maiming. Yet it becomes clear that racism isn't the motive when Greg Sanders reports he's witnessing an attack on a white man, but when he tries to chase them in his jeep is attacked, dragged out and also lands in hospital. Fortunately there is plenty of physical evidence, clearly linking the attacks, which Gregs shocked CSI colleagues are now most eager to process and link to young suspects...

Double Cross

When two nuns find a crucified woman on the top of the altar of a church that is being renovated, the CSI team comes to the crime scene. Warrick and Nick use a pulley to bring the body to the floor; Catherine follows the blood trail; and Grissom and Capt. Brass interview Father Frank Berlin, who tells that did not recognize the woman but is evidently lying. Using the car key on the place, they find the car and its owner, Hugo Bombay. He identifies the woman as the singer Charlotte Danville, who was talking to the local car dealer Cody White. Capt. Brass interviews Cody while Catherine goes to Charlotte's apartment, where she finds a photo of Charlotte, Cody and Father Frank when they were teenagers. Therefore, they were friends and now the CSI team will follow another lead.

Burn Out

When the eleven-year-old Jason Crowley and the ten-year-old Lucas Hanson go missing, there is an Amber Alert in Las Vegas. Capt. Brass has a meeting with the police officers to give information about the case and Nick, who is investigating an arson case, calls Grissom and tells that both cases may be related. The owner of the house, Carl Fisher, is a pedophile with record and claims that every time there is an Amber Alert, someone wants to kill him. Brass interviews the mother of Lucas, Dawn, at the police station and she blames her ex-husband Perry for kidnapping Lucas. Sofia and Catherine interview Jason's grandfather, the violent Terrance, who is taking care of his grandson while his son is working in Houston. They proceed their investigation and they find that Terrance had fought the boys in an abandoned house and they flee from him. Meanwhile, Grissom convinces Fisher to stay in the precinct to help him in his investigation. When the body of Lucas is found buried in a golf club, the CSI team seeks out other evidences to find who might have killed the boy and what happened to Jason.

Grissom, Willows and Sidle investigates the murder of 65 year old Penny Gardner who was apparently pushed through her living room window and bled to death from the cuts she sustained. The woman suffered from advanced cancer but they can find no painkillers in her house leading them to initially explore robbery as a motive. When the miniature killer leaves his calling card however, they know who they are dealing with. Greg Sanders attends the coroner's inquest into the death of Dimitrius James whom he struck and killed with his car in order to prevent him from killing someone.

Happenstance

The CSI team investigates the death of identical twins at opposite ends of town within just a few hours of each other. Willows believes the cases have to be related but Grissom isn't so sure. Amanda Sinclair was a happily married mother who was simply dropping off her dry cleaning when she was shot in the parking lot. Jill Case was the editor in chief of a major Las Vegas daily newspaper and she is found hanging in her apartment, an apparent suicide. As the investigators look into the case, they learn that the two women were both adopted and didn't know of each other's existence. When the autopsy reveals that Jill Case was strangled and the hanging staged, it becomes apparent that the two cases cannot be coincidence.

The CSI team is confronted in a short time with a series of corpses from the past, or rather two: several members of a crime syndicate from the sixties, and people associated with them. There are pictures on the scenes showing persons together, and several aliases all are taken from or based on characters from horror movies such as the Nightmare on Elm Street, Jason or Scary Movie cycles. A mysterious photographer takes pictures in the morgue but Dr. Al Robbins notices he's only pretending to be new on staff. It seems the killer assumed many identities using professional disguises and may be former cop Eddie Sanchez who stole a fortune from the mobsters...

Loco Motives

Grissom and Catherine find a man caught from the waist down in cement, besides a woman who was stabbed to death. Even after a long search it only makes sense after he tells his story, confirming his bitter uttering his whole life is incredibly unlucky. Nick and Worrick discover the first of three corpses in a firm where electrocution is used for the killing and processing of poultry for human consumption; the firm had been the target of animal rights actions which damaged it badly, and some of an obsessive scale model makers works are found at three crime-scenes.

Leaving Las Vegas

While testifying in court in a murder case, Catherine sees the suspect Jay Finch be considered not guilty by the jury despite the evidences. The defense attorney Adam Novak succeeds to convince the jury that Jay in not the guilty. Catherine and Nick watch Jay's interview, but she knows that she cannot charge Jay again for the murder of his mother since it would be double-jeopardy. So, they look for unsolved crimes that Jay could be the suspect. They use the mileage in his odometer to seethe towns where Jay could have gone, and they find an unsolved murder in Larkston. She tells Grissom that she will leave Las Vegas, and he tells Catherine that he will leave on a four-week sabbatical and she will be the responsible for the department.

Sweet Jane

When a young woman is found dead in an abandoned area, Catherine investigates the crime scene. Soon Grissom's CSI replacement Mike Keppler, from Baltimore, arrives to help her to look for evidences, but is careless and touches the victim's hair. They do not find any belongings or ID of the victim. They proceed the investigation and using her fingerprints in the missing people database, the identify her as Veronica Sorenson. Keppler believes the killer has done it before and using Veronica's characteristics in the database, they find three cold cases from 1975, 1989 and 1999. Now Catherine, Keppler, Sara and Nick revisit the cases to see if the old evidences may be used in their state-of-art equipment and provide new leads.

Redrum

When the Assemblyman Danilo Zamesca is found shot to death in his car, Catherine and Nick investigate the crime scene. Zamesca has dedicated his life to fight drug dealers since the death of his son. The CSI team collects evidences and soon they identify the killer as the drug dealer Thomas Simon. However, the criminal vanishes and the Powers that Be and the media press the department. When Catherine, Keppler, Brass and Undersheriff McKeen are discussing the case having breakfast, Keppler suggests the use of reverse forensic, meaning to fake a crime scene to lure Thomas Simon. He says that he had had a positive result in Philadelphia, but it had failed in Baltimore since there were leaks of the investigation. However, Mckeen buys the idea and orders Catherine, Keppler and Brass to keep secret to everybody, and deceiving the rest of the team.

The burned corps found in a fire in an ex-con's auto shop appears that of recently released ex-con Ross Neddy, but is a fake, made from the remains of bodies illegally robbed to harvest bones and tissues, probably also meant to give him the ideal alibi. Businessman Bill Dorton finds the bloody corps of his middle-aged wife Margo Dorton at home. She visited a pole dancing cabaret but was a client of the host club, where she enjoyed the high-priced male escort services (no sex) of Jesse Hottman, and had a scuffle with strip dancer Cotton Candy, who was obsessed with Jesse, who works same two dozen clients simultaneously...

Nick and Keppler investigate the crime scene in a hotel room, where a man was shot twice on the bed and a prostitute on the floor with one shot to the back and severed left hand. Capt. Brass tells them that the man is Det. Dennis Graves of the Trenton Police Department and Det. Frank McCarty found the bodies. Frank is the father of Keppler's love Amy McCarty, who died years ago, but they do not disclose their relationship to the CSI. Soon Frank presses Keppler to get rid of the evidences of the case; otherwise, he will expose his past and all his cases will be annulled.

Monster in the Box

Grissom has just returned to his office and opens a package that he received before his departure for the sabbatical. Surprisingly, he sees a miniature of a murder that has not happened yet. Catherine and he verify the detailed model and based on a newspaper, he sees that the murder will happen on the day after tomorrow. They question whether Ernie Dell would have an apprentice while the team rechecks all the evidences of the miniature cases. Using two flyers on the coffee table of the miniature, Grissom finds the neighborhood covered by both delivery services and Nick and Warrick looks for the possible building where the victim lives. She is the obnoxious psychologist Barbara Tallman, and they bring her to the police station. There, Capt. Brass, Sofie, the CSI and LVPD plot a plan to catch the Miniature Killer, replacing Barbara per the police officer Kamen. When the plan fails and the Kamen dies, they look for Ernie's son.

Fallen Idols

When two high school students vanish after a basketball game, Capt. Brass interview their obnoxious parents. Ryan Lansco is a popular top player and his girlfriend Megan Cooper is a cheerleader. Brass requests Grissom to investigate the case and soon he finds Ryan's blood in his parking space. Grissom and Nick follow the trail the blood to the football field, where there is a large pool of blood. They also see a shed which door has been kicked and broken glass inside. Meanwhile, Sara interviews Megan's best friend Sheila Lathan, who has headache and is evasive in her answers. Catherine checks the phones records and learn that last call from Megan was to Sheila and the last call from Ryan was to his photography teacher Diane Kentner. Warrick interviews Diane and learns about Charlie Kellerman, who loves Megan, who loves Ryan. Hodges investigates the broken glass and informs that it is an optical glass of a professional camera. When Nick and Greg find Megan seriously wounded, she is taken to the desert Palm Hospital. They also find Ryan's van, and while processing the sleeping bag found inside the van, they find crabs louse. Now the investigators use the evidences and interview to determine what has really happened.

Sara goes with him and hold his hand in the ambulance and soon they find the killer.

By surprise a live rat escapes from the autopsy corps. The other technicians furiously abandon him when realizing Hodges was not asked by Grissom, but he perseveres and finds a bizarre material common point...

Ending Happy

The team investigates the death of Lorenzo 'Happy' Morales, a one-time ranked middleweight boxer who has fallen on hard times and is now living at Binky's Sugar Cane Ranch, a licensed brothel. Happy is found floating in the pool but the coroner is having a hard time coming up with a cause of death. Based on the evidence, they are able to prove that one of the girls hit Happy on the head with a crowbar, someone shot him through the throat with an arrow, another injected him with snake venom and finally, someone induced anaphylactic shock by exposing him to seafood in a most unique way. However, none of the evidence points definitely to which occurrence was the actual cause of death.

Warrick notes that Hank's hobby was taxidermy and soon Grissom finds the head of Chyna mounted on the wall. Grissom also finds books about aliens, UFOs and the reptilian conspiracy. When Brass interviews Hank's friend Shannon Turner, he realizes that he is dealing with a group of crazy people.

When a man wearing cowboy clothes late night at the Oakley's Old West Town tries to strangle Lady Heather and she does not react, the night watchman Vernon Porter finds her wounded and fainted. The CSI investigators investigate the case, but Lady Heather does not collaborate and refuses to tell who tried to kill her. When Grissom is informed of the case, he heads to the hospital to talk to her. When Vernon is found dead with a gunshot to his back, Lady Heather becomes the prime suspect, but she has a strong alibi. Meanwhile, Nick and Warrick are called by Det. Sofie to investigate the crime scene of a dead woman on the street. When Warrick opens her purse, he finds several wallets and driver licenses and he concludes she is a pickpocket and her name is Faith Maroney. They believe a taxi driver hit-and-run her.

Living Doll

Grissom continues to investigate Dell's thirteen foster kid, and finds that one of them died two years ago. When Cap. Brass calls him to go to the apartment of Trevor Dell, they find him dead in his bathroom and a miniature of him. However, there is no model of the crime scene. However the miniature is enough to identify the DNA of the killer, who was careless this time. Wendy is not able to identify the killer, but she tells that is a woman. When Grissom brings Trevor's bracelet to the owner of a hobby shop owned by craftsman Art Schuster, the man recognizes the piece and that his client Natalie bought it. Now the LVPD and the CSI have a lead to be followed. Meanwhile, Grissom receives a package with a miniature of a car accident in the desert and the victim is Sara Sidle.
