After Ray Langston's case, CSI is affected in Las Vegas and Los Angeles and a new boss, D.B. Russell, is assigned and Catherine Willows is demoted from her position. Morgan Brody has made an application to the CSI Las Vegas. Meanwhile, the team investigate a shootout in a casino tram, where two person dies and they try to understand what might have happened. The orthodox method of D.B. Russell surprises the team. Meanwhile, Greg and Sara are assigned to investigate the death of a man found in the desert with sagging skin, but he was a young man. Greg shows Sara a Norwegian technique to separate skin from the muscle, and they follow this trail.

When the sprinkler in a garden of a house sprays blood, the police and the CSI arrive at the scene. Soon they find the four members of the Chambliss family are murdered in the house that is covered in blood. They find a trail of blood to the neighbor John Lee that is arrested and soon he confesses the murder spree. They learn that John Lee is a pedophile that has changed the clothes with blood of the eight-year-old Fiona, for whom he was obsessed. Then a woman, Leslie Gitig, comes to the police station and tells that they had arrested the wrong killer since she had murdered the family. The CSI investigation shows that a man called Lonny Gallows might have killed the family, but his father Maurice says that he had killed the family and not his son. The reasonable doubt is formed and Russel mentions the movie "Strangers on a Train".

Nick is dating Dr. Robbins' niece in an art gallery when he notes that one concrete piece is dropping blood. Russell arrives to help him and soon they find a face in the cement. They summon the artist that tells them that he found the piece in a park where people dump their trash. Nick recognizes the flower earring the victim is wearing and remembers a case Sara worked a few years ago. Now she joins the investigation and learns that the serial-killer Gina Sinclair has been recently released from the prison by the justice. Gina and her husband Todd kidnapped teenagers, sexually abused them, then dismembered their bodies and dumped cement blocks with their parts. Todd had assumed the crimes and now the sadistic Gina becomes their prime suspect. Meanwhile, Greg and Morgan Brody investigate the case of a man found dead in an alley. The autopsy indicates that he apparently was drowned in a chocolate tank. They go to the Sinful Pleasures factory and the owner, Angie Salinger, identifies the victim from a photo and tells that he had recently visited the factory asking for a job.

Attending the opening of a new museum on Las Vegas mob history, like several mob widows, expert Greg and D.B. witness how the ex-mayor (who defended many of them as attorney, Oscar B. Goodman) would have been killed hadn't it been for a bullet proof tailored suit during the show by three shooters from different positions. Outside, a security guard's corpse is found, nose bullet-smashed. It looks like it least one presumed-dead mobster is actually alive and kills again, also on the run. Regular casino suite guest prince Hamad Al Maktoum, an oil sheik, is the obvious subject when his regular hand-picked maid Maria Garza's corpse is found skull-smashed, but a hidden video camera helps Nick and Brass to work out what part its ex-con owner Matthew Lapaz, possible cahoot and blackmail as well as covered-up theft played.

The CSI unit investigates when Frank, an apparent murder victim, sits up and needs help. But in fact, he's not just a victim, he's also a double murderer, and he coolly hijacks the Medevac helicopter taking him to a hospital. A paramedic tends to a barely conscious Frank, and helps him aboard the Medevac chopper. But he does too good a job of bringing Frank back to full consciousness, and is taken hostage when Frank steals Morgan's ill-secured weapon. A man who's looking to take a chance to regain control, he's given a shot of morphine at Frank's orders, but still tries to get the gun back, and is shot in the belly by a determined Frank. A cocksure pilot of a medevac chopper, "all aviator sunglasses and ego", he's in charge of the helicopter taking Frank and Morgan to the hospital. Unpleasantly surprised when Frank steals Morgan's gun, hijacks the chopper and shoots the paramedic, he becomes increasingly sour and sardonic towards both Frank and Morgan, suspecting correctly that their actions (and inactions) will contribute to his early death, seconds after the chopper runs out of gas.

An adult female corpse is found covered with many piercing wounds from both surgical needles and a barbecue skewer, as sadistically tortured, yet Lidocaine was administered in advance. The pattern soon leads to captain Steven Watt's freak show 'circus' act Rachel Grier 'Femmistopheles', who is indeed missing. She lost contact even with her sister, a zoo vet, whose tranquilizers were apparently used. Rachel also was part of a complex romantic figure involving the elephant man working as John Merrick and his twin, strong man Seth Helm. Watts is found hanging in his tent, perhaps not the same killer's work.

Three men died in a complex car crash at a fast-food drive-trough. A fourth man's brain lies among the wreckage. The team works out the only link between the men is Bill Pernin's boxing gym. The fourth brain was stolen from Jewish war veteran Seligson's grave, and switched with one already donated to science by screwup Ryan Dempsey; the pathologist linking the corpses is found murdered himself.

Episode 8

Nightclub owner Kevin Fetzer was fatally slashed at his grand birthday party, and the corpse humiliatingly exposed like an eight year-old with his pants down. His worthless father, who rowed with him at the party, has a solid alibi. As a knave, he was the non-prosecuted last suspect in a somewhat similar case. A Latino gang's ex-leader was neck-laced, yet his successor Diego Barra is genuinely surprised. Darlene Crocker killed herself due to an overdose with the same PCP that killed her daughter twenty years ago. the cases aren't linked, except by popular, terminally sick former LVPD detective Stan Richardson and his drinking buddies.

Apparently inconspicuous army veteran Michael 'Mike' Newbury is shot at home with a rare caliber, actually absent from the amazing weapons collection is his secret toy room & lab, yet his corpse is missing. Tracing the bullet, from a novel Belgian gun, alerts the FBI, which sends agent Viggo McQuaid and his trainee-successor Matthew Pratt. The case is largely classified as Newbury discretely traveled the world's war zones for Mark Gabriel's exclusive, Defense-contracted company. The murder weapon was part of 144 stolen in Pakistan. A removed tattoo leads to a suspect, who is actually in acute danger.

While Dr. Al Robbins is on duty, handsome genealogist Dan Traxler's naked corpse is found in his bed. Doc vehemently refuses to consider his wife Judy may have committed adultery, and indeed the evidence proves no sex between them, but with a blood relative. Dan's business partner helps Greg trace his Norwegian roots, all D.B.'s team work out Traxler's bloodline, a matter of dark but relevant family secrets.

The skeletal remains of three people are found in the desert. Initially beetle evidence implies they had been dead at least a week but other factors contradict that. They bodies were identified as a lawyer, that Catherine had a connection with, and his two employees. Catherine had recommended the lawyer to a friend, who was trying to escape her dangerous husband. After analysis the beetles appear to be genetically altered. Catherine fears her friend could be dead until she makes contact with a location.

Agent Matthew Pratt presumes that his partner Snow was murdered by Mark Gabriel's henchmen, like his wife. The CSi assumes they also wounded Katherine, whom D.B. found and helps flee. Nick and his colleagues and Brass's policemen start working that nothing s what it seemed, not even the victims, whose flesh was deliberately devoured by 'super beetles', yet suspiciously off mistakes ware made for pros, which only makes sense if part of a brilliant setup from the start.

In fast succession, facially mutilated female corpses are found without personal connections, but all made up in fashionable, original 1970s clothes. They are part of a large group from whom hair was taken in public places, unnoticed. All of that hair is used in the fetish string which the serial killer leaves in his victims' mouths. So the team races to save the expected next victims, hoping to find a less obvious similarity, but their first guess, a 'model', isn't the key.

Heartless tycoon Jonah Clyborn's adolescent son Wes has a car crash, the knave having been shot with a gun traced to Juan Perez, the ex-con brother of car owner Elena, found shot dead in a large shed. Even Nick, who saved his life being on the crash spot, can't learn much from Wes, who has possibly temporary amnesia. D.B. enlists the help of his friend the 'blood whisperer' to analyze the mixed blood all over the crime scenes. The team finds out Clyborn as well as Perez family secrets.

A storm-caused power cut complicates work for CSI, especially elevator-trapped Henry and Hodges. Nick follows blood drops to the nanny's corpse. Widower T.C. was suspected of murdering his first wife Natalie, whom he 'contacted' with mother-in-law Patricia Lydecker trough medium Karen Chevera. Harper's bloodline is crucially questioned. Time presses even more when a jewelry ransom is demanded by a ruthless, unpredictable team.

A middle-aged man is shot in a casino by a younger man wearing orange shirt. The LVPD and the security guards immediately lock down the casino and follow the criminal using the security cameras, but he dodges the officers and guards and flees. The victim is identified as Dr. Dennis Kiel from Los Angeles and his money and credit cards have been stolen by the killer. Soon Nick and Morgan locate the room where the man spent the night with a woman. Then they locate him, Jordan Brentson, in another room hidden by a friend, but he denies the crime. Soon they find an identical twin called Xavier Marx, but he is not the man that killed the doctor. They say that they have received free-tickets to Las Vegas and when Morgan investigates the information, she learns that there is a triplet called Kevin Chance that is also hosted in the hotel. Further. Dr. Kiel was a pediatrician, but he had internship in an in-vitro fertilization clinic.

Episode 20

The CSI Nick is informed by the District Attorney that the murderer Carl Bowden is saying that the corrupt Detective Sam Vega got his confession after beaten him seven years ago. Now the court intends to release Bowden, who was the killer and showed where the body of his victim was. If this happens, the door in the justice will be opened for other criminals arrested by Det. Vega to claim the same. Now, the CSI team has a very short period to check the old evidence and obtain new evidence to keep Bowden in prison.

Episode 21

When a car is burned in an off-road race through the Mojave Desert, the CSI is summoned since the driver is completely burned and the co-driver is missing. They investigate the area but do not find anyone, but the helmet of the co-driver. Nick and Russell meet Kathy Veck, the CEO of Veck Oil, who was in the first position. When Greg analyzes the debris of the car, he concludes that the explosion was not accidental, and he heads with Morgan to the desert using a metal detector and they find the detonator. Now they change the investigation to find who exploded the race car and why.

Episode 22

During the campaign for the reelection of Sheriff Sherry Liston, the famous Jack Gilmore is the host. While Sheriff Liston is speaking, a bodyguard, a man and a woman are killed in a motel. Ecklie is informed and goes with Russel investigate the crime scene that is close to the event where they are. They identify the victims as the drug dealer Donny Price, his bodyguard and his lover and Jack Gilmore's wife Veronica Gilmore. Jack becomes Finn's prime suspect but for political reasons, she cannot process him. All the evidence points to jack Gilmore, but Finn concludes that Jack has not killed his wife. Lt. Paul Kimball is called to assist the investigation, since he is the leader of an undercover operation to catch Donny Price. When the CSI finds that Kimball lured Jack Gilmore and the weapon used in the murders belonged to the former Undersheriff Jeffrey McKeen, they bring him from the prison to be interrogated.
