Episode 1

The CSI team, composed by the cop Chief Jim Brass, and the scientists Dr. Gil Grisson, Catherine Willows, Warrick Brown and Nick Stolkes, is short staffed and plenty of cases to be simultaneously resolved. There is an apparently suicide; a murder case of a trespasser; and a man lured and drugged by a young woman. When the rookie Holly Gribbs is assigned to work in the CSI team, Jim does not like and asks Grisson to stay with her in an autopsy. Holly intends to give up working in the CSI, but Catherine convinces her to stay a little longer and have the final decision later. The gambler Warrick is assigned to go with her to a crime scene, but he leaves Holly doing the forensic work while he bets in a horse for the corrupt Judge Cohen and himself. Meanwhile something happens to Holly Gribbs that will affect the whole team.

Jim Brass is transferred to the police department and Grisson is appointed as the new chief of the CSI team. Holly Gribbs dies in the hospital, and Sara Sidle is assigned to work in an internal investigation. The whole team is feeling bad, but Warwick is worse since he had been assigned to supervise the rookie member. When a jackpot winner in a casino falls off the balcony of a hotel, Grisson and his team investigate the case.

When a girl is murdered in a hit and run, Catherine and Warrick investigate the case. They find the car with the wrecked front in the garage of the old Charles Moore and he immediate assumes the accident. But they suspect that he is protecting someone. Meanwhile, the wife of a wealthy man is abducted and Grisson and Sara assume the case. Grisson listens carefully to the tape the abductor has sent and locates the victim buried in a box in the desert. Now they look for the criminals that requested ransom.

When two men that are fishing in a boat in a lake find a severed leg, the police and Grisson and Catherine investigate the case. Soon the coroner puts together the leg with the body of the victim in the morgue. They learn that she was Wendy Barger and although she was married, her husband had not had intercourse with her for months since their marriage had practically ended. Soon they learn that she had a lover that lives nearby the lake and they had just had dinner and sex before her death. Further, she died before falling off the boat in the water. Meanwhile Sara and Nick go to a fraternity house to investigate the apparent suicide of James, a teenager that was pledging to join the fraternity. The leaders Matt and Kyle tells a story about the request of James, but Sara and Nick do not buy the story. Warrick is helped by Grisson to catch the corrupt Judge Cohen.

The CSI team has three cases to investigate. Grissom and Warrick need to investigate a dead teenager that was found naked in the desert. Sara is assigned to investigate the body of a woman found in a dumpster. Catherine and Nick are assigned to investigate the murder of the dean of a school. Grissom and Warrick find the murderer the teenager. Sara finds that the dead woman had been buried some days ago and investigates her funeral. Catherine and Nick discover that the murder of the dean was a crime of passion and it's not difficult to find the motive and the killers.

When the bones of a hand are found in the concrete below a house, Grisson and Nick investigate the case. They succeed to find the identity of the victim and now they seek out the killer. Grisson assigns Warrick and Sara to check the case of a violent police officer that chased a suspect in a Jeep and claims that the guy committed suicide in a parking area. One third case involves Catherine's ex-husband Eddie Willows that is accused by a dancer of raping her. Grisson warns her to step back of the case, but the stubborn Catherine proceeds the investigation.

Episode 7

A teenage girl runs out of her house in the middle of the night screaming for help. The crime scene inside is a mess with four dead bodies, her father, mother and two brothers, lying in pools of blood. The only survivors are the oldest daughter,Tina, and Brenda, the youngest member of the family. Grissom assembles his team together and announces that this will be the only crime scene for his shift. Meanwhile, he assigns Sara to take care of Brenda, much to her dismay as she is not good with children. Nonetheless, during the course of the investigation, Sara discovers a maternal side in her.

When a man is found dead in his bathtub with a tape recorder telling that he has committed suicide, the CSI team recalls the case of Royce Harmon that was not well resolved. Grisson, Catherine and Sara investigate the case that becomes more complicated when Grisson's fingerprint is found in the scene crime. Meanwhile, Warrick and Nick investigate the case of a man that was found buckled in the back seat of his car in a dam in coma and they bet whether it was a robbery or there was a phantom driver that stole the victim.

Episode 9

The CSI team is summoned to investigate the death of the first-class passenger Tony Candlewell in twelve hours because of a jurisdiction problem. Candlewell has contradictory evidences of aggression and defense, and the first class passengers are secluded in the airport and interviewed. But Catherine and Brass note that they are hiding information. Meanwhile, in the autopsy, the coroner learns that Candlewell had undiagnosed encephalitis, the reason of his berserk behavior. When they find shoe prints on the back of his jacket, the passengers Lou Everitt, Max Valdez, and Dr. Kiera Behrle .are considered prime suspects. The team interviews the blind Mr. Cash that was near the incident and using dummies later, they represent the statements and come to a conclusion of the case.

Episode 10

Sara and Grissom investigate the death of a woman, Kaye Shelton, found wrapped in a blanket in the mountains. With no way to confirm the time of death, Grissom relies on the insects found on her body to establish a timeline. Catherine and Warrick work on a case of a stolen painting. Nick works solo on a case of a missing wife.

While investigating the disappearance of Margaret Shorey at a supermarket, Grissom and Catherine stumble upon a serial killer who claims to have killed five women in supermarkets located along the I-15. Sara and Warrick are given the case of the death of a man who, his brother claims, was killed by a burglar. Sara soon suspects that the brother is not telling the truth. Nick is specially requested to solve a case of harassment.

Grissom receives a video tape from an inmate called Frank Damon who is on trial for the arson which resulted in his wife and son's death. On the tape, Damon claims that he is innocent and asks Grissom to help him. Grissom agrees to re-examine the evidence, despite knowing that this will anger Ecklie who originally worked on the case. Nick and Catherine, meanwhile, work on the case of a young man found shot in the head inside his car.

A bomb in a brief case goes off in the lobby of an office building. The team must piece together all the parts of this bomb to look for the maker's signature. Nick becomes involved in a crime after spending a night with a woman who ends up dead the next day.

A human bone is found in the desert accidentally by a dog playing fetch with a man and his son. Grissom and Catherine assemble a team to comb the area for more bones. Back at the lab, they piece together the skeleton and determine that body was cut to pieces. From his teeth, the deceased is identified as a 70-year-old Mel Bennett. Catherine and Grissom pay a visit to his wife, who claims that her husband is at a nearby store. Sara and Warrick are called to a motel where a male stripper is found dead on the bed. The room is registered to a woman who recently threw a bachelorette party for her friend.

Episode 15

The team arrives at a charity fund-raiser being held at the house of Portia Richmond, an ex-show girl who became very successful, where a body is found floating in the swimming pool. Portia herself is absent from the scene. The two hosts, Patrick and Amanda Haynes, claim that she is on vacation in Europe. Warrick works on a case of a mob shooting. The deceased is found in a glass elevator with a quarter stuck in the bullet wound on his forehead.

Episode 16

A Jane Doe is brutally attacked and raped before being left to die on the side of the road. With two bullets lodged in her brain, she is in a deep coma. Catherine and Warrick work on an open case of a man killed by his neighbor. The statements from the accused and the deceased's wife contradict each other.

A thief is found dead from blunt force trauma to his head in a pottery store where he was evidently trying to crack a safe. The team dusts the store and finds the fingerprint of a girl who has been missing for the last 20 years. Sara and Warrick find what's left of an old woman in her rocking chair. The two believe that they are witnessing a case of spontaneous human combustion. To prove it, Sara decides to conduct an experiment by herself.

A couple walks out of a fancy restaurant to their car. They are attacked and killed. When the team arrives on the scene, the only eye-witness is a young man who stayed behind to give his statements. Catherine investigates the collapse of an apartment building which resulted in the death of three elderly people.

Episode 19

A kidnapping case becomes unusually personal to the usually detached Grissom. The 4-month old baby, Zach Anderson, was allegedly kidnapped from his home. A ransom note, found by his mother, is left in his crib. Many things seem strange about this case as more evidence are analyzed. When Zach's body is found on a nearby golf course, the team is sure that his death is no mere accident.

Episode 20

When two young women call the police to tell that they hit a man on the dark street, Grissom concludes that the man was dead when they run over him. Meanwhile, Catherine informs Grissom that she will go with Nick to investigate a mass murder of five people in a cafeteria, where a notorious mobster was killed. Grissom, Sara and Warrick learn that the victim was deaf but was assaulted before the hit. Meanwhile, Catherine and Warrick find that one of the attendants was pregnant, and discover who the target was and who the side effect of the crime spree was.

When a runner is found dead on a trail, Grissom, Warrick and Nick suspect that he was attacked by a cougar. But they find that organs have been stolen and they suspect that a doctor would be responsible since he or she knows how to use a scalpel. Meanwhile Catherine and Sara investigate the death of a six-year old drowned in a tunnel of love at a carnival. The prime suspect is the owner of the carnival that has a record as a sex offender, and Catherine is deeply affected by the case.

It is the team's evaluation day. Catherine and Grissom find a head in the trunk of a car which was stolen by two teenagers. Sara and Nick work together on a case of a headless body found in the desert. Warrick investigates a murder in a juvenile detention center.

Episode 23

There's a serial killer on the loose in Las Vegas. Since this is a very high-profile case, the sheriff brings in the FBI to help. This annoys Grissom very much as the FBIs like to assume many things while he prefers to let the evidence speak for itself. Due to his refusal to cooperate, he is taken off the case. Grissom's team, however, knows better and keeps their boss informed on the details.
