Mae Barber struggles to cope with husband Sam's sudden death, hostile when questioned about Joe by CIA-boss Reuel Abbott, who assures Bob Partridge replacing him by Marty Frost was 'just protocol' given the obvious personal interest, ignoring their hostile break-up. Nathan Fowler spends the day reassuring his daughter, who ignore he's behind the pest plot. Frozen out of the investigation, Bob has Sarah Tan's girlfriend, FBI agent Sharla Shepard assigned to the task force, asking her to feed him information. At Hale's house, Joe uses her computer to investigate his situation. Joubert pays a hacker to track Turner, and kills him when he's outsmarted. Shepard finds Hale's messages on the Tinder app on Turner's phone, and heads to her house with the task force. As Partridge warns them of the raid lead by Boyd Ferris, Hale pepper-sprays Joe trying to escape, but is knocked unconscious and he hid at the absent neighbor whose cat she asked him to feed. The task force finds only Joubert at Kate's place. Fowler's killer Mailer has flashbacks to his torture under a Saudi whip, still scarring his backside, being sent to Riyadh to carry out an operation there.

Trapped in History

Biting the mace, Joe carries knocked-out Hale to the house of the neighbor whose cat she was feeding, as the task force arrives to raid her house, then binds and gags her. Suspecting Joe was been tipped off from within the team, Frost and Abbott order searching everyone on the task force, but Shepard manages to hide the phone from Partridge. Turner unties Hale from the restraints, apologizes and tells her of how when he studied at MIT, he and his girlfriend Janice visited his uncle Bob Partridge for Thanksgiving dinner. Returning home, they were arrested with their roommate Caleb Wolfe, who has hacked into the MIT server. Partridge arranged for Joe's release and recruited him into the CIA, for the cover analysis firm. Watching TV, Hale sees Wolfe, now an information activist and hacker, on the news, claiming IEP was a CIA front which developed the algorithm that identified Ammar Nazari.

A Diamond with a Flaw

Using her legal contacts, Kathy Hale gets a phone for Joe to call his lawyer ex-girlfriend Janice, to ask her arrange a meeting with her wanted ex Caleb Wolfe. Janice reluctantly gives him an encoded address. Joubert and Partridge shadow Janice, hoping she will lead them to Joe, but she spots that. Hitman Deacon Mailer checks into a hotel in Riyadh, where he bugs the hall and another room, in which he infects the sleeping occupant with the plague bacteria, as filmed by Nathan Fowler and his handler by microphone for Deacon. After an AA meeting, Shepard breaks her two-year stretch of sobriety, picks up a man in a bar but changes her mind, beating him when he doesn't stop touching her. At the address Janice gave Joe, a henchman arrives to strip-search him, then tells him to take pills to knock him out while he takes him to Wolfe. Turner refuses, but the man forces him to swallow the pills, and he wakes up two hours later in a locked cell.
Episode 6
No Such Thing

Strip-searched, abused, blindfolded and caged Guantanamo-style, Joe aborts is escape attempt as he gets to meets fellow-wanted former MIT buddy Caleb Wolfe at what turns out his safe-house, and they reestablish enough trust to trade information about the IEP killings. Neither realizes Wolfe's source for his info on IEP was Sam Barber's CIA boss, Elden Loramer. Third MIT buddy Janice remains openly mistrusting and rather uncooperative towards Joe, just supplies a getaway car. Struggling to cope with Sam's death, his widow Mae has flashbacks to bonding with other "agency wives" at social events and witnessing secret meetings which now seem more suspicious. Fowler keeps monitoring how the pest is spread in Saudi Arabia during the haj pilgrimage. Task force agent Boyd Ferris follows Joubert to Kathy Hale's home, where the pair find her hiding in the closet and hold her in the house, hoping for Joe to return, until Hale raises Ferris's suspicions about why Joubert won't call it in till the agents draw their guns- Joubert shoots Ferris. Hale manages to escape and flee with by car, but Joubert fatally shoots Kathy, to Joe's tearful horror.
Episode 7
Within a Dark Wood

SPOILER: Joe leaves Kathy's body In a remote wooded area. Agent Boyd and Kathy's bodies are both discovered. Sharla reports to Bob, is angry and distrustful but he seems to know more than she so keeps cooperating. Jude spots Joe in the backyard but Mae dismisses her child. When Mae drops her kids at Uncle Alan's, Joe breaks in to collect cell phone parts but he is almost discovered by two agents entering to install surveillance cameras at Mae's home. Joe evades them to hide in the backyard. A wake is then held at Mae's while surveillance continues on her. Iris comes to the wake, says she has "proof" and wants to use her boat as a location to talk with Mae later. Jude wanders over to the play area where Joe is hiding. As Joe tries to speak to him, the child screams and Joe has to flee on foot, pursued closely by Gabrielle and Sharla. Sharla intercepts him but decides to join forces against Gabrielle. In Saudi Arabia in a religious pilgrimage, the Muslim operative is seen amidst a large crowd of worshipers.

A Question of Compromise

Shepard handcuffs Joe to her radiator, giving her a head start as she goes after Joubert. Called by Joe, trusted uncle Bob Partridge follows the trail of the conspiracy, locating a video of Ammar Nazari speaking with infamous chemical weapons expert Abu-Saeed, but Bob suggests this was a chance meeting and Nazari was framed for the stadium attack. Mae's friend Iris is tortured and killed by Joubert for the video of Fowler and Sam Barber ordering her husband's death. A CIA team captures Abu-Saeed, who tells Partridge he is dying from the plague himself. Fowler confronts Gareth Lloyd for putting the operation in jeopardy. When Lloyd goads Nathan Fowler, he kills Lloyd's girlfriend, then Lloyd and finally himself..

Death is the Harvest

Mailer installs a device to release the plague during the Hajj, and has flashbacks to his torture at the hands of Ibrahim Salah's Iraqi ISIS torture team, recognizing Ibrahim there, who remembers in a nightmare. Mae finds bath-drowned Iris and Reuel Abbott threatens her family to make her surrender the memory card with Iris's evidence. Joe Turner goes to see Janice, whose marriage is shaking, and with her and husband Paul heads back to Wolfe's safe-house, convincing him to go public on live TV. Shepard follows Joubert to her home to kill her, but is stopped by Frost. Bob Partridge breaks into Abbott's home ready to kill him, but is convinced there is no way to stop the plot, just one way to save Joe. Joubert enters Wolfe's safe-house, killing everyone except Turner. Driving away, she tells Turner the contract on his life was canceled, and he drives the car off the embankment, laving her unconscious and runs with hr revolver, leaving her machine-gun.

Mistrust Blossoms

Having followed Joubert to the safe-house, Marty Frost shoots Sharla Shepard, who still manages to return fire. Joe Turner leaves the unconscious Joubert in the crashed car and contacts widow Mae through her eldest son, Sam Junior, who faints a bike fall. Mae abducts wounded Frost from the hospital and Joe takes her to Bob Partridge's desolate wood cabin, finally prepared to torture if needed, till she outlines having blackmailed Loramer and the conspirators, with an "insurance policy" to release the details of the plot to the press if she is killed. Joe reluctantly kills her to trigger the release, hoping to prevent the (un)holy war. Joe and Bob go over Abbott's head to the CIA director, who agrees to pay Joubert to eliminate Mailer in Saudi Arabia, which she manages just in time to save millions of hajjis and prevent ensuing warfare. A year later, Turner is living in Florence with a new, Italian girlfriend Mariana. Joubert suddenly comes tell Joe he is "the one that got away". Turner hacks Abbott's laptop and is planning to enact revenge against him.
