8 Episodes 2017 - 2017
Episode 1
Off the east coast of Newfoundland, the crew of the Atlantic Bandit heads into the world's deadliest ocean. Following his intuition, Captain Paul Tiller takes his crew to a new fishing spot that is further out to sea than they have ever ventured. In this particular area, the weather is rougher and the ocean is treacherous. But with crab going for record prices, Tiller thinks it's a risk worth taking. Southwest in Cox's Cove, the Crane's Legacy is running two days behind the rest of the crab fishing fleet. Over the summer, Skipper Rick Crane suddenly lost his father to cancer and is still reeling from the shock. Back on the east coast, Morris Anstey is steaming the Sebastian Sails straight into Iceberg Alley. Anstey has fished crab in this area before, but never this early in the season, and never facing such icy conditions.
Episode 2
Morris Anstey gambles to change his crab-fishing luck, but could leave the Sebastian Sails worse off.
Episode 3
Just a few miles off the coast of Newfoundland, Paul Tiller and the crew of the Atlantic Bandit are fighting it out for capelin. This is only their second year of seining and the competition in Trinity Bay is fierce and aplenty. With only a short window of time to make their quota, even the smallest mistake could cost them their season. In Placentia Bay, there's a new boat in the harbor, the Crewshell Chill. The boat's owner is life-long skipper, Calvin Kerrivan, and First Mate and son, Kurtis. They are on the hunt for whelk, a lucrative sea snail that could yield them tens of thousands of dollars - if they can only find them. In Conception Bay, Morris Anstey has been chasing schools of capelin with no success. But finding fish isn't his only problem. His son, Kyle, is being uncooperative and insubordinate. Tensions run high as father and son face off in a battle of wills that could grind their capelin season to a halt and leave their relationship in pieces.
Episode 4
Skipper Morris Anstey is breaking into a new fishery - turbot. It's a tough fish to catch, however the profits can be huge. But at least he won't be out there on his own. Captain Paul Tiller and the Atlantic Bandit are close by to lend some help to the rookie turbot fishermen. Still, Paul's advice may not be enough, leaving Morris to discover that he's in over his head in more ways than one. On the other side of the island, this is no ordinary lobster season for Rick Crane. He's been saving for months to buy an engagement ring for his girlfriend, Jennifer. But when his lobster season ends in a flop, he must come up with a new, more risky plan. How far will Rick go to buy "the perfect ring for the perfect girl?"
Episode 5
It's an epic turbot showdown between Paul Tiller and Morris Anstey. The gloves are off as the skippers go head to head to see who can come home with the most fish. But it isn't smooth sailing for either boat. Tiller struggles with a massive mechanical failure while Morris deals with a belligerent crew member who could potentially start a mutiny. It's anyone's guess who will come out on top. Meanwhile, the men of the Crewshell Chill are getting in on the ground floor of a brand new fishery - sea cucumbers. But getting into the game wasn't cheap. Skipper Calvin Kerrivan invested almost $200K for the license and equipment. Failure is not an option.
Episode 6
It's a day that Paul Tiller and the Atlantic Bandit thought they'd never see again. After 25 years, cod is finally back. The moratorium of 1992 shut down the cod fishery and put nearly 30,000 Newfoundlanders out of work. The closure struck at the heart and soul of the Newfoundland fishery. Tiller hasn't fished cod in decades; does he still have what it takes? Meanwhile, off the coast of Prince Edward Island, Rick Crane has stepped out of the captain's chair to take a job as a deckhand on a tuna boat. He's never fished tuna before and this fishery has a steep learning curve. Rick struggles to keep up. Skipper Morris Anstey is almost at the end of his shrimp season when disaster hits the Sebastian Sails and threatens the lives of everyone on board. Will they be able to recover from this blow and finish their season or is it all over for the Sebastian Sails?
Episode 7
Skipper Lee Pond and his crew of the Jacob Louisa are on the hunt for herring and the pressure is on. Lee needs a successful season to maintain his steep boat payments. But it isn't going to be easy.
Episode 8
In the closing days of the herring season, Skipper Lee Pond and the crew of the Jacob Louisa are on the hunt for a final boatload of fish before the long winter. But success eludes them. To make matters worse, the forces of nature stand in the crew's way, as they struggle against humpbacks and a super moon. Will the Jacob Louisa overcome the odds and get that last load of herring that they need? It's been a brutally hard year and Captain Morris Anstey wants to give his crew a little bonus for the holidays- a reward for their loyalty. But to do that, this herring fishery has to go well. The crew is plagued by catastrophic equipment failures and a complete sonar blackout. That means time lost, no fish and huge repair bills. At this rate, it's going to be a long, cold, dark winter - unless Anstey can pull a rabbit out his hat- and quick.
