Astronaut John Blackstar's shuttle passes through a black hole and crashes on the planet Sagar. He is rescued by the gentle Trobbits, who live under the tyranny of the Overlord, possessor of one half of an all-powerful sword. Armed with the other half, Blackstar aids the resistance with his dragon Warlock; the shapeshifter Klone; and the sorceress Mara.

Marshall Bravestarr is the lawman of the wild-west planet "New Texas" with help from Thirty-Thirty, his cybernetic talking horse and Deputy Fuzz, his sidekick and Shaman, his mentor. Bravestarr with his special powers fights the outlaw Tex-Hex, the leader of the Carrion Bunch, who are after the mineral Kerium, Bravestarr sets out to set things right and enforce peace and justice on "New Texas".

Five legendary heroes band together to defeat evil forces in many guises.

The series depicts a high school for young superheroes. The students are taught how to properly use their powers to fight crime, though they do not always get along with each other. The super-powered surfer Captain California has an ongoing rivalry with the trickster Rex Ruthless. The telepathic Glorious Gal has an ongoing rivalry with the trickster Dirty Trixie.

When Ming the Merciless returns to wreak havoc, he immediately hunts down the man who caused him to lose his throne in the first place, Flash Gordon. In the process, Ming captures and kills Dale Arden Gordon, but not before she transfers her essence into a special crystal. Flash then gathers together a force made up of The Phantom, Mandrake the Magician and his assistant Lothar. Also joining the heroes are Flash's son Rick, The Phantom's daughter Jedda, Lothar's son L.J. and Madrake's adopted son Kshin. Rick then invents a super computer using the crystal with his mother's essence. Joining Ming is his son Kro-Tan.

Miss Tickle is a high school teacher who has some magical powers, augmented by accessories in her bag. She supervises the Adventurers Club after school hours. Most episodes start with interaction between the club members that defines the theme for the episode. After this theme definition, Rick Springfield (he plays himself) calls on a magic gramophone to ask the Adventurers Club for help with a problem in one of the magical worlds beyond the blackboard. Miss Tickle transforms a statue of a cat into a real one. The cat, Tut-Tut, is the key that allows her to draw a door on the blackboard that opens and allows the club to travel to the magical worlds. The club members, Tut-Tut, and Miss Tickle travel to the world where Rick and his owl Ptolemy are waiting for assistance. At some point during the episode, Rick will sing a song that is relevant to the episode theme in some way, either in subject or word choice. Miss Tickle, the club, the animals, and Rick resolve the problem of the episode and then Miss Tickle, Tut-Tut and the club members return to the real world. Rick and Ptolemy usually remain in the magical worlds. At the end of the episode the theme is re-emphasized for the club member who raised or was the subject of the initial theme definition. The themes of stories tend to be on subjects such as appreciating what you have, honesty, integrity, proper behavior, and such.
