Episode 1
DI Baynham investigates the body a woman pulled from the canal. PC Sydenham is trapped in a burning house when Alex Moore sets light to petrol to avenge his wife. Kevin Hadley takes extreme measures to get help for his dying grandfather.
Episode 2
DS McCormack re-interviews Laura Mason and learns Hayley Morris met up with her estranged father on the day of her murder. Barnard pulls DI Baynham off the case to investigate a break in. DS Pickering investigates a post office robbery.
Episode 3
Geoff Morrison's bedsit hideout is found with blood stains matching his daughter Hayley. Tony Baynham attempts to end his relationship with Barnard's teenage daughter Lucy. PC Redfern tracks down builders who cheated £800 from a pensioner.
Episode 4
Geoff Morrison gives himself up but eliminated from his daughter's murder. A gang attempt an armed robbery on a Bryson's van. Sue Chappell escapes with her life when a gun goes off. Terry requests a search on his mother's new boyfriend.
Episode 5
Hayley Morrison murder appears to be solved when student Sam Reeves confesses. Jane McCormack is the only doubting voice because Reeves has no memory of the murder. Sgt. Mackay faces a complaint when "Barmy Brian" headbutts the cell wall.
Episode 6
Sgt. Mackey offers a friendly ear to troubled teen Nikki Reed. Hours later she is found murdered and dumped on the road. Lucy is looking for revenge so smashes into Barnham's car. Jane questions unknown DNA left on Hayley Morrison's body.
Episode 7
Sgt. Mackey blames herself for releasing Nikki Reed on the night of her murder. DNA comes back from her body linking it to the murder of Hayley Morrison. Colin gets beat up, by a gang of ram raiders, when Steve goes to the wrong address.
Episode 8
Baynham goes on a bender leaving Pickering and McCormack to fend for themselves on the double murder. A waitress remembers the man with Nikki Reed had a student card. Mary is called to an eviction unaware that woman has cut her wrists.
Episode 9
Steve is stabbed and thrown in the canal after the rapist he was chasing was a ruse by gang members who wanted a his radio. Terry is suspended after breaking the nose of his mother's boyfriend Barry Wilson who he learns had hit her first.
Episode 10
The Welsh Rugby shirt, linked to the double murder, is discovered in the dorm room of Michael Millington. He vanishes but a bank withdrawal sends police rushing to the train station. Pete uses an unorthodox method to save Terry's career.
