An American documentary miniseries which primarily focuses on Christian legends and folklore concerning specific Cathedrals and churches in various countries. Also depicted are a number of legends concerning religious buildings from other religious traditions. Among the various buildings and tales depicted: the First Church in Salem in Salem, Massachusetts and its association with the Salem Witch Trials, the use of the Grand Mosque of Paris as a hiding place for Jews during the Holocaust, the use of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Cumberland, Maryland as a local stop for the Underground Railroad, the creation of The Angelus Temple in Los Angeles by the controversial faith healer Aimee Semple McPherson, ghost stories revolving around Edgar Allan Poe's tomb at the Westminster Hall of Baltimore, protests about the religious murals in the synagogue of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple and their supposed influence from Christian art, and suspicions that the tomb of Napoleon in the Cathedral of Saint-Louis-des-Invalides actually contains the body of an impostor.
