While Burgess and Tay are on patrol, they come across some people breaking into a car. They chase them but they get away. Halstead and Atwater show up and they learn the car belongs to a woman and her address is not this neighborhood. Thye later find a man beaten and he lives at the same address as the woman. They bring him to the hospital and later the woman's parents show up and say the guy is her fiancee. They ask where her daughter is. And they don't know. So Voight starts looking for her problem is that she's white and the neighborhood her car was found is predominantly black. So they wonder why were they there. And they learn that they went there to get something. Platt is confronted by the Commander who assigned Tay to a crappy assignment as punishment for rebuffing his advances and tells Platt to send her back or else.

There is conflict within the case as Intelligence learns that Olinsky and McCoy are friends, and McCoy admits that he was helping Maya and other girls try to escape the sex trade. Meanwhile, Burgess and Sorensen track down a thief who turns out to be a cop with a rocky past, and Lindsay gets a mysterious flower delivery that may be tied to her past.

While he didn't do it personally, he has enough money to pay someone to do it. They first think it's a friend of the witness who's a druggie but he says he didn't do it but someone used him to get to his friend. They later learn that they hired a private investigator who's a cop who was dismissed for excessive force. He says the family hired him to find out who the witness is but he says he turned them down. They later think one of defendant's siblings might be the one who handled it. Stone offers Antonio a job at the S.A.'s office which he considers taking.

It's Antonio's last day with Intelligence before he goes to join the S.A.'s office as an investigator. But before he could tell them, a cop was shot by a sniper. When they arrive, the cop's partner maintains he didn't hear a shot. Back at the precinct, everyone heard about Antonio's departure and asks him about it. They get a lead on the sniper and check it out but it turns out to be a trap and another cop is shot. They are determined to find the shooter and they begin with a guy who has issues with the police but they think he's not smart enough to pull it off. They then focus on a trained sniper who also has issues with the police but he turns out to be not the one too. They then find a new suspect who has ties to the department.

As the investigation gets underway, the team works to uncover a group of car-jackers who may be the key to Severide's innocence. They first go over everything, while Voight tries to talk to the priest to let him talk to the boys. The priest lets Voight talk to them and Voight doesn't think they did it. When someone throws a Molotov cocktail into the church, Voight takes the boys out and brings them to the station and holds them. They check the woman out and learn she has a boyfriend who has a temper. He was also the one who burned the church, They don't think it was him. They learn that someone was following her on the day she was killed. So they try to find him.

A guy tells Lindsay that he's been asked to find a hit-man. So they send Alvin to make contact. The man says he wants him to get the one who killed his daughter and got off. They first look into the girl's murder and the guy was a person of interest but they didn't have any evidence, so they let him go. They talk to the suspect who maintains he was there but he didn't kill the girl. He saw someone run away at the time. They find the weapon that was used. They connect it to a batch of guns that a known gun dealer got. They find the guy and arrest him. They later learn the dealer is an undercover Fed. Selling the gun was part of a operation. They learn who had the gun and try to find out if he's the killer or did he pass it to someone else. The S.A. wants them to arrest the father, but Alvin thinks he can talk the man out of going through with it because he empathizes with him. But the S.A. and Voight tell him to make him think he did it so he will pay Alvin. And Ruzek returns but Voight tells him there's no room for him in the unit.

Knowing that the fire at a rave that killed or injured several kids including Alvin's daughter, was deliberately set, Intelligence is tasked with finding the one responsible. They start with a known arsonist but it's not him. Later they learn that the owner had a heated conversation with a guy and bring him in. He denies doing it. But then one of the victims says she knows who set the fire and tells them what she knows. They find the man and bring him in. Alvin joins them because his daughter died.
