These are not very good times for Gareth Blackstock. Financial trouble forced him to sell Le Chateau to business man Cyril Bryson. Gareth doesn't like his proposed improvements for the restaurant at all. On top of that Janice suddenly decides to leave him. She is fed up with putting her life on hold for Gareth and getting nothing back. She takes a taxi and leaves. Gareth tries to better his life and resigns to get her back. But can he really say good bye to the restaurant life? Meanwhile in the kitchen Savanna from the USA has joined the kitchen staff. She and Gustav don't get along very well.

Gareth still isn't over his split with Janice and gets agitated very quickly. After Everton sees him molest a coin with a meat tenderizer when the thing won't be accepted by a payphone, he gets very worried. Understandably Gareth is not amused when Cyril announces that he want his daughter Renée on the staff. She already failed as a model, graphic designer, fortune teller and shepherd, so Gareth adamantly refuses. But he has no choice. When she arrives in the Kitchen, Gareth finds out she is even more inept than he expected. Luckily she gets help from Everton. That means another problem though. Everton is so in love with her, he has a very hard time concentrating on his work.

Gareth Blackstock's life isn't getting easier. Savanna is still making advances and Cyril makes another impossible request. He went to a fancy packed restaurant where the chef mingles with the customers. He wants Gareth to do the same. It might even solve his inability to make small talk, thinks Cyril. Gareth refuses, claiming his family has a long history of non-mingling, but Cyril immediately knows the real reason. The great chef is scared to death, starts hyperventilating, needs lots of encouragement and then even fails in starting a conversation. Back at home a surprise waits him. Janice let herself in, but she doesn't bring a nice message. She wants to continue with the divorce. She blames him for not making small talk.

Renee is in seventh heaven because of her new boyfriend. This hurts Everton because he still has feelings for her, while Cyril hopes Renee's boyfriend is not the kind of bum she usually falls in love with. After a tip of Renee, Savanna makes up a boyfriend and sends herself flowers, hoping this will get Gareth interested in her. Gareth however has bigger fish to fry when he hears his father will be visiting. Already he can hear his father's laughter when he tells him Janice has left him.

Gareth is very angry when he sees Janice kiss another man on the street, so he isn't too happy when Everton asks if he can borrow the restaurant. Everton's cousin Chantel, the daughter of Auntie Clarice, is getting married and they still haven't found a venue. Gareth only agrees after he realizes he could tease Cyril with it. Cyril's mind however is somewhere else. He suddenly has the hots for Savanna and asks Gareth advice. Gareth love life takes also a dramatic turn when Auntie Clarice and Chantel arrive to take a look. The maid of honor is Rochelle and she and Gareth know each other from their youth. They even dated together.

It's Gareth birthday, but it's the last thing he is thinking about. He has a hard time choosing between the pregnant Janice and Rochelle. Even a confession at a priest won't clear his mind. He asks Everton for advise, will he be of any help? Then Rochelle invites him on a business trip to Paris. At nights she will have time for him. Gareth makes the decision to choose for Rochelle, especially since she doesn't seem to mind the baby. But he hasn't counted on Janice. She is packing to move to Jamaica. She's got a job there, for 18 months. If Gareth wants to see the baby, he'll just has to "pop round". Meanwhile Savanna has given in her notice, much to Gustav's delight. She expected more responsibility.
