Episode 1
Former civil rights activist Aaron Rubin is subpoenaed to testify on the decades old killing of a student during the Freedom Summer of 1964. He recalls the events leading up to that fateful summer and the arrival of Christian Collins, a young innocent volunteer who came to help African Americans register to vote in the highly segregated state.
Episode 2
Spurred by Aaron's passionate discourse on people's rights, Christian is determined to get the local black communities to register. In the process, he learns about their struggles, the racist history of the state and begins to experience first-hand the hate and oppression they live with. Fellow student Jessica wants more than friendship.
Episode 3
Freed from a night of beatings in jail, an angry and vengeful Christian begins to discover himself and his roots and is tortured by his feelings and the experiences taking place. Accused by the mission leaders of blatant self-promotion, Aaron only adds fuel to Christian's emotional fire.
