The Besieged

While riding on a trail, gunfire startles Bronco who quickly dismounts. He finds three gunmen attacking what appears to be a small family clan trapped in the rocks. He fires back at the men wounding the younger one severely while working his way to the family which is not firing back. He assumes they have run out of ammo but in fact they are Quakers who do not believe in fighting. Bronco is recognized by one of the gunmen. The family is headed to California to join others and the gunmen want their homestead which they believe has gold on it. One of the daughters Hope Cabot realizes Bronco is trying to help but is conflicted. When the young boy David throws away Bronco's pistol and rifle while he sleeps, Bronco must become creative to try to save the group and himself with a little help from the Quakers' beliefs.

Quest of the Thirty Dead

Bronco is with his friend Jim Brandt on a train headed to Jim's wedding. A train accident is created when the train is rerouted on the wrong track and hits another train. Jim is killed and Bronco is severely injured. After a couple of months to recover, Bronco is contacted in El Paso by Jim's fiancé Irene Lang with a warning not to investigate the crash. She says the warning the came from Bronco's Civil War commander Colonel Bill Magrider. Bronco tries to assist the railroad but their security man P.J. Mohler refuses Bronco's help saying they already have a plan to catch Magrider with a shipment to Longhorn. When Irene tries to board the train, a man attacks her but Bronco stops him. She says the man was Magrider but Bronco knows he is an impostor. Bronco has his own secret which is revealed when he finds Magrider with his gang on the train and confronts him.

The Turning Point

While on the trail Bronco comes upon a man suffering hallucinations after being bit by a rattlesnake. Bronco treats the bite staying with the man for a couple of days until he recovers. Both men are headed to Plainview but for different reasons. Bronco plans to homestead while the man calling himself Gary Williams is headed there to visit family. Bronco notices Gary is reading the law when he finds a Blackstone Law book in his belongings. They decide to head to Plainview together and perhaps homestead side by side and work together. In Plainview Bronco learns Williams is really John Wesley Hardin known as a killer. After killing a man who drew first, the local Sheriff wants Hardin out of the town but Bronco promises to keep Hardin in check but no one realizes what Hardin is up against due to his family who minister to the public.

Four Guns and a Prayer

Bronco has accepted the job of Sheriff of Cottonwood. As he arrives outside town three citizens greet him with a grave with his name on it. Once in town he talks to the current Sheriff and Mayor. He learns Cottonwood is under the thumb of Saul Garnet and his brother Dave who own the saloon. There has been several killings and the town founders have lost control. Bronco asks to hire some men he knows as deputies who happen to be gunfighters with bad reputations. The town is accepting of them after they clean out the Garnet gang but Aaron Lake is unhappy when the young Jamie Ringgold (Johnny Ringo's son) takes an interest in his daughter Marcy. When Jamie kills Dave Garnet, his brother vows vengeance on the town just as the three deputies are planning to settle in Cottonwood.

Long Ride Back

When a man stops at Enrique 'Ricky' Cortez's store to buy a gun, his musical watch causes Ricky to relate the history of a pistol the man wanted to buy and to attempt to purchase the watch which the man bought from an Indian. After the Civil War was over, a man called Bronco was the last man to return to the town from the war. He had been wounded and in a prisoner of war camp. His return surprises Redemption McNally who is his fiancé and her father Tom. Tom's son Freedom was in the war with Bronco and killed at the prison camp. When Jacob Stint sees Bronco, he tells everyone that Bronco was responsible for Freedom's death and was a traitor to the South. Upon hearing this news everyone in Bronco's hometown turns against him and want him to leave including Redemption. The only person who sticks with Bronco but with doubts is Ricky. The truth is that Bronco is not a traitor but he refuses to sully the name of the one who was the true traitor.

Trail to Taos

In the opening a gang of outlaws directs a band of Apaches to attack a stagecoach and kill everyone. They then take the mail pouch for drinking money that might be in it. Shortly afterwards Bronco rides into Taos, New Mexico where a Parson is preaching that the Army must not leave the area to keep the people safe as the female stage line owner Mike Torrence ties down four caskets on her stage to take them to the rail station. Bronco asks her what happened which she tells him while offering him a job as driver but he declines. Later, at a deserted set of buildings he meets secretly with the Washington Postal Service representative Walter Tyner. He is hiring Bronco to go undercover alone to find the gang stealing the mailbags. To aid Bronco he has printed fake wanted posters for Bronco putting a $2000 bounty on his head which will be distributed. Bronco uses them as an excuse to infiltrate the gang and learn the reason behind their strange actions.

Brand of Courage

While riding to a job, Bronco is shot in the back twice by the two Morgan boys because they think he is headed to a nearby convent. The convent ranch hand Jake finds Bronco so he takes him to the convent where the nuns tend to his wounds. He makes a rapid recover under their care. Unknown to him, they hope to convince him to stay to work for them on their cattle ranch. Because of a dispute with their neighboring cattle ranches, they have been unable to hire hands to take their cattle to market. The local ranchers lead by Morgan and Avery are holding back their cattle from the market hoping to drive the price up due to a shortage. Morgan goes to Bronco at the convent to apologize for his boy's actions as he truly wants no bloodshed. However, his immature boys and his spy on the convent Regan are anxious for a fight. Upon hearing the details of the disagreement, Bronco agrees to stay on as foreman firing Regan. However, the nuns lead by Sister Theresa wants no bloodshed so Bronco must become creative.

Freeze-Out

Mary Brown, a writer, hires Bronco to guide her to the ghost town Basin City. It is at a high altitude near an abandoned gold mine and a glacier. Upon arrival she vows to stay as they are greeted by a man who acts as if he owns the city - because he says he bought it. He goes by the name John Smith and tells them to take the building he normally stays in since it is safer with a strong door. A third man arrives toting a large fancy rifle going by the name James Jones saying he is there to "fish". That night they hear a ruckus outside and find an old grizzled man hitting Jones on the head with his pistol. Smith knows the man known as Pancake and stops him. Pancake thought Jones who was peeping through the slats on the window was spying on Smith. Later, Pancake tells Smith that he is going to keep an eye on the horses that night but the next morning the animals are gone with Pancake saying he fell asleep. Mary serves breakfast to everyone as Pancake tells what he knows but no one trusts each other. With no horses Bronco must see it through.

Baron of Broken Lance

Bronco is leading a wagon train up the Bozeman Trail to Montana. When he stops at the local saloon and hotel to have his mail forwarded, he runs into Pete Loomis who was a Sergeant under him during the war but was captured. Pete tells Bronco he is looking for the boss of the wagon train and Bronco says he is welcome to join but they are leaving now. Pete has some business to take care of so he agrees to meet the wagon train later that night as it won't be moving fast. After Pete and Bronco leave, the bartender stops Mitch Krass and asks if he is still willing to pay a double eagle for information on Pete Loomis which he is. Krass joins the train as well and eventually tells Bronco he is looking for Pete. Bronco decides to go off the Bozeman Trail to avoid the Sioux who are on the warpath but Matt Ryker refuses to let them cross his 200,000 acre ranch so they stick with the Bozeman Trail. Pete arrives that evening with a wagon and Cathy Ryker who he plans to wed at Fort Caspar. Pete is wanted by Krass and now Ryker plus the Sioux are active.

Payroll of the Dead

Bronco is paddling a canoe when two Sioux braves attack him from shore. He kills one but the second one waits for Bronco to surface after jumping in the river. As he resurfaces he hears a shot as the brave falls dead. A civilian on horseback has rescued Bronco. They make camp to allow Bronco to dry his clothes and rest. The man says he is a Major in the Army under special orders to retrieve a $25,000 payroll taken by Sitting Bull and the Sioux during a raid. His guide abandoned him so he asks Bronco to take over as his guide. Bronco had been trapping but lost his furs and is in need of supplies. He ultimately consents to join the Major even though he questions the Major's experience and knowledge of the Indians. The next night while camping they hear a noise which turns out to be private in the Army lost after his group was attacked while on an errand. A group of Cheyenne tell them where to find Sitting Bull. Once there, Bronco is surprised by what he hears.

Riding Solo

Bronco rides into town only to discover everyone is keeping their distance from him and a shot up stagecoach in front of the stage office where he works. Inside, he learns from Tom Biggert, stage owner, that the stage was held up by a friend of Bronco, Mike Kirk. Bronco was supposed to be the guard on the run but he says a message from his friend Mike Kirk caused him to ask for a replacement. In addition, the stage was carrying a $8,000 payroll. The sheriff has taken a posse to track down Kirk's gang with no law left in town. Neither Biggert or anyone else in town, including Bronco's girlfriend Orissa Flynn, believe Bronco's story. About noon, Deputy Tub Murphy returns from the posse alone. The town refuses to give Bronco a horse so he is isolated in the cantina with the bartender Pablo Delgado who he soon learns also believes he has the stolen money. Jess Kilgore who was replaced by Bronco at the stage line and as Orissa's boyfriend tries to persuade the mob to take action against Bronco. The situation turns into a stalemate.

Borrowed Glory

Bronco hears shots and sees two men on horseback ride away while firing at him. He takes two shots at them but they get away and he notices a body on the ground. As he pulls the man's wallet to check his id, a posse rides up. The dead man is the sheriff killed by two bullets. The leader of the posse, Mr. Currier, upon hearing Bronco has fired two shots asks for a rope. At that point Lloyd Stover rides up and confirms Bronco's story saving his life. Stover is a returning war hero who won the Congressional Medal of Honor. His brother Frank stayed home during the war making his fortune and stealing Lloyd's girl Nancy Currier. With the sheriff dead, the town names Lloyd the new sheriff which he accepts and asks Bronco to be his deputy. During their first rounds, Stover runs into Dick Nelson who has a scarred left cheek. The run in stuns Lloyd who under questioning admits to Bronco he is the dead man he had told Bronco from whom he stole the Medal of Honor. Bronco finds the sheriff's killers but finds Nelson is involved along with blackmail.

Silent Witness

As Bronco rides by he sees a group of boys bullying a girl. He picks her up and drops her off in town without a word from her as she escapes through a store. The store owner, Willis Turner, tells Bronco she is mute and an orphan found after a vicious Indian attack. Rose Traxel has taken her in and named her Dora. Bronco asks about a 50 year old Irishman he is hoping to find. Willis recognizes the description as being Sean Casey, a miner. Bronco rides out to the mine arriving just as a group of men knock out Sean and destroy his property. Sean can't afford to pay into the miner's protection society and the sheriff leaves mine protection to them. Bronco realizes there may be protection racket going on especially when he recognizes one of the Traxel brothers who did time for murder. Bronco becomes friends with Dora teaching her Indian sign language allowing her to communicate. Bronco is right about the Traxel brothers but he doesn't realize who is the real leader. Sean may have a strike so they frame Bronco for his murder and only mute Dora can help.

The Belles of Silver Flat

Bronco, on his way to Silver Flats where he has a high paying job offer, stops to fish. He and another man both hook a small fish leading to a friendly rivalry over it. Both have a good laugh that ends with them in the water. After drying off and dressing Bronco realizes the man, Dave Clayton, is a minister. Dave riding an expensive Arabian horse is headed to Silver Flats as well where he hopes to start a church. Bronco's job offer is to ride shotgun on a stage that has had the last three shotguns killed. Instead of the usual $50 pay, the bank offers $200 and a bonus of $100 if a gold note shipment makes it through successfully. Broke, Bronco takes the job. He becomes involved as Dave looks for a temporary meeting place for the church and has his first service - in the saloon. The saloon owner Turk Hansen is tricked by Dave in drawing cards for use of the saloon. Turk is working with Doc Moody to steal the gold notes. Doc recognizes that Dave is really the gunfighter Sam Driscoll and that both he and Bronco need to be eliminated.

Backfire

Bronco has settled into the job of deputy in Two Pines under Sheriff Lincoln McKeever who has a reputation for having cleaned up the town but he is getting older and slower. When a young ruffian shoots up the saloon and asks for McKeever, it unsettles the sheriff. When they clash in the street, Bronco saves McKeever. McKeever's worries about his future carry over to his nightly poker game with three of the town's leading citizens. They include Wade Stanton, saloon owner, Howard Thorpe, bank owner, and Bert Daley, the general store owner. Stanton pays McKeever to stay open past the legal closing time and Daley sells liquor to the Indians. They suggest they rebuild McKeever's reputation by faking a bank robbery and letting McKeever recover the money. That night three men rob the bank with McKeever firing in the air but then he finds the bank teller dead. This further unsettles McKeever who wants no part of murder. Bronco's investigation finds some surprising evidence. When McKeever turns up dead, Bronco uses some trickery to solve the crime.

School for Cowards

Bronco as a favor to General Hunter arrives at the Martin Military School for Boys as an instructor in frontier warfare. Capt. Martin hoped for a military officer but decides to try Bronco rather than go against General Hunter's recommendation. One of the boys, Jamie Reynolds, takes a keen interest in Bronco and the two become close friends. Bronco's easy going ways ruffles Capt. Martin's feathers especially when Bronco takes Jamie fishing on visiting day forcing his mother to wait hours for him as she was not expected. His dad, an army officer has died. Shortly afterwards, a Sioux woman named Monacita arrives saying she is Jamie's real mother and that his father was her husband but he took the boy away when he was very young. A cadet overhears them talking and spreads the word about Jamie who is teased. Bronco tries to help but is fired but returns when Jamie runs away. Events lead him to think Jamie is in danger from his future stepfather.

Prairie Skipper

Bronco was hired by the Diamond K owner to be the trail boss of 1500 head of cattle headed for the market at Sedalia, Missouri. This has put him at odds with the foreman of the ranch Jeb Thomas who is the ramrod. A flooded river is forcing Bronco to take the herd on a detour which is an unknown route. Before they cross the river three men lead by rancher Tom Barkley ride in saying they are trying to rescue his daughter who was kidnapped. He wants Bronco's men to help but Bronco fears losing the herd so he refuses to help. Across the river he finds a couple of wagons led by naval officer Capt. Amos Carr. The need for attention to the wagon wheels and harness forces Bronco to help. Carr asks Bronco if they have run into any "pirates" who are after something he is carrying. Bronco replies no but Carr decides to stay with the slower herd plus Carr says he can find the pass Bronco is counting on. That evening Bronco learns the "pirates" are Barkley and the treasure is the girl who Carr says he has married as Bronco soon finds he has inherited a mess.

Shadow of a Man

Bronco flush with money from his last job decides on a route based on the flip of a coin. He sees a saddled horse running followed by a shout and gun shots. He finds Clete Raynor sinking fast in quicksand. Bronco throws him a rope to drag him to safety. Clete says he and a partner, prankster Cookie Meyers, are on a mustang hunt. He asks Bronco to join them for some quick cash. They send Bronco to track the mustangs but when they don't show, he heads back. He spots a stage coach overturned with a crowd of men around it. Clete and Cookie return with a man holding a gun on them who Bronco disarms. They tell Bronco the man is one of the robbers. They decide to run with the man as a prisoner gagged and handcuffed. After some time spent hiding in a remote location, Bronco decides to remove the gag to give him some water. The man says he is a Pinkerton agent and the others are the robbers. In the standoff, Cookie is killed while Bronco shoots Clete. Now Bronco has nothing to prove his innocence except for Clete's instructions as he dies.

Hero of the Town

Bronco drives the stage into Dusty Flats with a representative from the railroad coming to Dusty Flats along with the $10,000 payroll in new Gold Certificates. The bank clerk Tod Biggs is given the money and escorted to the bank by Bronco to deposit the money. As they prepare to count the money, three masked men enter from the back. Bronco throws the money in the safe and locks it but is knocked out. The men force Tod to unlock the safe. He is knocked to the floor falling on Bronco's pistol. He recognizes one of the men's ring calling him Bitsy. Bitsy shoots Tod killing him and he dies with Bronco's gun in his hand. Bronco wakes up, lets the crowd in the bank but is unable to say exactly what happened. People assume the dead Tod was a hero while Bronco was a coward who they won't allow to even join a posse. Against the wishes of Tod's wife and son, he tries on his own to find the robbers. The inept sheriff finds no trace but Bronco finds some clues which leads him to the men - much to his disappointment.

Red Water North

Bronco has been working as a mule-skinner for the Caleb White freight line at Fort Union but quits when they murder an Indian to steal his furs. Bronco is offered a job on the side-wheel steamship Mountain Queen on the Missouri River by its owner Martha Chandler. Bronco turns down the job. He has mixed feelings toward Martha and her son Rolf because Bronco, a deputy, killed her husband Frank during a bank robbery. Martha knows but Rolf doesn't and he is jealous of Bronco. When Bronco's friend Matt Crane, pilot on the Mountain Queen, is killed by White the gang, Bronco decides to take his place. The Mountain Queen can put White out of business. It has a load of Army rifles to take up river to Fort Benton. Rolf is overseeing the ship with Captain Taylor but Martha gives Bronco papers giving him control if needed. On board two unexpected passengers including the gorgeous blonde Gilda Harper and businessman Pollard have Bronco working to stay afloat.
