Divorcee Trish Winterman is raped on her way home from her friend Cath Atwood's party but takes three days before reporting it, due to shock and shame. She can give Ellie and Hardy no clue as to her attacker. They interview Cath and her husband Jim, along with Trish's employer Ed Burnett, but none can offer any ideas as to the identity of the rapist. The case is interrupted when Ellie faces a family crisis but then she is given information by Trish, suggesting the culprit singled her out for the attack.
