Episode 1

Hoppo expects the new season may be even busier then the seven ones before. Reidy, Whippet, former victim Hayden, other locals and the security cameras are key to catch a new bag thieves, soon turned over to the police despite resistance. The boys have kept fit during their winter holiday to pass the annual test. For Nestor Harry 'H' Nightingale (53), who went to Java, the challenge is the rule he must finish no later then 5 minutes after the winner, in this case Deano, but he makes it with lots of encouragement, one boy even stays back with him. The noise of Bondi's crowd can be a problem, for giving safety instructions and searching missing persons.

Bondi faces its wettest, coldest Christmas in decades. Santa Yates surfs, skateboards and break-dances, only a day earlier, before the crowd flees. Playful recruit Taco (18) still pays his dues and is trained, with Maxi as mentor. Reidy and swimming champion Spot Anderson are mistakenly believed in need of rescue.

2013 takes a lively, busy start with lots of drunk revelers. Some of the revelers even steal Harries's buggy. Following a shark attack nearby, sightings must be taken seriously. Ultimately Hoppo must make the decision to sound the alarm. He leaves that honor to a delighted rookie, Taco. Meanwhile an ex lifeguard reports what is presumed to be a kidnapped child.

For two months off season, semi-deserted Bondi is guarded by a skeleton summer crew. Dean leads a delegation including Reidy, Yates and Harries, some of whom were there before, to go work with the poorly-equipped colleagues on Bali, in Indonesia, at Kota beach, great for surfing but the most dangerous beach in the world. Marcello's team also has some quirky methods, like massage. The boys have mixed reactions on the bustling tourist town.

Bali Part 2

The Bondi six start their second day on Kuta beach, five times as large as Bondi, the Balinese way, which includes a spicy diet, push-ups for latecomers and dance-like calisthenics. Although not yet familiar with the beach, they start rescuing. As they find all equipment inadequate and/or scarce, from communication to boards and medical supplies, Kerrbox gets a long shopping list. Deano likes the Kuta rookie enough to re-dub him Maxi after his own playful Benjamin. Chappo gets squeamish during a visit to the local market, due to the bloodily dismembered animals. Chappo considers a local curiosity, 'scorpion' acrobatics while surfing, a challenge, but he nor Deano can pull it off, unlike the Balinese.

Visitor Whippet is most welcome, baring a most generous load of top-notch gifts, even a quad, all of which is needed on Kuta beach. Although Balinese time is flexible in general, briefing latecomers are punished with push-ups, as some Bondi boys find out. Balinese traffic is daunting, yet clownish Harries and college-graduate Tom do tests for an Indonesian motorcycle drivers license.

Bali Part 5

Whippet remains on the team. Even with the shipment he brought, most of Marchello's 101 Kuta lifeguards remain most poorly equipped. While surfers need to brave the dangerous elements, here so tempting that even multiple world champion Kelly Slater is a regular, some knucklehead tourist ignore tireless warnings, one Frenchmen even maintains his young son's rescue was 'not necessary'. Whippet and Yates visit a ghost-ship, a fishing vessel reported missing weeks ago, while harries handles 'PR' with flirtatious girls.

Bali Part 6

At the end of their moth long tour, Whippet and Dean's six learn more about Balinese traditions and Hindu devotion, culminating in a a recently deceased rajah's cremation with 70 other locals. Kuta lifeguards may be poorly paid, they enjoy the perks, especially generally respected chief Marchello, whose pin-up looks and oriental charm outdo Harries utterly as ladies-man. Finally, the next shift of Bondi boys arrives to take over.

Bali Part 8

Whippet and his mates feel their equipment won't yield the best result unless the Balinese surmount some practices and cultural differences. Azza tries diplomatically not to rebuke flaws but offer Bondi example as alternative for improvement. The locals tend to agree in general in show excessive zeal on top of giving up unprofessional drinking and flirting. Yet they won't consider on principal to bring in rescued people's surfing boards, although a hazard as well as cause for fines and hassle. Kuta is similar to Bondi in its rich, sometimes crazy variety. Reidy scolds bathers who ignore safety instructions as utterly rude and dangerously stupid disrespect. Both lifeguard teams compete in a beach football (soccer) match, decides by the openly partial Balinese referee.

Bali Part 9

The 'Java express' is the no lesser counterpart of Bondi's frightfully strong current in the high surfing section, similarly requiring frequent, often difficult rescues. Yet Kuta tourist ignore safety instructions frequently. A Balinese boy of 4 has lost his parents.

Bali Part 10

The Bondi boys' two months Kuta mission is about to end. A marching band on the beach may be entertaining, neither life guards team has much luck warning poor swimmers against unsafe inflatable devices or imposes the rules on dangerous surfers. Two young Balinese boys suffer from a surfing injury viz. having inflicted it accidentally. Whippet and Reidy enjoy a taste of Hindu temple devotion. Surfers Whippet, Azza and Matt enjoy a taste of the killer waves from Lombok island, despite the dangers and quite some injuries on the reef. The boys leave a goodbye present of $25,000 collected by the 35 Bondi colleagues. Each of the six joins a Balinese post team in a beach relay race, which Whippet and Marshllo's team wins. The Bali finale ends with a party and flashbacks.

The Roosters NRL team go surfing with the lifeguards, but tragedy strikes when one of the players runs over Yatesy on a rescue board, breaking his ribs and puncturing his lung.
