During a floor show in Shannon's place, girl dancers throw paper camellias to the audience as a finale. Lee Adrian has employed girls to smuggle in a ruby from Brazil, concealed in a flower, and pass it along to his contact, Ed Medina. Slate intercepts the innocent-appearing Camellia, and he and Medina do battle over it. Medina's knocked out and removed. Adrian goes back to Shannon's with Medina again to make sure his contact doesn't fail this time. Slate, however, has decorated Mama George's pet burro's hat with the ruby, though when Medina offers him payment for flower, Slate is suspicious. Medina threatens him with a gun but Slate is quick and Medina's out again. Seconds later, three shots announce Medina's dead. Sailor catches Adrian running away, gun in hand, and identifies· his picture. Slate questions the "dancers" but gets nowhere. Sailor and Slate's flower hunt takes them back to Mama George's and her suitors. They recover the ruby in time to have Adrian take it at gun point. As they drive away, an explosion arranged by Adrian almost ensues, but Sailor discovers the fire and Slate puts it out. He runs back, surprises Adrian, they fight and Slate finishes him.

After a famous matador collapses during a mock bullfight with Sailor, his associates discover that he'd been stabbed earlier in the day and accuse Slate of killing him out of jealousy. Slate launches his own investigation and discovers that the lusty bullfighter was a married man who left a string of beautiful conquests in his wake - and an equally angry spouse.

Slate and Sailor are costumed and reveling in a Mardi Gras celebration in Trinidad as Slate encounters ex-girlfriend, Ginny. In a hotel suite with her lover, Tom Williams, we learn Ginny and Tom plan to make Slate patsy for Tom's murder of Ginny's husband. During "reminiscences" at their dinner for two, Ginny gun-butts Slate. When he awakens to find the dead husband and his own prints on gun, he phones Keith-Barker, learns Ginny's accused Slate of the killing. He bolts and seeks refuge at Ken Davis' shack. Ken finds there's a reward for Slate and tries to kill him, but Slate's on him first. They battle and Sailor arrives to see Slate knock Ken unconscious. Slate's furious when he sees that Keith-Barker's followed her. He gets boat keys off Ken and he and Sailor leave in a power boat as Keith-Barker fires after them. At Ginny's suite, Slate surprises the guard and Ginny. Sailor slips inside the apartment after Slate with the guard bound and gagged in next room. Slate searches place and orders Ginny to bring Tom there. When he arrives, Tom and Ginny accuse each other and Tom attacks Slate. They fight and Slate wins. Ginny tries wiles, but Slate turns both over to a detective who's witnessed it all.

Sailor buys a painting for Estaban, the artist. Alma Ross comes to Shannon's place sees the painting and believes the subject of the painting is her dead fiancee, a ship's captain who was allegedly blown up in an explosion. This belief is nurtured by the fact the painting was done after her fiancee's (Willard) demise. Clausen and Simonides, the heavies and progenitors of the explosion, unsuccessfully try to get the painting back from Slate and Sailor. Slate knows the subject of the painting personally and convinces him to give up his revenge blackmail scheme and come to Port-of-Spain to see his fiancee even though he is horribly disfigured. Slate succeeds in this convincing, however he arrives at Shannon's Place to find Estaban murdered and the painting stolen. Convinced that the way to bring the heavies to justice is in the ship's log, Slate finds it and uses it as a lure to entrap Clausen and Simonides.

Slate and Sailor are at sea - spy drifting on a bullet-ridden lifeboat on which there are four dead men. They report their finding to the admiralty in Port-of-Spain, and are told that the mothership of the lifeboat, the S.S. Kearney has not been heard from in two years. The girl in the admiralty office, is in the employ of an immigrant smuggling ring and reports Slate's visit to the chief heavy, Chaney. Chaney sends Wanda, a spurious immigrant, to Slate who lures Slate into a meeting in a Port-of-Spain bistro. Slate falls unconscious by knockout drops. Later, Sailor, who is searching the Barrio for Slate, is taken by the heavy. Thus, both Slate and Sailor are now in the heavy's hands, along with a group of about-to-be smuggled immigrants who will be dumped and/or murdered at sea. Slate incites the immigrants to riot, thereby overpowering the heavies.

A sailor, Matt Osburne is celebrating by breaking up hotel room in Shannon's Place. Slate and Sailor discover the reason for jubilation is Osburne's death notice in the paper. Slate lets him sleep it off and he and Sailor go to the sailor's wife, Betty, to collect breakage. She insists that Matt's dead. As Slate and Sailor leave, Johnny Garr moves to comfort the apprehensive wife. Investigating the obituary notice, Slate traces Matt's movements to a steam room, and learns that a thief, Billy, rolled Matt, was accidentally smashed by car, identified as Matt and cremated. Slate goes to Matt's room, and discovers the sailor's been knifed. During Keith-Barker's investigation, Betty insists the man is not her husband. Slate tells Keith-Barker to run a check on Billy. An insurance investigator, Hillary Matthews, offers Slate $2,000 to help her look into alleged Osburne death. From a barrio bum, Slate learns of Garr's association with Betty Osburne. Slate returns to the hotel and finds Betty, who accuses Garr of killing Billy by mistake, then stabbing Matt. Now she's afraid and begs for help. Slate, Sailor and Betty go to Matt's house, find Garr armed and waiting. During the gunfight, Slate gets the drop on Garr, who then tells him that Betty ordered Matt's death. Sailor calls the police.

A courier for an aluminum products company checks into Shannon's Place, accompanied by Inspector Keith-Barker. After he is safely ensconced to his room, Kieth-Barker tells Sailor she is in trouble with the Immigration Office and must go there with him. Slate goes along. Here Sailor is confronted by Ian Viborg, an old European acquaintance of Sailor's. He has signed a deposition involving her in a theft. Because of Sailor's cloudy status on Trinidad, Sailor is declared undesirable and is given twenty-four hours to leave. Outside of the office, Ian tells Slate he will confess to the spuriousness of the deposition if Slate procures the briefcase which the courier had chained to his wrist. Slate agrees and returns to the hotel. He clobbers the courier and gets the briefcase. While he opens it with King Moses, Sailor leaves unobtrusively. Slate discovers that the briefcase contains a geodetic survey of the Caribbean bauxite deposits. He goes to the Bold Venture to meet Ian, who has not as yet appeared. Ian is with Sailor and offers her a retraction of the deposition, thus easing the way for Slate's vindication, if Sailor will come away with him. Sailor agrees but insists they meet Slate at the BOLD VENTURE to say goodbye. They meet Slate and in the ensuing name-calling battle between Sailor and Slate, Slate slugs Ian and gets a retraction.

On a beach picnic on the opposite side of the Island from Port-of-Spain, Slate and Sailor espy a murdered man on the beach. They report the crime at a nearby sponge fishing village, which is owned by Mike Elliot. Rebuffed in their attempts to make it a matter of importance, they return to the beach to await a proper sailing tide. Slate narrowly misses death by a tossed fishing spear. At Port-of-Spain they learn that Mike Elliot went on a sponge-bed locating expedition and returned without his partner, whom he says drowned. However, Slate had just that day seen the purportedly drowned man at the scene of the murder. Returning to the village he tells Mike Elliot with the fact that his partner had not drowned and is out for vengeance. He saves Mike Elliot from being murdered, but has now the knowledge that Mike is the perpetrator of the original crime and nearly killed Slate.

A man who keeled over in Shannon's Place from sun stroke, and was put to bed in Shannon's room, is murdered. Incidentally, Slate has received a notification that he is to be killed. Slate calls on the murdered man's wife and learns that the man had no enemies. At Keith-Barker's office he learns that two weeks ago in Tobago a second man had received a similar note as Slate and this man was murdered. When Slate returns to his hotel he receives another note saying that a mistake was made and that Slate would surely be eviscerated. Slate, now with something to go on, goes, and comes up with the name of Monte Fayne. He finds Monte dying and learns the connection between himself, Monte, and the man who was killed in Tobago. He learns thereby that the man he is looking for is registered in his hotel. Slate also discovers the motive for all these shenanigans, tracks the man down, and in a face-to-face scene in which they match wit and sinew, Slate emerges victorious.

Sisters from Florida, Amy and Liz Fonda, are at Shannon's Place searching for Trinidad joy. Slate tries supply them with said joy, much to Sailor's dismay. He receives a strange note from Eddy Mercer to please meet him next day. The sisters sent the note so as to get Slate to go to Mercer, whom they've been trying locate. When Amy murdered her lover in Florida, Liz, hired Mercer as a private eye to protect Amy. She wanted him to hide the incriminating evidence: the murder weapon. He did, kept it, and has been blackmailing the gals ever since. They're here to kill him. Slate and Sailor go to their hotel but Eddy's gone. They search him in Barrio, find him and his wife, Maria. They learn they've been followed when gunshots are fired thru window. Slate fires after a speeding car but one of killer's shots found Eddy. Before he dies he gives Slate the gun telling him it's his fault. He insists Slate keep gun. At Keith-Barker's, Slate warns Sailor not mention gun. Barker says evidence shows someone fired out the window, and lets him go for now. Maria, Eddy's wife, comes to Slate, tells him about Eddy and the monthly payment. They ran out of money and they had to hide out. It's not Slate's fault Eddy's dead. Slate checks the serial number of the gun with the Miami police, and finds out it was registered to Amy Fonda. Slate goes to gals and they try bribing him. Amy crosses Liz, saying Liz killed Mercer and guy in Miami. Liz is horrified. It's obvious Amy's guilty and Slate phones Keith-Barker.

Dick Marlin comes to Shannon's Place with two tear-shaped diamonds called the Tears of Siva. He says he is being followed. Slate takes him to a lapidary who tells Slate and Dick that the jewels are paste. Dick's two friends, May Alcott and Frank Wright, show up at Shannon's Place looking for Dick, but can't find him. Later Dick is shot dead in Shannon's bedroom and Slate ends up with the Tears of Siva. Slate, summoned by a phone call, goes to see May and Frank, who try to kill him for the diamonds. Slate outwits them and takes these two worthies and summons the lapidary to the Bold Venture. By a clever ruse, he exposes the lapidary and takes Sailor home.

Slate and Sailor go to the wedding of Mark and Trina. At the wedding, Mark is poisoned and murdered. Slate interests himself in the crime because of his long and platonic relationship with Trina. Unraveling the skeins through a voodoo shop and thence to a barber shop, Slate determines that the murderer is Harry Archer. At the time of the revelation, Slate is picked up, along with Harry, by the murdered man's friends and forced to attend a kangaroo court. The verdict of the court is that Slate must face Harry in a knife fight. By clever machinations, Slate extricates himself and takes Sailor home.

Beautiful Shan Djiva asks Slate to help find Johnny Sung - a Chinese boy just out of prison after serving three years for theft. Johnny's lawyer at the time rigged the trial so that he could collect Johnny fifty thousand dollar lottery that he had won the same day. Slate makes several discoveries: Johnny is freshly killed and his lawyer is newly robbed of the money by Shan Djiva. The lawyer tries to kill Shan and Slate. Slate overcomes the lawyer and takes Sailor home.

Jimmy Dorr is sent to Trinidad to assassinate an aging gangster by the name of Konno. At the end of the first act we learn that Jimmy was sent into a trap and that he's actually been brought to Trinidad in order that he himself be assassinated. Slate, with Sailor as a hostage, is put into a vault room with Jimmy. Slate is given a gun, a single bullet, and instructions to murder Jimmy or he himself will be murdered. By means of a clever ruse, Slate emerges unscathed and takes Sailor home.

When Slate sets out to rescue an Indiana tourist on a first-time-in-forty-years-of marriage spree, he finds the tourist has been murdered and tossed into the sea. Not satisfied with the thousand dollars they took from the Indiana philanderer, the Shanghaiers hold Slate for all the ransom the Bold Venture will bring in hock. They also plan to do away with Slate and Sailor too. Slate, through a clever ruse, bests the them and takes Sailor home.

A hurricane is brewing in Trinidad. Into this maelstrom comes Jamie Kent, who's been stabbed but refuses to say how he got the wound. While Slate and Sailor are administering to his health when Jamie's girlfriend Ruth enters. The heavy, Conrad, enters shortly thereafter. Conrad attempts to kill Jamie, but Slate disarms him. Slate takes Jamie and Ruth to a doctor and drops Conrad off at the police. Sailor, enchanted by the rain, starts to dance. Two other heavies see her and and threaten her unless she reveals where they took Jamie. At the doctor's office we learn that Jamie is connected with these heavies and they are out to murder him. Slate comes back and saves Sailor, who under normal circumstances, would have faced a fate worse than death.

Slate wants to find a thief and killer who some years before has stolen some museum pieces. To pull off the crime, the thief sent a friend of Slate's off for a long vacation on a Yucatan prison farm. Slate invents a pair of feather cape "museum pieces' which he knows will smoke out the elusive and very crooked connoisseur of stolen objects d'art. When he finds the thief, he also finds himself faced with a murder charge frame-up in return for butting in. With the help of his friend, now back from his jungle retreat, Slate does some conjuring on the connoisseur and takes Sailor home.

A real-wife murder mystery. A sugar plantation owner has, to all appearances, committed suicide. At least so says his foreman, and so avers his long-time-wandering wife who returns to claim his leavings. But it turns out that not only did the plantation owner not commit suicide, but that his foreman, who is soon found dead as well, similarly did not commit suicide. In the end it's the fact that plantation owner's beautiful wife, Dulcie, doesn't have pierced ears to go with earrings bought for his real-wife which solves the puzzle. After a dinner tet-a-tet with Dulcie, during which Slate examines her ears, he calls the police and takes Sailor home.

A Farouk-like Prince visits Trinidad. Slate refuses to accommodate the royal party, making no secret of his intense dislike for the Prince. Immediately thereafter, an attempt is made on the Prince's life -- and Slate is accused of having known of the murder plot. He has hardly wiggled out of that accusation when Sailor is abducted and used as bait to lure Slate to the Prince's yacht. On the yacht, Slate walks right smack into a corpse, a framed murder rap, and some flying fists. But his own aggressiveness -- with help from an unexpected source --leads to the ultimate victory of The Good, The True, The Right, and The Just... after which he takes Sailor home.

Slate spends much time and energy with Leslie, whom he suspects is the murderess. By a clever ruse, he discovers that she is indeed the murderess, and Slate takes Sailor home.

Slate is hired by the aged employer of the beautiful Irish Coleen to deliver a pack of ransom money to would-be extortionists. In the graveyard where he is to deliver the money, Slate is clobbered and the money is stolen. Called to the Daumier sanctuary for wayward Girls, Slate soon discovers a parchment-skinned antique of a wayward Girl who was once thwarted in her romantic inclinations by Slate's rich employer. He discovers that she has murdered once, and later, he has the pleasure of watching her do it again. This time, she murders the man who is not really his employer at all, but the employer's greedy son. Oh, yes, the extortionist turns out to be a blackmailer instead. Those who deserve it, get their comeuppances, and Slate takes sailor home.

A local commercial fisherman hauls in a net full of tuna--canned tuna. This is a big waterfront joke, until Slate and Sailor discover that the cans contain vials of morphine. Slate sends Sailor to fetch the police while he hurries to find the fisherman and the remaining cans. But Slate discovers that the fisherman has been murdered and is taken prisoner by the actual dope smugglers. While Sailor and Keith-Barker scour the waterfront for Slate, the fisherman, the cans, and the culprits, Slate uses his charm and ingenuity to capture his captors. Keith-Barker and Slate take the tuna and Sailor home, respectively.

When a lonely widow, a member of the Darby and Joan Lonely Hearts Club, is found dead with a photo of Slate Shannon in her hand, the police assume that he's involved. What they don't know -- and what Slate finds out in a series of painful encounters -- is that the widow's husband isn't dead at all but has been in cahoots with the head of the Lonely Hearts Club. Together they arranged to make Slate the patsy in a scheme whereby they hope to inherit the widow's estate and live on it together. In the middle of a dance, Slate explains to the Keeper of the Lonely Hearts why their plan failed and why the police are on their way at that precise moment. After all of which, Slate takes Sailor home .

An old friend, Chalco, a Trinidadian merchant, comes to have an American dinner at Slate's with his newly-arrived niece, Lily. Two other arrivals at Slate's are Professor Klaus Schiller, the German Museum head, and Miss Harriet Quincey, a missionary on a world tour sabbatical. That night Chalco is forced to take poison to avoid torture by an intruder looking for the skull of Irving Tezcula. Slate sets out to find the intruder by finding the skull. He announces a showing of the skull to set a trap. At Chalco's home, Miss Quincey shows her hand, and involves the Professor in a planned theft to get the skull for themselves and the million dollars it can bring when the jewels covering it are removed and sold.

Slate, Sailor and Bill Karney sail to Maracaibo where their business partner, Juano Martinez, has struck oil. Some years before, Juano's brother was killed and Juano believes that Slate or Bill killed his brother, using the discovery of oil as an excuse. The oil well catches fire, and while Slate is helping to put it out, Bill tries to kill Juano. Just before Slate catches Bill, the oil fire is put out and, with water raining down around them, Bill finds out that the well was a shallow one and that he killed for nothing.

A headline-happy starlet and her husband turn Shannon's Place into bedlam with their publicity stunts. Before Slate can kick them out, the starlet confesses that she has accidentally murdered her husband. Trouble is, there's no corpse, no evidence of violence, and no husband. What's more, her jewels are gone too. Slate learns that the husband used the ruse to steal the jewels in order to pay off a gambling debt. When the gambler tries to sell the jewels back to the starlet, she admits that they are worthless. Shortly thereafter, she reports to Slate that her husband is dead -- again. This time, however, it's true -- and Slate battles his way through fighting cocks and switch-blade knives to bring the killer to Justice.

This pursuit involves a night-club-owner-entertainer who gets shot because he found out too much about the fiancee and wanted to pass his information along. Slate grabs the playboy -- the real culprit -- off a steamer, just before the gangplank is raised.

Slate gets entangled with the beautiful barrister who handled the insurance and who is, in turn, entangled with a glib-tongued opportunist. She and this opportunist try to get all of the fifty grand they were planning to share. After maneuvering the falling out of triumphs, Slate takes Sailor home.

When a guest arrives unexpectedly at Shannon's Place, via a closet door, Slate finds himself chosen for the pleasant task of being substituted for one killer so another one can knock him off if he wants to... and he wants to. Slate has to work one of his customary miracles to get himself into the hospital instead of fifty feet under water in an inhospitable conditions. And the nurses are such that he hates to get out of his wheel chair to wipe out the heavies. But in the end he does.

Now, years later, this scum shows up in Trinidad and does some wild ambushing of his own: snakes in lovely women's beds; bullet holes where somebody was about to sit down. He and Slate have a horror of a suspenseful pursuit on the docks at night in which Slate shoots the scum and ends the vendetta. He then takes Sailor home.

Beautiful Roberta London is sending money to the husband who abandoned her for a life of Caribbean nights and jollies. The money is being delivered by a Jibacao postman, so Slate assumes he'll find Greg London, the night-errant husband, there. Just as Slate thinks he has found Greg, then Roberta London and a young fellow in a Brooks Brothers suit are found murdered. Slate figures -- and rightly so -- that Mrs. London has been sending money to a guy who wasn't really her husband at all, but the man who had murdered him some time back. Naturally Greg tries to add Slate to his score, but there are more Bold Ventures to shoot.

A frightened woman who can't forget the past is chosen by international an stinker, Kazantos, as a patsy in the set-up murder of one of his henchmen. Attempting to get in the way of whatever plans Kazantos has going, Slate winds up having to crawl back to his hotel after a Barrio beating, only to find a murder at home. Instead of the henchmen it is Kazantos who's dead, or seems to be. It doesn't take Slate long to figure out Kazantos's scheme and triumph over evil.

If Bill Hayes hadn't killed his wife in a drunken moment, and if Marjorie Driscoll hadn't loved him so much and for so long that she alibied for him in court and got him acquitted, Bill wouldn't now be looking for whoever killed his wife. And Slate Shannon wouldn't be involved in his usual way trying to find out not only who killed the wife, but also who killed a guy who has been blackmailing Marjorie, since the trial. Eventually he has to find whoever killed Marjorie herself. Bill Hayes' death-wish is on the verge of being gratified as Slate calls the police at the final curtain fall of this worthy series.

Fighter Pepe Gomez is a lucky lad: he has a fight manager who found him, took him to the big-time, built him to be a contender, brought him the beautiful Rita and helped them get married. This manager is still around helping, even though Pepe has returned to Trinidad determined to quit fighting. It isn't until Pepe is framed for murder by his manager and Rita that both Pepe and Slate realizes the manager and Rita have been skulldugging all along. They want him to get him back in the ring, or else get him permanently out of the way. Naturally, Slate Shannon acts like the leading man of a television series and saves the day.

Slate, Sailor and the Bold Venture, on a pleasure cruise, are shanghaied by their three passengers and forced to a remote island to recover a $200,000 pay-load flight. This flight was assumed lost in the Caribbean by authorities. The pilot and their accomplice is no where to be found near the helicopter's wreckage, so the party splits up to search for him. Slate and Sailor are forced to be in the company of one of the villains. In a desperate hand-to-hand battle over a sinkhole, Slate overcomes their guard. He and Sailor then follow the staggering trail of the wounded pilot, finally discovering him hidden in a cave. While Sailor tends to the man's injuries, but remaining villains overtake the trio in the cave and, believing the money there with them, start to seal the cave's only opening. In a furious gun battle, the wounded pilot diverts his betrayer's attention enough to allow Slate and Sailor to escape. He is killed, but only after finishing off one of the remaining two men. The pilot revealed to Slate where he had hidden the money. Slate and Sailor uncover the chest, narrowly escaping death when the surviving member of the group overtakes them. Slate contrives a hand-to-hand battle with the villain, wins, and returns to Jamaica with Sailor.
