More to save his own skin than the Prince's, Edmund Blackadder announces Baldrick's candidacy for a vacant MP post in order to stop him.

Samuel Johnson has nearly completed his dictionary, and visits his sponsor the Prince Regent. Unfortunately, the illiterate Baldrick burns the manuscript leaving Blackadder the impossible task of recreating in one weekend what it took Johnson nearly a decade to write.

With all of London enchanted by the escapades of the Scarlet Pimpernel, Edmund Blackadder makes a bet with the Prince that he can similarly rescue a nobleman from France. As always, he has no intention of actually doing this, but instead devises a cunning plan of deceit.

The Prince Recent attends the theater, where he narrowly survives an assassination attempt. Shocked to learn that he is not loved by everyone in the country, he dispatches Edmund Blackadder to hire actors to educate him in speech and deportment. Blackadder is rightly worried about the consequences of this meeting, as the Prince seems incapable of understanding the concept of acting.

Blackadder discovers that the Prince Regent is completely broke, which puts a dent in his embezzlement ambitions. With parliament growing tired of continually giving the Prince handouts, Blackadder devises a cunning plan to restore their fortunes by marriage into a wealthy family. This plan is hampered by the fact that nobody in their right mind would want to marry the Prince.

Edmund Blackadder is amused to learn that his Scottish cousin McAdder has arrived in London, once again determined to wreak havoc and break hearts. Meanwhile, the Prince Regent has seduced some relatives of the Duke of Wellington, who is back from his military campaign in Europe and keen to defend the honor of his young female relatives.
