Samantha's Yoo Hoo Maid

Thu, Sep 25, 196925 mins

Endora has hired Esmeralda, a witch, to be Samantha's maid. Although she is a witch, Darrin, who can't argue that Samantha could use some help in light of her pregnancy, is convinced to let Samantha give Esmeralda a try after Endora tells them that Esmeralda has lost most of her powers beyond the occasional fading out into invisibility when she's nervous, and just needs a secure, loving environment to restore her confidence. Although Darrin was going to work at home the day of Esmeralda's arrival, Endora uses a little witchcraft to send Darrin into the office for the day instead so that she can tell the other important issue about Esmeralda to Samantha in confidence: Esmeralda's weak and involuntary powers only emerge when she sneezes, the resulting witchcraft, usually in the form of an object appearing out of nowhere, always temporary. How temporary is on a case by case basis. Potential problems ensue when Darrin is forced by Larry to bring one of the firm's out-of-town clients, Mr. Hampton, to the house, with Esmeralda likely to sneeze or fade into nothingness in Mr. Hampton and Larry's presence.

His arrival is bad timing as Larry informs Darrin that they will be hosting a business dinner for a potential new client, Evelyn Charday, who is trying to market a new men's cologne, Top Tiger. Complications ensue when Esmeralda, who has figured out the correct incantation to send him back, can't get it to work solely because Caesar doesn't want to go back until he rights what he believes are the wrongs on the pages of history in the way he is portrayed. As such, Samantha has to figure out a way for him to want to go back. Before his return, Caesar may prove to be useful in Darrin and Larry's campaign idea problem.

As Samantha and Darrin have a business dinner at Larry's with a new client, they are hoping that Dr. Bombay's treatment is effective. Samantha and Darrin learn from Endora that the imminent arrival of Darrin's parents to visit with the new baby - who they've decided to name Frank Maurice Stephens after the two grandfathers - will coincide with a visit from Samantha's father, who will not take too kindly to the baby not having the first name Maurice. Indeed, Maurice, upon his arrival, shows his obvious anger about the situation, which he wants to discuss with Samantha and Darrin alone without the senior Stephens present, a task he is able to accomplish with a little witchcraft. Maurice does whatever required to get Samantha and Darrin to change the baby's name to Maurice, including some witchcraft strongarming, with Darrin still refusing to be bullied into Maurice's wants. So Maurice decides a better tact may be to speak to Mr. Stephens Sr. about the situation grandfather to grandfather. Throughout the negotiations, Samantha may have some ideas of her own to break the impasse, with Mrs. Stephens Sr. being the unfortunate recipient of one of her notorious headaches in the process.

As Darrin won't back down especially as they are doing it in part for a worthwhile cause, Endora decides to give Darrin a little taste of her perspective by turning him into one of those stereotypical looking witches, complete with hooked nose, facial warts, crooked rotting teeth, bushy eyebrows and a black pointy hat which Endora refers to as a dunce cap. Although Darrin does get a more understanding view from Endora's actions, he regardless does not appreciate her meddling. As Samantha tries to decide on which side she will fall on the matter, the situation gets more complicated with Darrin's latest client, Harold Bartenbach, in the picture. First, Bartenbach gets an idea that he would like to use one of those haggard looking witches in his upcoming advertising campaign. And second, Mrs. Bartenbach is chair of the local chapter of the trick-or-treat for UNICEF campaign. She learns that there is, but it requires Darrin to do three seemingly difficult if not impossible tasks - touching a buffalo between the eyes, drinking a potion underwater, and flying over water during the day in the dark - both without him knowing why these are being done, and without the use of witchcraft. Daddy Comes to Visit

Thu, Nov 20, 196925 mins

Maurice stops by for a visit. When Samantha won't zap him up the breakfast of his choice, the issue of Darrin banning witchcraft unless in extreme emergencies is discussed. Maurice believes that if given a taste of witchcraft himself, Darrin would relish the life of a warlock. As Samantha has lived mostly a mortal life for the five years that she and Darrin have been married, Maurice eventually is able to convince Darrin to at least try the other side for one day by temporarily giving him powers. As the day progresses and as Darrin has yet to use the powers for anything of substance, Maurice is further able to convince Darrin to use the powers to spy at the board meeting of one of his clients, Bliss Pharmaceuticals, who will be deciding at that meeting between McMann & Tate and a competing firm for their account. Darrin's pitch was a modern campaign, which bucks Bliss' traditional trend over the course of their history. With that inside information which should win McMann & Tate the account, will Darrin want to move over to the side of witchcraft permanently?

Darrin the Warlock

Thu, Nov 27, 196925 mins

It's the day after Darrin agreed to try being a warlock for just the day to appease Maurice's argument that Samantha has tried his mortal lifestyle for the five years they've been married, and it's time he gave the other side a try. With Darrin able to get some inside information for Bliss Pharmaceuticals - an account for which McMann & Tate is vying among several advertising firms - Darrin, much to Samantha's shock and disheartenment, seems to be relishing the warlock life in all its aspects. The inside information is that the Bliss family is traditional, and want an old fashioned campaign rather than the modern approach Darrin was going to pitch. Winning the account also means a $5,000 bonus from Larry which sweetens the thought of being a warlock for Darrin. The questions become if anything will make Darrin change his mind about becoming a warlock full time and returning to the mortal that Samantha fell in love with, and if so what Maurice will do in response.

Sam's Double Mother Trouble

Thu, Dec 4, 196925 mins

With Darrin out playing golf, Samantha, already swamped with housework and attending to Adam, calls in Esmeralda for support, specifically to read Mother Goose nursery rhymes to Tabitha. In the process, Esmeralda, through one of her uncontrolled sneezes, accidentally conjures up Mother Goose herself. Mother Goose's arrival is bad timing as Samantha receives an unexpected visit from Mrs. Stephens, who has ulterior motives for her visit: she has left Mr. Stephens, and now needs a place to stay. The reason she is angry with Frank is because she has become an emancipated woman with a new modern wardrobe to match, about which she feels Frank mocked her. Mother Goose is the lesser of the problems as she will eventually fade away as all Esmeralda's accidental spells do. But when Mr. Stephens arrives looking for his wife and instead strikes up a conversation with a more traditional Mother Goose (who Samantha has passed off as her slightly off kilter aunt), Samantha believes she has the solution to reconciling her in-laws, she throwing in a bit of witchcraft to hasten the process.

You're So Agreeable

Thu, Dec 11, 196925 mins

To keep the peace, Samantha implores Darrin to be agreeable with Endora when she next visits. He does so, but rather sarcastically. Endora does not like this new view of Darrin, so she, without Samantha or Darrin's knowledge, places a spell on him to make him agree with anything that anyone says. Beyond some personal issues with Gladys Kravitz, Darrin gets into a bit of professional trouble with his "I totally agree" attitude and behavior. His client, Mr. Shotwell, is known to state that he does not like "yes" men, but realistically he does not like to be contradicted. Their encounter leads to Larry indirectly firing Darrin, which in turn leads to Darrin looking for another job. To support Darrin, Samantha uses a little witchcraft to help Darrin land the job he wants. But even with that new job in hand, they are worse off than before the incident. When Samantha figures out that Endora placed a spell on Darrin, she has to get Endora to remove the spell as opposed to reverse the spell - which itself has its consequences - but also get Larry and Darrin and Shotwell back together.

Santa's stay causes problems for Samantha and Darrin, as they have to hide or explain Santa to people who come by the house, namely nosy Gladys Kravitz, and Larry, the latter who is not in a festive mood as he is continually being nagged by Louise for a mink stole for Christmas, he who seems reluctant to get it for her. Samantha doesn't want him to even joke about it, as she reminds him that he said the same thing once before - when he was debating about staying home with her when she was pregnant or going on an important business trip to Tokyo - and Endora, without their knowledge, obliging his wish by splitting him in two, sending business oriented Darrin to Tokyo and keeping doting husband Darrin at home. The situation became complicated, especially as business Darrin was all work and no play, which didn't sit well with his client, Mr. Tanaka, while doting Darrin was a little too attentive to Samantha's every little whim and want.

The Phrase Is Familiar

Thu, Jan 15, 197025 mins

Because of Tabitha being a witch, Darrin, in agreeing to Samantha's suggestion that Tabitha is ready for kindergarten, allows for Endora's choice of Professor Poindexter Phipps, a warlock, to be her at-home tutor if only the professor teaches her in the mortal way. Meanwhile, for Darrin's latest campaign, he explains to Endora that his play off a familiar phrase - in this case, "never cry over spilt milk" - is meant to evoke a sense of comfort, and thus is only one of many strategies for success in his business, but one that should not be overused. So when the two of them have yet another of their disagreements, Endora, without Darrin or Samantha's knowledge, decides to place a spell on him where he spouts off one tired cliché after another. She ratchets up her anger toward Darrin with a slightly more devastating spell after he figures out about the first one. These spells cause problems for Darrin as he has come up with a campaign for H.B. What Makes Darrin Run?

Thu, Feb 12, 197024 mins

That Darrin has decided to take the morning off to play a round of golf only supports Endora's claim to Samantha that he is ambitionless. Why it bothers Endora is that she believes he can't afford to buy Samantha the finer things in life, as witnessed by the fact that they still live in the same house they did when they got married, the house now with a dishwasher seemingly on its last legs with Samantha needing to do manual housework to live. So without Samantha or Darrin's knowledge, Endora places a spell on him to make him the king of ambition when it comes to his job. It does seem to reap positive rewards with regard to the Bob Braddock account, which Larry wants Darrin to take over. But that ambition also works its way internally within McMann & Tate, where the next logical step in the corporate ladder for Darrin is Larry's job. When Samantha finds out about the spell, she will have to combat what looks to be Darrin's new ambition breaking up his and Larry's long friendship with a little witchcraft of her own until she can get Endora to remove the spell. Even then, it may take a bit of fast talking on Darrin's part for things to get back to being all right between Darrin and Larry.

Because Serena doesn't get everything she wants in her negotiation with Cashman, Serena, again using witchcraft, thinks she has a way to get everything she wants in the deal, without a care that her plan will basically render Darrin's agreement with Breeze Shampoo worthless, that attitude partly due to Darrin denigrating her song.
