The Walsh Family just moved to Beverly Hills, 90210. School is starting at West Beverly Hills High. The Twins, Brandon (older by 30 seconds) and Brenda have problems in school when they get there they don't have friends. Until Steve, Andrea, Kelly and Donna come along and the whole gang goes to a party. Brandon is alone until he meets a normal girl named Marianne Moore. David Silver has a problem of his own. He wrecks Steve Sanders's car. The next night Kelly, Donna and Brenda tries to sneak in to a 21 years or older dance club but Brenda's the only one that gets in. Brenda meets a 25 year old attorney, Jason Croft. Brandon and Marianne have a good time at a swimming pool. The next day Brandon get flowers from Marianne in class. The whole school thinks that Brandon Walsh and Marianne Moore had sex (which they didn't). Brenda is thinking of having sex with Jason Croft (until he finds out she's 16 years old).

Brandon meets and befriends surfer Dylan McKay, a mysterious loner who lives in a fancy hotel suite and hangs out at the beach with his surfer friends that include teenage alcoholic Betty. Meanwhile, Brenda feels she's living in poverty when she gets to know Kelly, and her insecure friend Donna Martin. Steve tries to hang out with David after mistakenly thinking that David's father is a wealthy TV show producer. Also, Andrea asks Brandon to write an article about being new in Beverly Hills.

Meanwhile, Brenda's new friend Tiffany gets caught shoplifting and implicates Brenda with her; and Cindy doesn't find homemaking easier after hiring maid Anna.
