When the boy gets hurt while at the clinic Glendon freaks out because his son is the town's star baseball player and there's a big game. Best wonders if the boy has a preexisting condition but he can't find his records, and Glendon forbids him from seeing his son. But when he learns something he goes to extreme to see the boy.

Best accompanies his aunt and some of the towns women to await the appearance of Blaze, a man who lives in the wilderness and who comes out once a year. When he collapses, Best examines him and while he awaits the results, Blaze leaves. In the meantime when several people.get sick Best learns that they all ate at the Salty Breeze, so he calls the health department and when the inspector finds their pet pig he closes it down. And the whole town is mad at Best because of it. When Elaine's mother's wedding is about to take place, she's a wreck. And when Blaze's tests results arrive, Best needs to find him so that he could be treated but they can't contact him in the conventional way so they try the unconventional.

Martin is "asked" to check on a guy who's a recluse and a loner who comes to town at this time. He learns the man takes medication for anxiety and the previous doctor visited him, so he goes and sees the man who says he will take his meds. Martin believes him. Later the power goes out and the people who saw him tell him the man is responsible for maintaining the power. So now he needs to find a way to medicate him. He finds a way but the trick is getting it to him. The town goes to his office to use his reserve power. And Martin treats a boy who's desperate for friends that he does all sorts of acts. Martin tells the boy he doesn't need to do that.

The town is celebrating its blueberry fest which culminates with a blueberry pie contest. Martin is told his predecessor was a judge and that he has to be a judge he emphatically refuses. He is also concerned about his aunt cause she hasn't had a physical in years and she refuses to to let Martin examine her. Martin comes across a guy who's blue and the guy says it's from blueberries but Martin decides to look into his medical history. Louisa is determined to win but at the contest Sarah collapses and secrets are revealed.
