Episode 4

Sri Lanka

45 mins

Nature and animals loving Britton Ben travels the the 'Pearl on the Indian Ocean', where life is expensive due to imports. An estimated two million domesticated street dogs and some canine pets are the otherwise neglected patients of a charitable veterinary clinic. It's set up and takes all time, energy and passion from Janey, a young vet surgeon, who dropped her North East England practice to 'make a real difference' rather then chip tagging and vaccinating. Indeed the dogs desperately need help, even many with (poor) owners, and she risks biting, flees or even contagious diseases for each of them. Five even share her modest home, while fund raising is hard but yielded full equipment, striving to British veterinary quality standards while educating the well-meaning locals by examples and sterilization and vaccination campaigns, the greater dream is to establish similar clinics in other poor countries and for other neglected animal species.
