The story had just about every cliche in the whodunit book - the weeping lass whose kid brother has his situation in a sling; the overly villainous villain; the gangster's moll and our pure boy, Barney. Barney is the kind of newspaper man who doesn't even take his jacket off when writing a hunk of copy and who tells people he's right on a deadline, but when the pretty babe in trouble comes bawling in, forgets all except his deed of daring do.
