The wildlife mettle of young rehabilitator Nancy Reynolds is tested during a routine visit to the vet, when a seemingly docile squirrel suddenly turns vicious. Rehabilitator Kristin Allen has been working with a family of raccoons for two months, and with the help of her son, prepares them for their return to the wild. Linda and her partner Max get a visit from a local police officer, who drops off an adult raccoon that was living in her barn.

Nancy gets a call from a homeowner with two baby vultures in his attic, and together they must devise a way to reunite the chicks with their mother. Linda takes in a fox found in critical condition inside a septic tank, and responds to a call about a small beaver that has been washed away from her colony. Kristin and Grant rely on physical therapy to strengthen a red-tailed hawk's broken wing enough to return to the wild.

Kristin and Grant face a long road of rehabilitaion with an owl suffering from brain damage.
