Episode 1
Let yourselves be charmed by the trio, Ten Strings and a Goat Skin. These young musicians from Prince Edward Island - barely out of their teens - are already asserting themselves as notable musicians. The trio explores The Beaches in Toronto, the East York Farmer's Market, and participate in a jam session at an Irish bar. The brothers Caleb and Rowen Gallant, and Jesse Périard's traditional folk music will leave you speechless and tapping your feet.
Episode 2
Singing from the heart of her African roots, Balade à Toronto is proud to present to you the talented Franco-Manitoban singer, Kelly Bado. If her blend of jazz vocals and Motown soul immediately makes you listen and reflect, her visit to Toronto is sure to knock your socks off. She braves a daring walk (356 meters in the air) on the CN Tower's famous "Edge Walk", lounges under the pink umbrellas at Sugar Beach, and marvels at art at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
Episode 3
In French-speaking Ontario, Mehdi Cayenne Club is seen as one of the biggest musical groups of the moment. Go ahead, judge for yourself when this Franco-Ontarian trio sets foot in the heart of Toronto. What's on the agenda? Three songs from their second album, "Na Na Boo Boo," dim sum in Chinatown, and an improvised slam session in Grafitti Alley, located in the famous Queen West neighborhood. A change of scenery is guaranteed.
Episode 4
Alexis Normand has the Fransaskois (Francophones from Saskatchewan) flag tattooed on her heart. In the company of her childhood friend and percussionist Christian Kongawi, she strolls through the historic neighborhood of Cabbagetown to the Toronto Islands. This folk-jazz singer will charm you with songs from her first album, "Mirador," and surprise you with her unique career as a young francophone artist living in a province with an English-speaking majority.
Episode 5
This couple embodies youth through their knowing glances of young love. Become enchanted by Stéphanie Blais and Paul Cournoyer, a Franco-Albertan couple on stage and off. This folk duo makes the most of their stroll through Toronto while exploring the cheese selection at the St. Lawrence Market and tandem biking on the Toronto Islands. They end their day with a ride on a Toronto streetcar, to Paul's immense joy.
Episode 6
Against a backdrop of dreams, magic, and melody, Blue Hibou is the musical encounter between Kim Barlow and Hélène Beaulieu. This folk duo from Whitehorse, Yukon came to be a few years ago and just released their first critically acclaimed self-titled album to a Canadian audience last winter. Arriving in Toronto, the two musician's linguistic duality is expressed in how they share a passion for folk music and the use of imagery in their lyrics. Follow them as they fly kites and do origami in Trinity Bellwoods park, followed by an acoustic performance in a museum of musical instruments, and more.
Episode 7
Despite their music being categorized somewhere between the genres of traditional Atlantic and traditional Quebec, Bette and Wallet's folk music is firmly rooted in modernity. Before braving the Toronto subway, the two multi-instrumentalists explore the city's most eclectic spots; on the menu? Japanese food and local beer.
Episode 8
Singer-songwriter and British Columbian by adoption, Aude Ray, is a multi-disciplinary artist - but it's her voice and music that make her really stand out. This world traveler performs three songs from her first album, "Sirène," a pop vocal album with angelic melodies. Follow her as she visits the Music Garden in Toronto, the historic Fort York site, and a knitting cafe in the Polish area of the city. You're guaranteed to be enchanted.
Episode 9
Winner of the 2012 edition of the music competition, Les Francouvertes, the singer-songwriter Chloé Lacasse never ceases to amaze. After releasing her second album, "Lunes," in spring 2014, the charming singer comes to explore Toronto and perform a handful of her magnificent pop compositions sprinkled with notes of folk and rock. Over the course of her visit in Little Italy, Chloé fearlessly opens up about herself to us through her words as well as her music.
Episode 10
Irreverent, abrasive, yet funny, the members of the Acadian rock group, led by Serge Brideau, perform some songs from their latest album, "Party de ruisseau." Together, they discover gourmet donuts in the trendy neighbourhood, Parkdale, defy gravity at iFly indoor wind tunnel, and cook lobster on the shore of Lake Ontario - the perfect moment to talk about Acadian identity, shale gas, and their creative process.
