It's one week until Olivia and Jasper's wedding, the ceremony and reception to be held on Jasper's farm. Olivia wants a simple and casual affair, while Jasper wants to do whatever pleases Olivia. The one thing that Jasper does want is to make a toast to his new wife, but is afraid his constant stutter will mar what he wants to say. Sara promises to help him get through with his speech. Hetty has promised Olivia that she will stay out of the wedding preparations, until Olivia and Jasper make, in her mind, an ill-fated decision. From then on, Hetty vows to take control, much to Olivia's chagrin as Hetty wants to plan a lavish affair with an ostentatious wedding dress. Alec and Janet in particular are feeling the stress of the week as not only has Hetty moved the reception to their house (with Janet to do the bulk of the cooking) with the guest list ballooning to an astronomical size, but six-month old Daniel is starting to teeth, they have to entertain Janet's judgmental and finicky Great Aunt Eliza who is visiting from out of town, and they are dealing with a stray dog who Cecily is secretly encouraging to stay. The question is will anyone be happy on the day of the wedding.

Episode 2
Mon, Mar 9, 199260 mins
Sara is growing up, which Olivia notices. Hetty, on the other hand, still sees Sara as a little girl who needs to have decisions made for her. The two get into a major argument over a new dress for Sara. Both Olivia and Sara sees Hetty's control as exactly the way she treated Olivia and Sara's mother Ruth while they were growing up. The dress is only the impetus for a drawn out battle between the two. When Sara meets a tough runaway girl named Jo Pitts who has a striking resemblance to her, Sara gets into more trouble because of Jo. But Sara and Felix think that they can use Jo to help with Sara's problems with Hetty, Jo to act as Sara while Sara runs away. Jo, however, only has one thing on her mind, that being to steal whatever she can from the Kings. Meanwhile, Gus, with Sara in tow, is heading to the mainland on word that Ezekiel Crane is in trouble and requires his help. When they arrive, they find that it was not Ezekiel who sent for Gus. On her own while Gus deals with his problem, Sara runs into problems of her own.

But when Abe also thinks that Sara is Jo, Gus hatches a plan to get him and Sara back to safety. And back at Avonlea, Jo, still pretending to be Sara, has been stealing, the latest, the only one at which she's been caught, is of the church's weekly offerings. However Hetty believes that other forces are at work causing Sara's change. And Felix, the only one in Avonlea who knows of Jo, is grounded because of something Janet believes he and 'Sara' did. But can or will Gus, Sara or Felix ultimately be able to right the wrongs caused by Jo. And what will Jo's penance be.

Alec buys a spirited race horse named Caesar to replace his aging work horse, Blackie. Felix is beside himself when he hears that Blackie is being sold and will thus no longer be part of the family. To make Blackie useful, Felix proposes that he and Blackie team up as a delivery service. Against his initial better judgment, Alec allows his son to start this business as he feels Felix will benefit from the responsibility. Alec does have some caveats: the business cannot interfere with either Felix's school work or chores. Despite some figurative and literal bumps in the road, the delivery business flourishes so much so that Felix hires Sara, Cecily and Digger to work with him. But the business becomes more of a business for Felix than a means to make Blackie useful. When further problems ensue, Felix is forced to shut down the business, but not before one last delivery made on a bet with opposing delivery man, Hank Webster, the bet with the winner taking all the delivery service. But can an aged Blackie endure the stress of a long distance delivery race.

Hetty is especially tough on the students in preparation for the history bee against Markdale School in two weeks. Hetty in general has always intimidated most of the students, who now complain to their parents, who in turn complain to Janet. Janet feels that only one person can deal with Hetty: Alec. When the parents elect Alec to the School Board, his first act is to speak openly to Hetty about her teaching methods. Hetty, feeling unwanted, promptly quits. Alec and the School Board did not want Hetty to quit (especially after thirty dreadful replacement teacher interviews), nor did Hetty really want to give up her job. But before things can go back to the way they were, Alistair Dimple waltzes into Avonlea, applying for the job. He dazzles the School Board, who hires him. The School Board is however unaware that he is not a professor as he professes, but a failed Shakespearean stage actor. Dingle ends up treating history class as one big all-participating stage play. The students are having a good time but nonetheless are learning with a new found curiosity. Dingle even eventually wins Hetty over. But when Alec finds out Dingle's real pedigree, he has to decide what to do with the information regardless of Dingle's positive effect on the children.

The higher decibel level in the church bothers most. But the children believe that the forcefulness of the sermons do make them more believable (at least scarier), which leads to a discussion between them about the end of the world. Because of recent events, Felix and Sara make Felicity believe that the end is near, and the one thing that is a black mark in her life that will prevent her from going to heaven is that she took her mother's new hair comb - a King family heirloom - without permission and lost it. She is in a desperate search to find it before the end. To find it, the children go to the closest thing they have in Avonlea to a mystic: Peg Bowen. Peg cannot locate the comb but tells them that they have to confess their sins as the end approaches, and if the balance of good outweighs the bad, the end will not occur. By all signs, the end is tomorrow evening which makes Felicity's search even more frantic. Meanwhile, Janet is being harassed by Hetty, Olivia and Alec for not wearing the comb, the three siblings believing the comb is a symbol of the King family honor. The problems: Janet cannot find it (she not knowing that Felicity lost it), and worse, she wouldn't want to wear it anyway because she thinks it looks terrible, King family honor or not.
