Trevor helps track down Logan and Emmalin in 'wedding town' Dillon and convinces his mate to back down rather then see the general unleash the army's full wrath. In Iraq, Jeremy takes dad's word that his nightly meetings with a female officer weren't indecent and ma is the one who insisted on a separation. Denise is fired stat when the army hospital learns about her contract-breaching affair with corporal Riley 'Mac' McCadden. Even her friends are startled by her secretive adultery. Mac has decided to take his fiancée another chance. Trevor is shocked that ignorant Roxy carelessly ruined the car's motor. When the rumor reaches Iraq, Frank volunteers for a dangerous mission. Collin plays hardball, but is found out an impostor. Michael grimly allows Claudia-Joy to stay on the base with Emmalin, who refuses to move to Brussels, to finish the school-year.

Frank is ordered home 'to supervise war games', but unofficially to put his domestic life in order, for which he's clearly less ready the repentant Denise. The Moran kids want separate rooms, so Pamela and Claudia Joy wrestle with the base administration's house allocation system. Ingrate Emmalin keeps bitching, now mainly on a ecologist theme and the new home, so ma gets no relieve until a surprise visit.

Trevor takes his excessive punishment like a man, satisfied with the promise his long-term future may be safe. He rather feels miserable without a prospect of offering his family the domestic luxuries Roxy admires at Pamela's new place. Michael is back home, having lost his NATO job to a Pentagon general, but resumes his Fort Marshall post as divisional commander, expecting a second star. Jeremy survives an Iraqi booby trap thanks to a stray dog but can't bring him home, so he finds a kind Airman to adopt the friendly Iraqi mutt. Frank grudgingly goes home to deal with Denise, but after a simple confession of her adultery gives her marching orders while lawyers prepare a divorce.

The Holdens pull the general's weight to allow an enemy-bomb-murdered Iraqi army translator's daughter Haneen Naji to get surgery on the base and recover in their home, surprisingly the first cause Emmalin seems to support wholeheartedly. An heirloom and a christening help Frank and Denise realize neither is sure a divorce is best for them.

The Holdens welcome Haneen, who has a guilt problem, but Emmalin actually empathizes.

Finn is a good candidate for the prestigious school Fordham Academy, but they also screen the parents, so Roxy is a nervous wreck at the interview, yet they even get a scholarship.

Claudia Joy recovers well from her car accident, but is diagnosed with serious diabetes.

Chase is released home after hospital treatment officially after a helicopter crash but Pamela comes to realize he must have been tortured. The general is getting really worried about Claudia Joy's denial but an accidental encounter works wonders. Denise's EMT training starts well.

Romance was even more intense, as troops were sent to the European war theater for months, years or never to return, whether after a wedding or not. On the home front, job substitution forced more equality, despite hostile bigot rowdies.

Trevor has to bail out repeatedly on the intense family activities before another shift leaves for Iraq as his recruit-protégée keeps calling, about to abandon exams or enlistment. Chase is recovering well, but Pamela keeps bugging about his secret Delta Force operation, then about some macho talk and recommending the unit at a barbecue and plays the victim of 'deceit' when he spends time with his mates discretely.

Trevor coaches prospective recruit Ricardo Martinez and, even harder, the wives who flippantly registered for a charity golf tournament, where Roxy's noise en clumsiness outwear captain Pamela's patience. Michael is left alone receiving 4 star general Ludwig, who praises his skills but announces Fort Marshall is on a shortlist of bases likely to be closed due to budget cuts.

Trevor fears the financial consequences mean a they should postpone a baby, ignoring Roxy just got pregnant, but is ecstatic when she tells. Michael Holden is sworn is as just-promoted major-general by general Ludwig, whose wife is none other then general Baker's obnoxious widow Lenore 'Lenny'. Pamela fails to understand that Chase needs to be loyal to his mates rather then stick to futile family activities, as if she had to raise the kids 'all alone'. Jeremy's depression reaches a tragic climax.
